The Personal Data Protection Department (JPDP) today confirmed that there is no issue of leakage and sale of personal data involving AirAsia Bhd Group..... Whether other countries have similar views???

@Jeffreyteck Of course, all data should be subjected to Personal Data Protection Act. The CEO should not even touch on the matter in his Press interviews.

So if Mr. Tony couldn't bailout AirAsia and AAX and closed down , then Firefly can also taking over the route of the AAX and AirAsia..

During the good time on 2018 and 2019, he should not be so greedy and paid a total of RM 1.30 special dividend to himself and other shareholders...

As a responsible CEO, he should approved normal dividend to shareholders and at least RM 2 to 3 billions as reserve to counter any unforeseen circumstances, so he has totally mismanaged AirAsia and AAX and he remains as the richest man in Asia, disregard whether AirAsia and AAX will shut down or not...

When something bad happens to AirAsia, he wants Finance Ministry to contribute money or better still all Malaysian should contribute money to bail out AirAsia and AAX and he did not even contribute his money to salvage his company and his only way to remains as CEO is to sack his employees....

Indeed, this is called transferring risk to others. After loan or fund being raised, even if the effort fails and AirAsia went bankrupt, he is still rich as his wealth is no disturbed at all. That is the fact. Rich remains rich and the poor remains poor.

I wonder if Malaysians even sat in a firefly flight or seen a firefly jet. If it can even be called a jet plane.
Firefly, Malaysia's National airline. Run by the old MAS management will safely land in a disaster within 3 months.
Incredulous

And please name me one airline in the world that didn't have to sack anyone during the pandemic? And still surviving that is.

MAS have been lost making for almost a decade relying on Govt and bailout after bailout even after being privatised leaving investors pissed off.
Now that the funds have run out, the rakyat is pissed off..
Plan B is to use firefly? Wasn't Firefly ran by a non bumi? So what now? Sack the non bumi that made it successful and replace them with who?
MAS made the biggest mistake in not being transparent right from the start and not retrenching to please themselves.

Realistically, mass air travel can only return to normal way into 2022. Any restructuring exercise need to ensure and focus on sufficient cash to be raised that can last the cash burn until end 2022 (not end 2020). Otherwise, it will be an exercise in futility.

WHO... only 3% vaccines by end 2021 for priority groups. Play on rumors:
.... data for 1b; authority said no issue. Do you think other countries will say the same?
.... G helps 1 b; already clarified is a no answer.
.... next? Nationwide industry restructuring is a must but everyone want to be the leader. Lol.

Why he doesn't care anymore about his so called loving employees... He is hypocrite and opportunists... Very sad...

Turbulence galore: A Singapore Airlines plane is seen parked at Changi Airport. The carrier is said to be facing trying times because of the pandemic and the fact that it has no domestic market to fall back on. — AFP

SINGAPORE: The global aviation industry will take at least two years to recover from the coronavirus pandemic and mass travel to return, Singapore’s Transport Minister Ong Ye Kung said, stressing the importance of developing a widely available and effective vaccine to help countries open their borders.

“When a vaccine is widely available around the world and people gain confidence to travel again and visit other countries, then we will have aviation back on its feet, almost fully, ” Ong said an interview with Bloomberg Television.

“How long that will that take, I can’t make a guess, I would say minimally a couple of years.”

Singapore has to “find ways to try to revive” the aviation sector, the minister said, adding that the city-state’s testing capacity is now around 30,000 a day and may rise to 40,000 by November and probably further after then.

A balance needs to be struck between travel and epidemic control, Ong said.

Asked about Singapore Airlines Ltd (SIA), which posted a record quarterly loss in the three months through June and is reducing its workforce by about 20%, Ong said the carrier faced a “dire situation” because of the pandemic and the fact it had no domestic market to fall back on.

Virus-related travel restrictions mean SIA, which raised S$11bil (US$8bil) largely through a rights issue earlier in the crisis, is flying a tiny fraction of its usual capacity.

Traffic figures for August showed the carrier’s passenger numbers were down 98.4% from a year earlier.

Whether SIA needs to raise more funds will largely depend on how successful any revival in travel is, Ong said.

“The more we can revive, the more cash they can generate, the less their need for recapitalisation.”

A regulatory filing in August showed the airline had used half of the S$8.8bil it had raised through share sales, highlighting that carriers keep incurring expenses even when planes are left idle.

The company is reviewing its fleet and operations.

The International Air Transport Association, (IATA) which represents some 290 airlines, has said it doesn’t see passenger traffic recovering until at least 2024.

A recent IATA survey of travelers found that 83% said they wouldn’t travel if it involved a 14-day quarantine period.

To open borders and encourage people to travel again, quarantine must be replaced by effective Covid-19 testing, Ong said.

“We have to gradually open up the borders, establish the key links that made us a hub.”

Ong said Singapore will need to review plans for a fifth terminal at Changi Airport. Construction of the terminal, originally planned to be completed in 2030, has been suspended for at least two years.

“The assumptions when we went into Terminal 5 have totally changed, ” Ong said.

“I don’t have a prediction or a crystal ball to say what will happen to Terminal 5 and what will happen to global aviation.”

Singapore has pledged about S$100bil in stimulus measures to fight the effects of the pandemic, including wage subsidies that will last until March. — Bloomberg
