i don't understand why the postal segment keeps making losses, cant even reach breakeven. even if they over invested in sorting centres, wouldn't it mean they have better scale compared to the insource e-comm platforms? i.e. cheaper? Plus they already have the delivery network as part of the USP.
At this rate, probably should just start delivering KFC and McDonalds. Or distribute flyers for ad revenue.
lazada dah bagi biz kpd ninjavan :) struktur kos pos, membebankan.... overstaffing issue tak terhingga... surat traditional pun korang kini... new biz model... kalau tiada, tunggu pupus macam ni
I think at some point, some people are going to start accumulating given the low price and likelihood of a back to black. However, too many things still uncertain. Confidence also not improving since on the ground customer service still no major improvements. Imagine if the service is super good, there would be stronger confidence in the company to recover.
Pos should be more innovative and creative , the old way didn’t work must shift to new biz ,at least airasia made some difference, send foods lah , bcome. Pos rider la etc. Lousy management too comfortable, only know how to take money
Astro replaced by online streaming Netflix, Disney Hotstar Star replaced by online news (eg Malaysiakini) Opensys replaced by Internet banking and eWallets Pos replaced by email & Whatsapp

/*page wrapper styling*/ /*page wrapper styling*/ FAQ My Cart Toggle Nav No Result News Release Pos Malaysia and UNGCMYB launch country’s first SDG stamp 2022-11-01 12:00 PM KUALA LUMPUR, 1 NOVEMBER 2022 – Pos Malaysia Berhad (“Pos Malaysia”), in partnership with UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei (“UNGCMYB”), today issued Malaysia’s first Sustainable Development Goals (“SDG”) special stamp collection in underlining the crucial role recycling plays in achieving a circular economy.
Themed “Kitar Semula – Ekonomi Kitaran”, the special stamp is endorsed by the Economic Planning Unit (“EPU”) of the Prime Minister’s Department, a Malaysia’s government agency that is championing the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (“SDGs”) and taking the stewardship role in transitioning Malaysia towards a low-carbon future.
The stamps can be obtained at selected Pos Malaysia post offices and Philatelic Bureaus beginning 2 November, with the folder collection set retailing at RM38.00. Individually, the stamp and first day cover respectively will be sold at RM1.50 and RM0.50 each.
The stamp collection is centred around the concept of recycling, which is key in eliminating waste from a product’s life cycle. The act of recycling reduces the need for harvesting or producing new resources, and results in less energy consumption, less emission of harmful gases, and little to no waste generated.
UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei’s Executive Director, Faroze Nadar said, “Recycling plays a central role in helping the country achieve circular economy, which directly and indirectly contribute to the United Nation’s SDGs in realising the 2030 Agenda. At the heart of the 2030 Agenda, it seeks to tackle the five critical dimensions of People, Prosperity, Planet, Partnership and Peace, also known as the 5Ps. While recycling touches immediately on the 12th Goal of Responsible Consumption and Production, it has knock-on effects on almost all 17 of the Sustainable Development Goals.”
Pos Malaysia Berhad’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Charles Brewer said, “This is a truly amazing project for us to be part of and we are delighted to be able to partner with UNGCMYB as we aim to inspire meaningful action and encourage more Malaysians to join the recycling movement, accelerating the positive impacts of a circular economy. Pos Malaysia as an organisation that has been building trust for more than 200 years, connecting lives and businesses for a better tomorrow, and given our extensive reach and footprint in Malaysia, it is imperative that we continually renew our stewardship by championing sustainability for another 200 years.”
In support of this movement and of responsible management of the world’s forests, Pos Malaysia’s stamps, brochures and folders are made of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®)-certified materials that have been responsibly sourced. The national postal service provider also has plan to gradually switch to FSC-certified materials for other postal products in the near future.

Some analysts have expressed concern that Syed Mokhtar’s appetite for acquisitions make it appear as though he is “buying up the whole country.”
The Malaysian Insider also understands that Syed Mokhtar had earlier expressed interest in taking over more ports in the country, including in Kemaman, Penang, Kuantan, North Port and Tanjung Bruas.
Prior to winning the Pos Malaysia bid, Syed Mokhtar’s MMC Corp had also put in a failed bid for Plus Expressways Bhd which at the time, triggered concerns that the ownership of critical national infrastructure would be concentrated in the hands of a private businessman.
The tycoon’s growing empire, however, has come at a cost as his companies have racked up a total debt estimated at RM25 billion.
view positively the meaningful strategies set to be implemented through POSM’s transformation journey – implemented by newly appointed CEO Charles Brewer – which should turn the business around, with emphasis on cost efficiencies and improvements in service offerings.

Pos Malaysia on track with transformation plan (2023)
PETALING JAYA: Pos Malaysia Bhd remains cautiously optimistic that the group will deliver improved results in 2023.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, the company said it continued to make solid progress with its transformation plan, even in a weakening macroeconomic environment.
“The group was able to maximise its yields and efficiently utilise its assets.”
For its fourth quarter ended Dec 31, 2022, the postal and parcel service provider reported a lower net loss of RM98.42mil, compared with a net loss of RM123.21mil in the previous corresponding period.
Revenue stood at RM467.2mil in the fourth quarter against RM528.6mil a year earlier.
Its loss per share for the quarter stood at 12.57 sen from a loss per share of 15.74 sen last year.
For the full financial year ended Dec 31, 2022 (FY22), Pos Malaysia posted a net loss of RM167.7mil compared with a net loss of RM335.7mil for the corresponding period in 2021. This was delivered despite its revenue declining 10.5% to RM1.96bil in FY22 from RM2.19bil in FY21.
Pos Malaysia said the decrease of revenue in its postal segment by 19% was primarily contributed by the drop in courier business following the decrease in overall parcel volume, especially from contract customers.
“In addition, major eCommerce players leveraged on their insourced delivery capabilities while international players pursue penetration strategies to capture higher market share in courier business.”
Despite the lower revenue, the group said the loss before tax was reduced as a consequence to effective cost management efforts to optimise operating cost, as evidenced in lower transportation and delivery cost recorded during the financial period.
“The mutual separation scheme exercise has also contributed to the lower staff cost.
“Efforts to increase product yield resulted in higher average revenue per item during the period.”
In a separate statement, Pos Malaysia group chief executive officer Charles Brewer said the company continued to make solid progress with the transformation plan that it embarked on in August 2021.
“Even in an increasingly volatile and uncertain macroeconomic environment, we were able to maximise yields and efficiently sweat our assets.”
Meanwhile, Pos Malaysia said the ongoing challenges require continued structural changes.
“We will continue to focus on our transformation, adjusting the business model and capacity and tackling our unprofitable segments. Our operations are characterised by high fixed costs, which makes it challenging to quickly adapt capacity to changing volume trends.”
Pos Malaysia Bhd, by migrating to the cloud, had been able to navigate its business transformation to diversify beyond the traditional provision of mail and parcel delivery to now offer retail, logistics, and other innovative products and services.
For these companies, Anwar said an AWS region in Malaysia will further accelerate the transformation and the creation of innovative digital services, using the secure, high-performing, resilient, and trusted infrastructure.
"AWS has also signed the cloud framework agreement with the Malaysian government, giving a booster to cloud adoption in the public sector, and helping agencies save costs, enhance digital skills and drive innovation," he continued.
The digital economy's contribution to national gross domestic product (GDP) stood at 23.2% in 2021.
"Our goal of increasing the digital economy's contribution to 25.5% of Malaysia's GDP can be reached well by 2025. This is possible through public- and private-sector investments in digital infrastructure, human capital, business capacities, and improved public service delivery," he said.
