The Star 25.05.2017

Hong Leong Investment Bank (HLIB) Research said Proton was valued at RM1.5bil and Lotus at RM560mil.

Proton and Geely will jointly establish a 10-year plan for Proton to reclaim its top position in Malaysia and become third largest OEM in ASEAN in terms of market share.

“Positive on the deal, as DRB-Hicom will get RM560m cash (from disposal of Lotus) and Proton’s non-core assets and investments which include Shah Alam land and Proton City.

“Furthermore, the emergence of Geely as JV in Proton, partially reduce burden on DRB, while DRB can re-focus its resources into other strategic businesses.


“We maintain BUY recommendation with higher Target Price of RM2.58 (from RM2.22) based on 20% discount to sum-of-parts,” it said.

1) if one day lkh think drb halal again they will back buy
2) reduce kacau

LTH lost money in other stocks. They have to sell in DRBHCom to realized their profit. As long as LTH is still inside, the selling will continue and prices cannot move up.

gap up? I will still hold till QR. Today is last trading day of the week. Then next week 3 more days to release the QR. SInce stayed sideline, No harm of continue to do that for few more days. Also many call warrant will be in money if it goes above 1.70. Either QR bring it down or the bank so call manage the price.

I am taking a long term view. Continue to buy on weakness. Without 100% of Proton being a drag on the group, I see brighter future. Once Qtr report out, might be another buying opportunity.

It's clear LTH operator want to take as much profit out as possible and then buy low. So will continue to sell slowly now for next few days/weeks until they can accumulate low again.
All warrants are now being culled as a result.

It's a clever (some would say cynical) move not to have a fully binding and irrevocable agreement in place yet. What they have is a 'so-called' "binding" Head's of Agreement. I can't see that this has been picked up by anyone yet, but it is still subject to the necessary regulatory approvals and that must mean both in Malaysia and in China. In other words, there are still get out clauses built into the deal, should Geely find anything untoward in either their on-going due diligence or indeed the contractual terms in the final draft contract. Moreover, although Geely is technically a private company, the Chinese authorities will still hold sway and could have the final say in all of this, so there is a not insignificant political game still to play out (look what happened recently with the IWH so called done deal!). I think in the end, this Heads of Agreement is merely a fudge because they had to come up with something after the crunch meetings a week ago. There could be many delays now between now and the deal finally being ratified, all of which gives time to play this stock up and down and raise lot's more cash through the issuance of more CW's et al instruments. Add to the mix that the next QR is unlikely to be good and what you get is big institutions making big profits and ikan bilis getting made into sambal!

r3490 That's a good take of the situation. Was watching the buying trend yesterday afternoon; a certain buyer eating huge chunks systematically without letting price run away. T+4 squaring can cause price softening today. Don't fancy becoming sambal! Investors should read latest TP analyses of two investment houses. Good luck!
