When ppl too fearful it means it's about time to collect especially company as big as AirAsia and also a very important entity to the nation. Valued investors will surely not going to let this golden opportunity evaporated just like that especially investors could buy over the company at a much cheaper price.

Number of new cases in US - on its way down. Here the so called famous bloggers/sharks won't show you this news, only if cases increased a lot then they will widely publicise the news.

Do you think MAS could be able to handle all the flights by themselves ? MAS already in the red for so many years since the time Renong and UEM. MAS if not because of gomen pumping billions into it, MAS should already became an embarrassment to the nation long time ago.

greedy44444 want say value then confirm know Warren Buffett lo. Even he sold all of his airline positions at a loss. Not to mention DAL and LUV are at much better financial positions than AA. If airline industry got value he dk? The sector these few years really a bit susah. If cannot secure loan or RI, confirm bankrupt. And RI will dilute the shares by a lot so back to RM1 also hard la. Stay away for now.

AirAsia is toast. 1st quarter losses were Rm800m, even with about 80% of the previous quarter's revenue. Q2 from Apr-Jun will have less than half of the Q4 revenue. AirAsia will easily incur more than Rm1b losses. Going forward, few will fly. With covid expected to last a long time, airline business is being devastated. Virgin already gone bankrupt in Australia and the US. Even if AsiaAsia can prevail, its share price will be crashed to 10 sen or worst before it gets better. 50 sen per share now is still a lot better than 10 sen in a few months. Preserve you capital while you still can. Run.

I have warned you before.

Stock: [AIRASIA]: AIRASIA GROUP BHD

Jul 2, 2020 1:47 PM

AirAsia share is toast. EPF cut losses and ran. Warren Buffett did the same with airlines shares. AirAsia still can't get its Jan-Mar QR out. Imagine how bad the QR for Apr-Jun will be? Run on the next rally, should there be one. Should have cleared out on Jun 10. Budget airlines like AirAsia need volume to make a profit. That is not going to happen as long as the virus problem is not solved. God luck.

Negotiations for government aid for Garuda move slowly

JAKARTA: Indonesia’s flag carrier needs cash fast as losses soar past a half-billion dollars and unpaid bills pile up, yet negotiations for government aid move slowly and still may not yield enough to cover the shortfall.

A first-half loss of US$713mil, announced last week, was just the latest piece of bad news for PT Garuda Indonesia.

The airline already missed a payment on an asset-backed security in late July, shortly after extending the repayment of a US$500mil sukuk – an Islamic bond – by three years because of its cash crunch.

And it’s facing a lawsuit in London over aircraft rental fees. One measure shows Garuda at risk of bankruptcy.

Some salvation could come from the government, which in May pledged to extend 8.5 trillion rupiah (US$580mil) to the airline as part of a US$10bil package to a dozen state-owned companies.

But it hasn’t come yet. Garuda president director Irfan Setiaputra said he was still in talks with authorities over the weekend, without giving any timing for the injection. Analysts warn it is unlikely to suffice anyway.

“It would be difficult for the company to stand on its own with only a 8.5 trillion rupiah bailout, ” said Chandra Pasaribu, head of research at Yuanta Securities. “Without growth of its top line, it won’t be enough.”

Garuda’s Z-score, a method developed by Edward Altman in the 1960s to predict bankruptcies, was -0.05 at the end of the first quarter, its lowest in at least a decade.

The most recent figures on traffic show Garuda’s passenger numbers plunged 98% in May from a year earlier, and by mid-July it had furloughed 825 staff after previously cutting salaries.

Indonesia remains in the grip of the pandemic with more than 113,000 confirmed cases. The International Air Transport Association doesn’t expect the airline industry to fully recover before 2024, a bleak outlook that is reflected in Garuda’s share price, which has slumped more than 50% this year.

Garuda said in last Thursday’s earnings statement that it’s in talks with AerCap Holdings NV to restructure contracts after the Dublin-based firm filed a lawsuit on unpaid aircraft leases.

Garuda said it has “negotiated with Aercap several times.” The airline also is in payment talks with Helice Leasing SAS.

Garuda and its low-cost unit, Citilink, lease most of their 210 aircraft. Rental costs were the equivalent of about 25% of the company’s revenue last year, the most among nearly 60 carriers tracked by Bloomberg.

Setiaputra, who took over Garuda in January, just as the virus was erupting in China, has said there would be a review of the airline’s fleet and network.

At the end of 2019, Garuda had US$299mil in cash and cash equivalents. That figure shrunk to just US$165mil at the end of June.

Operating expenses amounted to US$1.6bil in the first six months of this year, with about US$700mil of that in cash expenses to suppliers and staff salaries.

“Garuda is clearly losing money real fast, ” said Shukor Yusof, founder of aviation consulting firm Endau Analytics Pte Ltd in Malaysia. — Bloomberg

In future which airlines going to fly you to your destination without AAX and AirAsia ? MAS ? Malindo ? MAS and Malindo also facing the same problem la...Next time Malaysian just stay at home, no planes going to bring you to your destination. Even you use other airlines, the fares that you going to pay is definitely beyond your imagination because of no competition from low cost airlines, all closed shop already.

so risky, if RI, target price RM0.4+ only?

On the other hand, AAGB also plans to raise up to RM1.4bn to strengthen its equity base, which can be by means of new issuance of shares and/or via private placement. For illustration, with illustrative entitlement basis of 2 rights shares for every 3 AAGB shares held at an illustrative issue price of RM0.63 per rights share (based on RM1.4bn proceeds), the rights issue may entail an issuance of up to 2.2bn new shares based on current enlarged number of shares. As such, the Group’s net asset is estimated to be diluted from RM0.89 to RM0.53 per share while our TP would fall to RM0.47 post rights issuance. Any proposal for rights issue however will require an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) to gain shareholder approval. Nevertheless, we understand that rights issue may not be the favoured option at this juncture.
