Then look at Timecome they are not a big play in telco but their share much higher then main Telco like TM, Digi n Maxis why? Its because their hv multi bisnes with other partner link in Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia n other country, same like AA they hv semiliar bisness not just only once bisnes cargo so dun look at plane color but look at what they hv in bisness, hotel etc.

Victor Yong do u understand what is big data? It is not magic. AA don't have financial data of anyone. They only have the payment data of their customer. They don't have any unique advantage going into fintech.

Fintech are not a easy field to make money. There are already too many players in it. AA don't have fintech domain knowledge can they afford to burn large amount of money to acquire talents and customers while they desperately need to preserve cash?

Cambodia lifts ban on travellers from US, Iran and four European countries
Author: Tan KW | Publish date: Wed, 20 May 2020, 6:38 PM

PHNOM PENH : Cambodia on Wednesday (May 20) lifted a ban on foreign travellers from the United States, Iran, and four European countries after the kingdom has reported no new Covid-19 infections for more than a month.

Health Minister Mam Bunheng said in a statement that Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen approved the lifting of the ban on Tuesday.

Cambodia imposed the ban on foreign visitors from the US, Iran, Italy, Germany, Spain and France since mid-March to stem the spread of the Covid-19.

The ban lifting came after the country has detected no new Covid-19 cases since April 12, and all 122 Covid-19 patients in the kingdom have recovered.

However, Bunheng said, entry restrictions for all foreigners to Cambodia remained in effect.

All travellers, both Cambodians and foreigners, wishing to travel to Cambodia must provide a health certificate issued by competent health authorities of their country within 72 hours, certifying that they are not tested positive for the Covid-19, he said.

Moreover, foreign travellers must provide proof of their insurance policy that shows minimum medical coverage during their intended stay in Cambodia in the amount not less than US$50,000, he added.

The minister said the requirements for health certificate and insurance do not apply to any foreigner holding diplomatic visa (Visa A) or official visa (Visa B) of Cambodia.

He said all travellers, both Cambodians and foreigners, who travel to Cambodia will be transferred to waiting centres for Covid-19 lab tests and they must wait for their test results at those centres.

"If one or many of the passengers is tested positive for Covid-19, the rest of the passengers (in the same group) will be quarantined for 14 days," Bunheng said.

He added that for travellers who have been tested negative for the virus, they will be required to quarantine at their homes for 14 days under the monitoring from local authorities and health officials, and they will be required to test for the virus again on the 13th day of the quarantine.

I wouldn't buy unless next quarter result show it could survive.

Just look at previous airasia quarter report.
It has net cash of 2.6 billion. (last quarter)
Operating expenses last quarter: 3.4 billion.

Just take current quarter,
let say they manage to cut operating expenses by 30%=2.4 billion.
And u try to figure out how much business they have for this few months.

If airasia didn't end up in debt, i would say it is a big success already.

There is reason why airline fall one by one. Do u still think all other fallen airline unable to survive because of their management and brand... Do u think Warren Buffet sold all his airline share out of emotion....
I'm not asking u all to buy or sell.
Think, read and make ur decision.
I might be wrong too...

One more thing i would like to stress is that: (bacause a lot of ppl told me air asia will get better since they resume flight)
Resume flight does not translate into profit
If the money u collected (number of passenger ) less than ur operating expenses, u r still doing a losing business.

AirAsia is likely to report losses for Q1, 2020. With unpaid leave, pay cut among the staff, etc etc, hopefully the cash balance is sufficient to cover the operating expenses till flight is back to normal.

AAX in the respective countries will seek helps, etc in their respective countries.

But, still AirAsia which focuses on domestic flights and with other biz segments seem to have greater recovery prospect. Good luck!

Domestic airline networks to lead post-COVID-19 AsiaPac rebound
The COVID-19 crisis shows that while it is good to have a globally diverse network, a strong domestic operation is a major advantage for airlines when a shock disrupts international traffic flows.

Industry logic holds that a broad spread of international routes lessens an airline’s reliance on any single market – including its home patch. So if a downturn occurs in one country or region, airlines can divert resources to areas that are not affected. Many successful airlines have built their models around this concept.

