Beauty of Harimau..

If QR above expectations, we get big dividend to buyback more units.

If QR below expectations, we get opportunity to top up at lower price.

HODL always win !!

Maybank not only good return but very safe to buy now loh!

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2 months ago | Report Abuse

Small investors love Maybank's generous dividends. Instead of keeping money in Maybank, why not buy its shares?

Does anyone know of an alternative platform to check individual stock dividends? I've been relying on dividends.my, but since yesterday, it hasn't been displaying dividend information for specific stocks.

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2 months ago | Report Abuse

Marching towards RM9.50. Those who had bought when it briefly dipped below RM8.90 less than two months ago have a capital gain of over 6% now. Should go up further. Cheers.

RHB targeted 31 sen dividend based on 78% payout....past few years payout had been above 80%, so there's a possibility of higher target of 31.....let's hope :)

I expect higher than 31c too...
RHB is very conservative in maybank valuation

In past 10yrs, only in 2019, total dividend exceeded 60sen mark.

Hope in 2023, breaks again 60sen mark, by declaring more than 31sen div in Q4.

Actually breaking 60sen mark is not easy task for Tiger..considering DRP exercised many times past years, which diluted share units.

pang72

After stopping the DRP, tiger bank starts to rise without any share dilute

@pang72…agree..DRP looks attractive from outside but this bankers and fund managers will manipulate price before ex-date.

Good harimau stops DRP..and hope will continue this policy.

Better do DIY-DRP…keep cash dividend and buy units when price goes below PE 12..

The gain in past 1 month already more than the dividend to be paid. Could it be price come down after dividend declared?

Posted by LQ Nathan > 2 months ago | Report Abuse

any news on declaration date?

Posted by Stocktradeg > 2 months ago | Report Abuse

Technically stock has given breakout buying price would be @ 9.47-45 with target for 10.10 long term holding
initially buy few shares if sustain around 9.55-60 then add more shares

ht tps://myinvestingnotes.blogspot.com/2024/02/maybank-at-glance_25.html

10 Year from 2013 to 2022

Its revenues and PBT grew about 2% per year over this period.

Its average PBT margins was 22.5%.

Its average ROE was 10.7% and showing a downward trend. Its ROE in 2022 was 9.6%.

Its DPO was 80.5%. Thus, it retained only about 20% of its earnings.

Its DY in 2022 was 6.63%.

Over this period, it retained a total of RM 1.18 of its earnings and its share price rose RM 1.79 for the same period. Thus, $1 of retained earning is reflected fully in the rise of its share price.

During the 10 Yr, its BV per share grew from RM 1.721 to RM 7.127, as the company allowed its shareholders to increase their equity through DRIP (Dividend Reinvestment Program). Its NOSH grew from 8,645 million in 2013 to 12,054 in 2022.

Its P/B or P/NAPS fell from 1.9 in 2013 to 1.2 in 2022.

From 2013 to 2022, its capital appreciation in share price was RM 1.79 and it distributed RM 4.907 in dividends, increasing the value of the initial investment by RM 6.70. Given its initial price was RM 6.96 per share, this translated into a simple total gain of 96.3% for the period or a CAGR of 7%.

Should you take the dividends or reinvest your dividends through the DRIP scheme?

I opine the better option is to reinvest your dividends through DRIP as Maybank's ROE was 9.6%, which is more than 2x that of the risk free interest rate.

Investing should be simple but not simpler. :-) 😀😀😀

@calvintaneng, you knocked on the wrong door, this is a blue chip, not suitable for you.
Go back to your super penny stocks.
Remember your sailang ....(what name I don't remember) super penny stock in 2014?
What happened to the stock now?
Cannot find...haha...

Why compared a blue chip counter with penny stocks? Trying to attract buyers so that you can cash out?

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2 months ago | Report Abuse

This Calvin Cannon Tan is wasting his time here. He won't be able to convince any Maybank investor to switch part of their funds to plantation stocks.

RHB analyst expects
.....NII likely to be stable QoQ... We expect 4Q23 NII to be relatively stable sequentially, with potential NIM pressure from higher funding cost cushioned by loan growth. 3Q23 loans grew 2% QoQ and 5% YoY, which was broad-based across both domestic and overseas markets, and Maybank had been optimistic that this trend can be sustained in 4Q23

.....… leaving non-II as the key driver of the operating income trend. We believe fee income could stay robust on healthy card- and loan-related fees. The overall non-II trend, however, would be driven by the non-fee component, ie treasury & markets, and, to a lesser extent, the performance of its insurance arm. The drop in Malaysian government bond yields QoQ could offer opportunities for it to realise profits and help lift overall non-II QoQ and YoY..
