pound sank Friday as U.K. PM Theresa May's Conservatives lost their overall majority in the general election.
That left the situation of a hung parliament, with a coalition needed to form a government.
Sterling was off 1.13% at $1.2685 at 03:15 ET. The pound was off 1.95% against the euro at €1.1331.
The result of the election left May's future up in the air, but she said she would not stand down.
May had called the snap election in a bid to secure a ""strong and stable leadership"" heading into Brexit talks.
That left the specter of Britain calling for a delay in Brexit talks as negotiations proceed to form a U.K. government.
May had called for a so-called ""hard Brexit"" but the new government may have to soften its stance.
Elsewhere, the dollar index moved back above 97 after sacked FBI chief James Comey's testimony.
Comey accused the Trump administration of lying about the FBI and himself.
But he did not accuse Trump of ordering him to drop a probe into Russian links in presidential race.
The euro dipped below $1.12 after losing ground after the ECB policy meeting.
The ECB left policy on hold but removed a reference to the possibility of further rate cuts in its guidance.
More tellingly, ECB chief Mario Draghi said there was no discussion of tapering.
The dollar also firmed against theyen moving back above the 110 mark.

Proton Bayu?? Will this ve the game changer or the terms sound so familier. Proton iriz was deem as a game changer but it flopped. The bayu look attractive but what will be the price tag? If 120k??? Will you buy??

Basic idea of drb is to let go proton burden..share it with thrid party..win win for Ajib n china xi..if not ajib thinking of malaysian sentiment to proton as malaysian pride..he may sold it 100% or let it rooten in grave..Now just let the proven compny to manage proton future. Less burden for gov n drb. Even now proton has bright future ahead with china expertise n largest market in the world..

Electric car or solar car is up to geely to decide base on their acessment of current need n market demand. Geely n proton doing bussiness to make money.. No point to waste money build new car model if it out of trend..

Lol....can u find any electric car on the road in malaysia...where is the recharge station..even in china...euorpe hard to find on road. Still not economical..just wait for 5 to 10 years from now may be we can transform into electric. Even ajib...trump dont use electric car now..All car produser..toyota..honda...geely will produce car acording to current market demand.

Traditionally Proton has not done well in car pricing over RM70k. Preve, Suprima, Inspira & Perdana, all.above 70k and hardly selling. The volume is in Saga & Persona 30+~60k. Bayu in China selling around 90k. I don't think this will sell very well here at the same pricing. If they bring in the X1, selling at RM20~30k, that will do very well. Can give Axia a challenge.

Buy on anticipation, sell on fact. Market anticipating a definitive agreement between proton and geely in july where geely will book 49% of proton losses in Q3. Drb Q3 account will improve significantly. Share price will react 6 months ahead of time, which is now. Should break rm2.00 next week and keep on inching upwards.

Geely's sub-Volvo gonna build fatory at tjg malim next year, as usual, by tat time, tjg malim land ady transfer to drb, and drb gonna sell it to volvo. Another land gain for drb.

Wat's interesting is the timeline:

1. Drb rejected Malakoff's JV to build solar plant on FEB 2017.

2. Geely Li Shufu commented geely will pull out from proton FSP nego on MARCH 2017.

3. Geely confirmed to be Proton FSP, tat Geely will hold 49.9% of Proton branding and factory, Proton's other landbanks will transfer to DRB. Announcement made on MAY 2017.

4. Today, JUNE 2017, announced tat Volvo will build a plant @ tjg malim, at Proton city, commence next year 2018, 1st quarter.

My friends, do u believe thr r no hidden agenda?
Or the FSP deal ady done long before Feb tis year?
I looked at the timeline, just keep wondering...

I dun not think so...as ppl keep critic government to reimburse RM1.1 billion to Proton, and Geely only pay RM 170 mill to takeover Proton, another in kind injection of SUV for RM600 mill...

Then now, Volvo gonna construct a plant at tjg malim, wats the land price for tat?

I think thats the real deal for Geely to take up 49.9% Proton share...as Volvo is cash rich, weak in Asean market, and build a Volvo plant beside Proton, gonna to make the land at tjg malim appreciate alot.

No wonder DRB ceo dare to comment Proton wont reduce any staff, but instead hire more soon, cos Volvo is coming as well.

DRB is more than just Proton. Proton has been a drag on the entire group. Once sold, only a 50.1% drag. But no need big investment for the future, can take Geely/Volvo platform. Better chance to turn-around the company. Is getting Geely as Partner of Proton good for DRB (again DRB not Proton)? Answer is Yes. Also, transfer of Proton prized Asset (land & property) to DRB, Is it good for DRB? Again, answer is Yes. If good for DRB, share price will up once definitive agreement is signed.

I m hold drbhcm too...but wonder if the price guarantee 99% up up up n tp2.0 abv but why epf n LTH keep disposed recently...can they don understand "buy low sell high"???...kikiki...anyway it doesn't matter will buy more if below 1.3 n will clear all mine abv 2.0....all the best to "proton"!!!!

I was talking to my broker. According to her, fund managers have pre-determined buy and sell prices. Once their target is hit, the will execute the orders that had been set earlier. Only make changes to the target once a committee (a team) agrees. So in case price go down, the trader is not answerable on why didn't sell. They work differently, based on pre-set pricing targets, and also portfolio of stocks set by a team and if a stock is for strategic purpose like for dividends or something else. It is not like a trader that makes own decision. Only than I undrrstand why they buy/sell.
