At frist, i oso think the same way as u ppl who dont know that S'pore conman calvin; so when John Lu told us that he always lie to get supports... I did not agree. but after some observation, I did.
earlier he had drastically promoted MRCB n UEM about land benefited from HSR etc when they were around 1.20, they then drop continuously until around 70 cts.. when those kena cheated asked him, he will ask them to average down n hold long term.. that's the most silly way of investment...
If he really do what he said buy n hold with high pe then he would have lost a lot of money.. but if he pump n dump then he would hav made a lot of money.. pump n damp need volume, so he has to make up story to arouse interest so that ppl will follow..
whether the companies will benefit due to land around the strategic area or not, it will take years to materialise.. holding on a lousy counter hoping for it to go up is totally silly...
Aiyoh, whether Calvin is right or wrong one thing is certain. An investment decision whether by sohais or brilliant investor is theirs alone. Nobody ever held a gun to their head and forced them to buy! I’m no KYY (I’m a kuchi-rat investor compared to him) and I certainly respect him as a Sifu, especially his knowledge, smarts and gumption but my investment philosophy is something that’s different from his. But ask yourself what’s the most important personal quality that an investor should have?

Armed with this snippet of trading advice, I constantly scour the KLSE & look for the “mispriced bet” all the time. Believe me, I caught a couple of lemons but none serious enough to do me in. I would never touch Sumatec when they only have a laughable11k in the bank! But I was lucky enough to catch that chao ham yi, Zelan round about late last year when I decided that at circa 2.5c it was a mispriced bet as the co had outstanding arbitration claims. Nothing more than that. When the co was successful with their claims recently, the price shot up to 12c and I cashed out. I’m waiting for it to retrace to more reasonable levels (below its current levels) to buy again.
I’ve also been slowly picking up HTPadu in the mid 60s-70s and plan to hold long term. MYEG’s market cap is now 5.05B and has had like 5 bonus issues. HTPadu’s is a mere 77M! If you view this stock as a baby MYEG, in my humble view it’s got plenty of legs long term if they get to muscle into MYEG’s domain, as they’re showing signs of trying to do.Nothing more than that. Same rationale with Talam. Chao ham yi stock but with potential lifeline. If the price does fall, especially to those levels mentioned by Calvin’s detractors, to me it’s time to huut ah!
For Talam to survive depend on the management wheather honest and shareholder friendly or not. With share price of 4.5cents it already tell U the management don't care about minority shareholders. Same as berjaya corp which so much assets still a penny stock. Very shamely.

Group pre-tax loss was RM10.35 million higher than the RM7.97 million for the same quarter last year. The higher loss was mainly due to gross loss generated from the sale of land because certain lands were not located in strategic locations and therefore has no potential for development in the next few years. The purchasers were only willing to buy at a low price.