And that approach makes sense – until something like a pandemic appears out of nowhere to trigger global border closures. Then domestic networks become a godsend, and the giant airline companies that depend on international connecting traffic look more exposed.

While international travel was the first to be hit, COVID-19 has caught up with many domestic networks as governments are increasingly shutting down internal movement. But domestic networks can be expected to return sooner, and demand should also rebound more quickly.

The Asia-Pacific region illustrates the benefits and limitations of different approaches. Although having domestic routes will not guarantee success, they should provide a valuable foundation for many airlines’ eventual recoveries.

MSCI's gauge of stocks across the globe gained 1.36% to within 1 point of 500, after the benchmark was unable to climb past 495 the past three weeks. The pan-European STOXX 600 index rose 0.98% to close just shy of a three-week high, led by the tech, chemicals and energy sectors. On Wall Street, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 369.04 points, or 1.52%, to 24,575.9. The S&P 500 gained 48.67 points, or 1.67%, to 2,971.61 and the Nasdaq Composite added 190.67 points, or 2.08%, to 9,375.78.

NEW YORK: A gauge of global equities broke out of a three-week trading range on Wednesday as investors bet on a rapid recovery from the coronavirus-induced recession.

Oil prices climbed 3%-4% on signs of improving demand and a drawdown in U.S. crude inventories, while a surge in Facebook Inc and Amazon.com Inc to record highs lifted the Nasdaq to within 5% of its all-time peak.

U.S. Treasury yields were little changed and gold edged higher, but gains were limited as risk appetite improved.

The markets are expecting economic recovery sooner rather than later, though there is a risk the slowdown isn't as temporary as some think, said Michael Arone, chief investment strategist at State Street Global Advisors in Boston.

"There's a view that as the economy reopens there hasn't been, so far, a resurgence in the hospitalization rates and that perhaps some of the 'worst-ever' data that we've seen will soon be behind us," Arone said.

Federal Reserve policymakers re-upped a pledge to keep interest rates near zero until they are confident the U.S. economy is on track to recovery, a detailed summary of their most recent policy-setting meeting showed.

U.S. crude futures rose $1.53 to settle at $33.49 a barrel, while Brent gained $1.10 to settle at $35.75 a barrel.

The euro extended gains on Monday's French-German proposal for a 500 billion euro common fund that could move Europe closer to a fiscal union.

The euro rose 0.51% to $1.0977 and the dollar index fell 0.382%. The Japanese yen strengthened 0.15% versus the greenback at 107.57 per dollar.

Why Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, and Southwest Airlines Stocks Are Up Wednesday
A positive prediction from Delta pulls the other airlines up with it.

Rich Smith(TMFDitty)
May 20, 2020 at 2:09PM
What happened
Airline stocks were getting a second wind in early afternoon trading Wednesday, with shares of Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) leading the charge with a 4.1% gain as of 12:15 p.m. EDT today. Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV) stock and American Airlines Group (NASDAQ:AAL) were not far behind, climbing 4% and 2.5%, respectively. Credit for the surge must go to Delta.

So what
Speaking on Fox Business this morning, Delta CEO Edward Bastian predicted that after months of flight reductions, Delta will probably execute a turn in the near future and begin slowly increasing capacity again in June and July.

Currently, the air travel business remains slow, and Delta's load factor is about 35% to 40%, Bastian said. But the company believes it can grow to 60% even if that means keeping middle seats open to promote social distancing on its airplanes.

4 airplanes viewed from various anglesIMAGE SOURCE: GETTY IMAGES.
Bastian added, "Once we get close to 60% on an individual route, that'll be the trigger for us to add more planes into the system." Judging from current trends, he believes the company will probably add about 200 flights in June, and then 200 or 300 more in July. And this is a trend he sees continuing over the next 12 to 18 months.

Now what
Bastian was speaking about domestic travel trends. He cautions that international traffic, which is subject to travel bans and advisories from multiple countries that could slow a recovery, probably won't start coming back until 2021.

Still, if a revival is going to happen, domestic travel is probably the place Delta would like to see it happen first. According to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence, in ordinary years, Delta derives more than 70% of its annual revenue from domestic flights, and less than 30% from international travel.

