Macroeconomic analyst Hoo Ke Ping believes this is a smokescreen statement, to lessen the impact of tumbling share prices for IWH-linked companies in the wake of the news.

China, he said, refused to give the green light for the project as it is no longer in a position to invest in Bandar Malaysia due to stringent capital controls. China's refusal to give the go-ahead was a major factor listed for problems with the sale, according to an internal Malaysian Finance Ministry document viewed by the Wall Street Journal.

"All these projects China committed to from 2015 until now was committed without fully understanding China's worsening financial conditions," Dr Hoo told Channel NewsAsia.

"(So now), Chinese projects, whether state owned enterprises or private, as long as they're not strategic, they're out. There must be a strategic meaning to China's geopolitical interests."

Unfortunately... Proton is only selling in Malaysia... Indonesia sales is negligible......And Malaysia sales is only less than 100k car per year..... Is it strategically significant to China auto maker??

Once its properties been revalued, its market value could go to RM5.00. then I believe its share price will go RM2.50. At current lever, fair value is at RM2.00 given its historically NTA of RM3.30. Stay tide for RM2.00 for the time being

frankly speaking although I don't like both C26 and C32 which happen to expire on the same day, C26 should be more valuable than C32 for lower premium and higher gearing. Well, market is irrational and many people dunno what the hell is call warrant before buying into.

KUALA LUMPUR: CIMB Equities Research is maintaining its Add call for DRB-Hicom with a higher sum-of-parts based target price of RM2.25.

It said on Tuesday this was a 10% discount to the realised net asset value (RNAV) as it assigned higher valuations to the group’s defence and aviation (CTRM) divisions, as well as Pos Malaysia following the April surge in its share price.

“Our Add call is supported by the imminent foreign strategic partner (FSP) for Proton. Key downside risks are no FSP for Proton and deterioration in Proton’s earnings,” it said.

CIMB Research visited DRB-Hicom’s automotive assembly plants, automotive university and defence vehicle assembly plant in Pekan, Pahang at end-April 2017, together with 30 buy-side analysts and fund managers.
“The visit was an eye-opener, as we developed greater appreciation for DRB-Hicom’s automotive manufacturing and defence vehicle assembly capabilities, which contributed positive operating profit to the automotive division in FY16.
