Shell to stop all Russian oil and gas purchases, apologizes for buying shipment after Ukraine invasion

Since inventories included crude oil paid for and on shipment hence by 31th March 2022 it is clear shell malaysia will not accept any refine products make from Russsia crude, this forced Hengyuan to make an accounting inventrories written down on Q1 ending on 31th March 2022.

If subsequently Hengyuan able to sell this pacel of Russia crude to other buyer then in Q2 this sale will be included as revenue.

Thats why there is a writedown losses of more than Rm 130m loh!

Since the cost of Russian Oil to Hengyuan is USD 7m whereas the mkt price is USD 80....hengyuan can sell to its china parent at USD 7m at no losses loh!

This how cash can siphon from Hengyuan, quietly mah!

There goes our potential dividend mah!

Yes agree Mah!
But mkt price for Russian oil is USD 80....but they writedown the oil to USD 7 & for loss more than Rm 130m for what leh ??
Maybe writedown by say 15% to USD 68 or loss of Rm 19m already more than sufficient mah! Whoever bought at USD 68 will still make good profit mah!

Why sell to China parent at USD 7 leh ?
Although no gain no losses but as it already written down to USD 7.....but hengyuan already incurred massive losses of more than Rm 130m loh!

Very dangerous this type of management mah!

But if you look at operating cash flow the inventories written down of RM 131,588,000 is added back to operating cash flow. This can only mean the written down is a provision to show Hengyuan reject this parcel of Russia crude (taken out from inventories) that already paid for as purchases.

I might be wrong. Any comment from accountant?

I remember when i was a despatched boy....more than 35 yrs ago....that time 11 yrs ago....that time 1 lit of petrol only cost 62 sen mah!

I only spend about Rm 20 to 30 per mth on my motorbike going here going & there & make Rm 80 to 90 on my fuel allowance loh!

There is no craps on fuel subsidy loh!

Esso & Shell refinery makes eps of 30 sen to 60 sen pa & the share price is Rm 3.50 to Rm 6.00 mah!

I remember my senior analyst sifu....told me about 3 yrs ago about HY hedging loh!
He says he quite suspicious why HY hedge thru a singapore co.....for crack spread instead of going to CME directly leh ?

He says this are the risk loh;

1. If crack spread is sky high....definitely derivative will lose bigs.....but the co will not see losses bcos their product margin will be high & can aborbed the losses loh!

2. If crack spread fall.....their derivative will not report huge gain....bcos most likely the spore will take a big cut on the derivative margin & pass on a reduce gain to hengyuan loh!

These are the risk & loss of investing n doing hedging thru a 3rd party in spore....a strategy to siphon money mah!

Rubbish explaination loh!

Both write down or write off amount to loss mah!

Write off means u have maximum loss with zero value mah!

Writedown...u already taken a loss.....but not upto the maximum loss compare to write off mah!

Your write down....in future may result in more losses if it further deteriorate but it could also lead to gain.....if situation improve....that may lead to writeback mah!

For Hy....case in respect of russian oil, it is unlikely they will be a writeback of its Rm 131m losses....bcos it has write down to USD 7 per barrel from usd 80 per barrel, for eventually selling to its china parent co mah!

Normally after stocktake and discussion with auditor then only management with the agreement of auditor to do the stock written down (to current value)/written off ( missing items or as scrap total loss) on Q4 financial ending.

To do an inventories written down on Q1 is unnormal unless something drastic happen.

Not yr end yet mah!

Management will just write down 1st mah!

After completion....even during yr end...if auditor dispute....management will tell the auditor...no choice....Russian oil.....Msia govt discourage & shell disallow....thus need to sell quickly to salvage some value to avoid total write off mah!

Mgt veli panlai to cook up with booshiit story & the auditor has no choice but to accept management explaination loh!
