dear fellow investors, what do you think Q2 result is going to be for airasia? It will probably be the worst qtr result ever with the whole Q months planed grounded...and with that confirmation, there is little to no hope of holding on to the shares, unless you are a key shareholder. If you are only a retail investor, sell and buy after the Q2 announcement when the price will get whacked... just my 2 sen advice - resumption of flights is not a "good" news its only an expected news... and theres a big difference

The shares fell as much as 5.1% to S$3.35, the lowest intraday price since September 1998, before paring to close S$3.42, down 11 Singapore cents from a day earlier. The stock, which has declined by almost half this year, was among the worst performers Thursday on a Bloomberg gauge of carriers in the Asia-Pacific region.

SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines Ltd’s shares fell to their lowest price in more than 21 years after the carrier posted its biggest quarterly loss ever as the coronavirus wiped out travel demand.

Air traffic the world over has plunged because the pandemic led to tight border controls and a reluctance to travel.

The International Air Transport Association said Tuesday the airline industry is unlikely to recover fully before 2024.

The situation is particularly difficult for carriers like Singapore Airlines that have no domestic market to cushion the blow.

The net loss in the three months through June was S$1.12bil (US$815mil), compared with net income of S$111mil a year earlier.

Sales dropped 79% to S$851mil, and traffic measured by revenue passenger per kilometre sank 99.5%.

CGS-CIMB analyst Raymond Yap cut his recommendation on Singapore Airlines to a “hold” from “add” following the results.

He has a S$3.55 price target on the stock.

Singapore Airlines said on Wednesday its passenger capacity still may be less than half of pre-coronavirus levels by the end of its fiscal year next March.

The airline also said it is reviewing its network to determine the size and mix of its fleet over the longer term.

The review, which should be completed by the end of this quarter, could lead to a material impairment of about S$1bil on the carrying values of older generation aircraft, particularly Airbus SE A380s, Singapore Airlines said.

The carrier’s fuel hedging policy led to a S$535mil loss in the quarter, while there was also a S$127mil hit from the liquidation of NokScoot Airlines Co.

Singapore Airlines owned a 49% stake in the low-cost Thai carrier that collapsed in June.

Singapore Airlines was operating only to 24 cities by the end of June.

Its SilkAir unit ceased most operations except for flights to Chongqing, China, and it suspended flights to the Thai resort island of Koh Samui.

Low-cost unit Scoot operated a minimal network to cities such as Hong Kong and Perth, Australia.

Passenger capacity at the end of the second quarter is forecast to be about 7% of the level before Covid-19.

Out of a fleet of 213 passenger aircraft, only 32 are being deployed, the airline said. — Bloomberg

have to sell profitable tune protect to help airasia and aax :)

The company said in a statement that the higher earnings were mainly contributed by its Malaysian general insurance subsidiary, which benefited from a decrease in net claims, management expenses, as well as an increase in unrealised investment gain.

PETALING JAYA: Tune Protect Group Bhd’s net profit rose 17.64% to RM12.6mil for the second quarter ended June 30 from RM10.7mil in the corresponding period last year.

The company said in a statement that the higher earnings were mainly contributed by its Malaysian general insurance subsidiary, which benefited from a decrease in net claims, management expenses, as well as an increase in unrealised investment gain.

During the quarter in review, Tune Protect’s revenue fell 18.9% to RM100.9mil from RM124.5mil in the previous corresponding period, while its earnings per share rose to 1.68 sen from 1.42 sen previously.

The fundraising chase has become many founders’ singular focus — and the constant barrage of sexy headlines of yet another ‘successful multi-zillion round’ is only adding fuel to the fire.

But I think those screaming founders are wrong. Finding funding isn’t the hardest thing. Finding customers is.

PARIS: Europe’s Airbus announced a new cut in production of its marquee A350 jet as it swung to a larger-than-expected second-quarter loss in the face of global pandemic.

The planemaker also said it hoped to avoid consuming cash in the second half of the year after a second-quarter outflow of 4.4 billion euros as deliveries tumbled because of the collapse in air travel caused by the coronavirus.

“We believe it is going to be a long and slow recovery, ” chief executive Guillaume Faury told reporters, adding that travel was picking up but more slowly than previously expected.

The crisis has particularly affected demand for wide-body long-haul jets, which are expected to be the slowest to recover once demand returns to normal levels, which Airbus says could take until 2023 or 2025.

Airbus said it had cut wide-body A350 production to five jets a month, after bringing it down from 9.5 to six in April.

The move came a day after US rival Boeing announced further cuts in output of 787 and 777 jets, which compete with the A350 on depressed long-haul networks.

Airbus is shedding up to 15,000 jobs or 11% of its workforce to cope with the crisis, which it expects to hold output down by 40% for some two years compared with pre-crisis levels. “We are reducing the costs across the board given the new situation, ” Faury said.

Airbus posted an adjusted second-quarter operating loss of 1.226 billion euros (US$1.44bil) as revenues slid 55% to 8.317 billion. Analysts saw a loss of 1.027 billion on revenues of 8.552 billion, according to a company-compiled consensus.

Losses include 900 million euros of balance sheet impairment charges related to the industry’s worst crisis and Airbus warned it could have to take further provisions of between 1.2 billion and 1.6 billion euros linked to the restructuring.

Like many companies wrestling with the economic impact of lockdowns, Airbus suspended formal forecasts earlier this year.

But in what one analyst described as “soft guidance, ” Faury said it was the company’s “ambition” not to consume cash in the second half before M

SINGAPORE - Singapore Airlines (SIA) will be taking more drastic measures to rein in costs, including bigger pay cuts for the management, a 10 per cent salary reduction for other staff, and early retirement for ground staff and pilots.

The full quantum of the monthly variable component of salaries will be cut from Saturday (Aug 1), in accordance with the group's collective agreements with its unions after the first-quarter operating loss for SIA and its regional full-service arm SilkAir.

This amounts to 10 per cent of the basic salary for all staff below the level of manager, said SIA chief Goh Choon Phong in a notice to staff this week.

Selling Tune Protect to save AA and AAX = Selling your profitable and rising stocks and keep those losing stocks. Should keep the former and cut losses of the latter.
