SVB is a california based bank that takes in deposit and loan out to new tech start up. They are not a national based bank. The last count in SEPT 2022 {number of banks in the US insured with FDIC totalling 4,517} Yes. 4,517 number of Banks operating in the US. In Malaysia we only have 9 anchor banking groups. The big 3 is Maybank, Public Bank, CIMB. Illogical to use PBB vs SVB

Credit Suisse shares tank over 30% after Saudi backer rules out further assistance

Shares of embattled bank Credit Suisse hit another all-time low for a second consecutive day.
Credit Suisse’s biggest backer, Saudi National Bank, has said it won’t provide further financial help for the bank.
Speaking to CNBC’s Hadley Gamble during a panel session in Riyadh on Wednesday morning, Credit Suisse Chairman Axel Lehmann declined to comment on whether his firm would need any sort of government assistance in the future.

First Republic Bank was cut to junk by S&P Global Ratings and Fitch Ratings amid concern that clients will pull holdings from the lender, even after U.S. regulators pledged support for the banking sector.

The California-based bank’s credit rating was lowered to BB+ from A-, and it remains on credit watch negative, according to an S&P statement Wednesday. Shortly after, Fitch cut the bank to BB from A-, a step below the S&P rating, and placed it on a negative rating watch.

Just after the revised budget a few weeks ago, we got a Malaysian minister dismissing that there will be a recession in Malaysia in 2023. Just a few days ago the aftershock of small US banks collapsing sending tremors in the world banking fraternity. Dow retreated another 280 points last night. More shockwaves to come, next will be European and third-world countries' banks or even sovereign default.

the revised budget won't be able to help us if there is recession..
this government is too reactive.

The budget set on we are having 5% gdp growth this year. if we don't have 5%, they don't know what to do to achieve 5%. haha.. needs a seriously good group of malaysia economists to sit down and formulate a plan. few scenario and what courses we can take.

If SVB went down because of feds bond losses then almost every bank in the states holding losses in US bonds. The worst is yet to come. When there is low tide, all boats no matter how solid or big will lower. Simon Black is right. For those of you not aware that for the past 10 years, corporate America has been borrowing largely to finance its share buyback.

https://dinarchronicles.com/2023/03/13/simon-black-if-svb-is-insolvent-so-is-everyone-else/

Late last year I recorded a podcast explaining how the Fed was engineering a financial meltdown by raising interest rates so quickly, and they would have to choose between a rock and a hard place, i.e. higher inflation versus financial catastrophe.
This is the financial catastrophe, but it’s just getting started. Like Lehman Brothers in 2008, SVB is just the tip of the iceberg. There will be other casualties– not just in banks, but money market funds, insurance companies, and even businesses.

You are right, those who invest using cash money, will have to take the risk and wait for the banks to recover. Just as those who invested in Armada for the last 5 to 10 years. We are talking about the timing of when to go in.
