"To put into a scenario, let's say if [AAGB group CEO Tan Sri] Tony Fernandes is the executive involved and if he is charged by the MACC, then he would have to resign from all positions held, and to sell off his stakes, which directly and indirectly total to about 32%," said the analyst.

If by chance Fernandes is charged by the MACC, it would pose a "very substantial impact" on the share price, the analyst said.

"Today's selloff could be only the first wave, the final wave would be when MACC announces the outcome and it happens to be Fernandes," the analyst added. On top of this, the coronavirus outbreak is seen to be likely weigh on the aviation counter's financial performance.

Reuters reported that Asian shares were dragged to near two-month lows on Monday by Chinese markets, which plunged on their first trading day after a long break on fears the coronavirus epidemic would hit demand in the world's second-largest economy.

Aiming to head off any panic, the Chinese government took steps to shore up an economy hit by travel curbs and business shut-downs because of the virus, added the newswire.

"While China's losses were heavy, they were mostly a product of selling pressure that had built up over the Lunar New Year break, not a reflection of new market fears. In contrast, futures for the US and European shares inched up, oil pared early losses while safe havens Japanese yen and gold stepped back from recent highs," Reuters wrote.

Sell to EPF or khazanah :)

A local aviation analyst, on condition of anonymity, said AAGB is now weighed down by uncertainty, and "it is now crucial to find out who exactly are the executives involved in the reported corruption".

"To put into a scenario, let's say if [AAGB group CEO Tan Sri] Tony Fernandes is the executive involved and if he is charged by the MACC, then he would have to resign from all positions held, and to sell off his stakes, which directly and indirectly total to about 32%," said the analyst.

According to Bloomberg data, AAGB has 23 research houses covering the counter, with five buy calls and nine hold and sell ratings respectively :)

Why TF need to sell off his stakes if he’s being charged or resigned?

I think the missing point here is what did Airbus sponsored? Like in any F1 races, where you see big brands on the car, does it mean these companies are also corrupted?

Seemed there is bad faith to put AA into a bad light.

Btw just Googled Caterham F1 car, there is Airbus, GE, Pirelli, AirAsia...MACC, Mavcom should also investigate these companies too, except AA laa.

The court document is not evidence becoz they did not gone thru full court case..it is not to use as evidence against to tony n airasia. They did not even summon all the involved parties to verify the evidence. Its all one sided argument on airbus.

Despite Paktua's siren voices, sphinxlike smile and 'to fight tooth and nail'poems', Airasia would have a tough time to navigate the Stygian gloom of the allegations.

Witch hunt for Tony's head to roll so that the vested ones can gobble up AA. A rear end strategy cooked up by rear ended minds. This rear end games started in 1997 and still continuing.

Even if they managed to arm twist AA the merger will still be a failure because past results from various endeavours speaks volume of their capability.
