I recalled in 2016, I think it was in Nov month, JP Morgan analyst in HK did a sell call on AirAsia! I was puzzled how they arrived at the sell call then. I checked on my own records and valuation and was convinced nothing was really wrong! I decided to wait until the next annual report to see whether JP really sell their holdings in the top 30 list. To my surprise, their shareholdings actually increased.

Not sure if Citigroup is doing the same thing?

GMT research house, JP Morgan HK and now Citigroup HK. For some reasons all coming out of HK.

While I cannot know exactly what they are trying to do, it is my view that their reputation is not very good judging from the recent past! GMT Research House have been quiet since they did a big issue on the accumulated losses on AirAsia Indonesia!

shrobin I agree with you. I remember the JP Morgan incident as well in 2016. No real rhyme or reason - just like this citi analyst. They say they expect AA earnings to decline by 13% vs 11% earnings growth by competitors. Like huh? Why? How did they arrive at this? AA consistently leads the industry especially during challenging periods. Number of passengers carried are breaching new highs. Citi provides no basis for its analysis. But a lot of nervous retail players play right into it and start dumping their shares. Those of us who have been AA investors long enough can recognize this old game played by these unscrupulous IBs.

for sure all sell call didnt holding any share. they maybe waiting at low entry price. for the buy call then terbalik. AA are cash rich, market share growing, stable company. i wont sell but looking low price to top up.

I was surprised at not only JP Morgan HK but also GMT. If GMT is professional, they should have follow up to explain what was the issue now! It was not a small issue then! It has caused many people lost money because of panic selling! I was a bit more lucky to have bought some during then. What about those innocent guys that have sold out due to GMT report? Not sure if you can still find the video where GMT released that has caused the panic sell down in 2015.