And if what holds true for Delta applies to other airlines, then American Airlines and Southwest could benefit from this trend even more. American does 73.5% of its business domestically, and Southwest more than 97%!

For that matter, even United Airlines Holdings (NASDAQ:UAL), the U.S. carrier most exposed to international business (37.5% of revenue comes from Atlantic, Pacific, and Latin American travel), should be hoping for a revival of U.S. domestic traffic most of all.

AirAsia cargo, ok?

A worker transfers cargo boxes to a plane, amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak, in Sepang, Malaysia May 14, 2020.- MAB Kargo/Handout via REUTERS

KUALA LUMPUR: Global demand for safety gear has helped Malaysia's state-owned air cargo carrier MAB Kargo record "impressive" profits since February by exporting products from the world's biggest producer of medical gloves, its CEO said.

MAB Kargo had raised freight rates by as much as 50% in some cases and added capacity on high-demand routes as the coronavirus pandemic also sparked high demand for face masks and medical gowns, Chief Executive Ibrahim Mohamed Salleh told Reuters.

"I can only say profitability has increased noticeably. Whilst I cannot share the numbers, I would say it is impressive," Ibrahim said in a phone interview.

Malaysia's medical glove exports are expected to jump about 32% to 225 billion pieces this year, the government said, while the gloves association said supplies were being urgently air-lifted to Europe, Australia, Canada and America as customers did not want to wait for the usual sea route.

MAB Kargo's jump in performance comes as sister company Malaysia Airlines has been forced to ground most of its planes as the coronavirus pandemic hammered global travel.

The cargo arm typically contributes 10%-15% of group revenue to holding company MalaysiaAviation Group, but has contributed up to 25% in the past few months as demand has increased by as much as 50%, Ibrahim said.

Freight rates have risen by up to 50% since mid-March, and the carrier had converted a few passenger aircraft to move cargoes as well operating its three freighter aircraft in the absence of belly cargo space.

"Rates have risen quite substantially, to the point that it is profitable to operate an A330 passenger aircraft filled with about 20 tonnes of cargo back and forth," he said, referring to the wide-body airliner made by Airbus.

The company also sent another wide-body Airbus A380 passenger plane to London with e-commerce goods from Guangzhou last month. - Reuters

Rasa boleh go up today :)

GEORGE TOWN (May 20): The Penang Government has proposed to implement a 'travel bubble' approach between States declared as green zones to help the tourism sector recover.

The concept, which has also been proposed in Australia and New Zealand, is designed to ease into resuming travel and restart tourism industries while adapting to the new normal.

In a statement today, Penang Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said the concept was one of the measures studied in efforts to plan ahead once the Federal Government lifts the ban on interstate travel.

"As Penang is currently practising the Gradual Recovery Strategy, this could be a viable solution to begin with, rather than opening all our borders at once and risking transmission again, which will bring us back to square one and bring to waste the efforts to contain the virus which took us months," he said.

He said the gradual and staggered approach would allow safe travel zones between green zones and reopen economies for the tourism sector.

On the other hand, Yeoh said the initial stage of the concept would only be limited to tourist attractions in Penang before expanding into other States.

"We could kick-start the tourism economy gradually, but through constant monitoring of the progress before we proceed, as it is a State priority to ensure that the State remains a green zone before Penang opens its tourism borders to welcome others," he said, adding that the proposed approach will be raised during the upcoming tourism task force meeting.

AirAsia cargo division must grab whatever opportunity arises :)

KUALA LUMPUR (May 20): This period of uncertainty brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic should be viewed as an opportunity to strengthen the global supply chain systems which the world has relied on so much, said Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Secretariat executive director Tan Sri Dr Rebecca Sta Maria.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has shown us that global medical supply chains - crucial in the fight against this and future pandemics - may still have vulnerabilities, bottlenecks and integrity issues.

“Many around the world have not been spared shortages of medical equipment, medicines and basic protective equipment,” she said in the APEC Bulletin.

