Coronavirus: Russia plans mass vaccination campaign in October

Russian health authorities are preparing to start a mass vaccination campaign against coronavirus in October, the health minister has said.

Russian media quoted Mikhail Murashko as saying that doctors and teachers would be the first to receive the vaccine.
Reuters, citing anonymous sources, said Russia's first potential vaccine would be approved by regulators this month.

Commentary on prospects
33. Profit forecast
34. Corporate proposal
35. Material litigation
36. Proposed dividend
The Directors did not recommend any dividend for the quarter ended 31 March 2020.
As at 24th July 2020, there was no material litigation taken or threatened against the Company and its subsidiaries.
The disclosure requirement is not applicable as the Group did not publish any profit forecast.
There was no corporate proposal which is announced but not completed as at 24th July 2020, being the latest
practicable date of this report.
AirAsia X will not be able to restart scheduled operations until there is an easing of travel restrictions and a gradual
reopening of international borders, in recognition that air transport provides the connectivity that is essential for the
resumption of economic activities. Malaysia itself will remain under the ‘Recovery Movement Control Order’ until the
end of August, which effectively prohibits outbound and inbound international travel, while the Australian borders
remain closed and there are limitations still in place in China, Japan, India and Korea.
In order to maintain liquidity during these challenging times, we have sought payment deferrals and concessions from
our suppliers, lessors and lenders and reduced capital expenditure wherever possible. Salary reductions have been
implemented across all levels of the Company apart from the most junior staff, and headcount has been reduced by
10%, with further reductions planned, primarily in the flight operations related functions.
We have also restructured a major portion of our fuel hedges, and are still in process of restructuring the remaining
exposure. The actual volume of fuel consumed, as compared to the hedged volume, will be lower in the post-COVID-
19 environment and a restructuring of the fuel hedges will reduce expected hedging losses if fuel price remains below
the hedged price.
We have applied for bank loans to improve liquidity and have commenced bilateral negotiations with our aircraft
lessors and maintenance partners to significantly reduce the operating cost base of the Company. This process is
ongoing.
In the current circumstances, the Company continues to face severe liquidity constraints. The Management and the
Directors will continue to seek additional liquidity and work towards a material reduction of the Company’s cost base
to enable AirAsia X to continue as a going concern in the post Covid-19 environmen

Group chief executive officer Nadda Buranasiri said its operating environment was aggravated by the Covid-19 outbreak in the beginning of this year.

“AAX Malaysia scaled down flight frequency to all markets in several phases beginning with China in February, ” he said in a statement.

In mitigating the adverse effects of Covid-19, it has had to undertake the temporary hibernation of fleet under AAX Group, as AAX Malaysia suspended all scheduled operations from March 28, while AAX Thailand’s scheduled operations have been suspended from March 16.

Commentary on prospects
AirAsia Group has been severely affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic. AirAsia temporarily
hibernated most of its fleet across the network in late March 2020 due to increasing movement
restrictions.
Since the end of April 2020, AirAsia has resumed domestic travel in Malaysia (29 April), Thailand
(1 May), India (25 May), Philippines (5 June) and Indonesia (18 June). We are gradually adding
frequencies and opening routes in the domestic sector, with the advice and regulations from
government and health authorities. Since the resumption of domestic services, demand has been
positive, with our load factors increasing week by week. Competition has also been rational in their
pricing.
AirAsia Group is looking forward to the gradual reopening of international borders in recognition
that air transport provides the connectivity that is essential for the resumption of economic
activities. The formation and discussion of “travel bubbles” and “green lanes” with key economic
partners with a low infection rate and proven pandemic curbing systems, is a step in the right
direction. The aviation and tourism sectors account for around 4% and 10% of world GDP,
respectively. Over 65 million jobs are supported worldwide in the aviation sector, while 1 in 10
jobs around the world is contributed by the tourism sector.
To ensure sufficient working capital during these challenging times, we have sought payment
deferrals from our suppliers and lenders. We have also restructured a major portion of the fuel
hedges with our supportive counterparties and are still in process of restructuring the remaining
exposure. This will help deal with the excess of hedged volume against expected fuel consumption
post-COVID-19 and reduce the hedging losses if fuel price remains at today’s prices. Further
measures in managing and containing cost include both the management and senior employees of
AirAsia Group volunteering a salary sacrifice, re-negotiating contracts and deferring all non-
essential expenditures. While confirmed initiatives so far is expected to result in at least a 30% cost
reduction YoY in 2020, we are hopeful of further cost reduction than 30% in 2020.
We have applied for bank loans in our operating countries to shore up our liquidity. We have also
been presented with proposals to raise capital to strengthen its equity base and/or liquidity from a
number of investment bankers, lenders as well as potential investors to help the Company weather
the storm caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, AirAsia has ongoing deliberations with a
number of parties for joint-ventures and collaborations that may result in additional third party
investments in specific segments of the group's business.

Covid unpredictable situation has resulted in various government attempts to solve a problem that are piecemeal or superficial, resulting only in temporary or minor improvement. As Covid will be with us for a long time, it will be “survivor of the fittest“ situation since borders will remain closed for leisure travel. The hit on aviation, leisure, hospitality, tourism, gaming, retail sectors etc will be absolutely brutal.

That’s the beauty of equity investment in uncertain times. Everyone has their own point of views. Otherwise, it will just be a boring market. Celebrate when it was a right call and take the hit and move on when it was the wrong call.

SIA groups...Scoot, MI n Tiger...Zero domestic flight...No other source of revenue...pax n cargo only. AA...some domestics flights in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Philippines n maybe Japan. Plus cargo, red ventures, maybe BigPay, etc...N AA has positive cash flow from operations.

AA cannot depends on "Vaccine" to drive back profitability. If you look at the availability of vaccine,
you have to understand, ALL( yes all) vaccine will be for Americans and EU citizens from late
2020 to mid -2021. I think it is some-where bet. late 2021 and early 2022, you will see Vaccine
arriving to ASEAN region and China (Japan / Korea excluded)

Really quite Depressing. Asian still has to depends on social distancing and Mask. For that reason, it is better to do "social distancing " to AA shares

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 2): Malaysia reported as at noon today 14 new Covid-19 cases, of which 13 were locally transmitted cases involving Malaysians. The sole imported case involved a foreigner, who had returned from the Philippines.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement today the 14 new Covid-19 cases brought the cumulative number of infected individuals in the country to 8,999 so far.

"As such, the total number of active and infective Covid-19 cases is 210. They have been isolated and given [medical] treatment," Noor Hisham said.