She said although there are predictions about the effects of this pandemic, including whether it will reverse globalisation and erode trust in global supply chains, it is perhaps an opportunity to strengthen it.

“This period of uncertainty should be looked upon as an opportunity to strengthen the systems that we’ve grown to rely on so much over the years and more so now during a crisis,” she said.

This could mean setting clear-cut standards and comprehensive security programmes to build more resilient supply chains that facilitate steady flow of medicine, vaccines, and personal protective equipment, Sta Maria said.

“Done right, these measures will strengthen the credibility and transparency of these supply chains. Positive changes of this sort will go a long way in galvanizing trust in our system, processes and procedures, in so doing have us in a state of preparedness in the event of future health crises.”

APEC, she said, has a number of tools in place that can help economies find such solutions. Specifically, there is an already existing supply chain security toolkit, which sets protocols and serves as a roadmap for the promotion of global medical product quality and supply chain security.

This toolkit, established alongside regulators, industry stakeholders, representatives from non-governmental organisations, international organisations, and academics, aims to maximise the use of public and private partnerships and other available resources, she said.

All in all, the toolkit is intended to cover the entire supply chain and life cycle of medical products.

She said industry, policy makers, and regulators, like the World Health Organisation (WHO), now see the crucial and immediate need to address disruptions to the smooth flow and movement of medical supplies globally, as well as the appearance of illegitimate products.

“The implementation of the APEC supply chain security toolkit can surely make supply chains more secure. This toolkit, relevant as it is, was endorsed in 2017. Clearly there are still gaps that need to be filled and now is the best time to address them,” she said.

APEC, which has 21 members including Malaysia, is a regional economic forum established in 1989 to leverage the growing interdependence of the Asia-Pacific.

Hong Kong (CNN) — Amid the global Covid-19 pandemic, people around the world are wondering when life will return to "normal."

The word normal is, of course, relative, but a spate of domestic flight routes slowly opening up in Asia and the Pacific give clues into what the aviation industry could look like in the weeks and months ahead.

China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and Australia are among the countries set to resume or increase domestic flights as the virus wanes.

Many of these flights are government subsidized and solely for the purpose of transporting cargo. Though some are open to public bookings, others will only issue tickets to emergency personnel or essential workers who need to get around.

Think of these flights as a dress rehearsal for a gradual re-upping of the aviation industry.
Budget carrier AirAsia is one of the airlines ramping up their flight schedule. They restarted domestic flights in Malaysia on April 29 and their affiliates will be adding Thailand (May 1), India (May 4), Indonesia (May 7), and the Philippines (May 16) to their roster barring any government issues.

Indonesia has the world's biggest Muslim population. It just banned holiday travel over Ramadan

Meanwhile, Qantas has resumed some domestic flights between major cities in Australia, with the caveat that these are part of the "minimum domestic and regional network" underwritten by the national government.
"Melbourne to Sydney is the second busiest [air] route in the world," a Qantas spokesman explains. "Normally we do a five flights an hour, and now we're doing seven per week."
Currently, these flights are reserved for emergency personnel and private citizens cannot purchase tickets. But they are keeping planes in the sky and pilots in practice, both of which are important steps toward bringing the airline back to full service.

"These are not commercially viable. We're still way off from unrestricted travel between states in Australia," the spokesman continues, noting that Qantas estimates leisure flights between Australian states will likely resume mid-June.

Airlines are scrambling to understand and implement new coronavirus travel restrictions
In Thailand, some low-cost airlines announced they will resume domestic flights from May 1 following a temporary suspension.

In Vietnam, domestic flights are being run by VietJet, Bamboo Airways and Jetstar. As of April 23, there were 20 flights a day between the country's two largest cities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Social distancing regulations require at least one empty seat between passengers, so none of the flights are operating at full capacity.

According to local media, certain tourist hotspots in Vietnam have received the green light to again welcome domestic visitors. This has much to do with Vietnam's quick response to the coronavirus crisis. The country has only logged 268 infections and zero deaths.

Flights will remain at 5 percent to the past volumes for foreseeable future. So the profit margins on that 5 is not sustainable. So airline industry is dead. Sell at their blips. Today if they goreng exit.
