So what if I started buying early @ just above $11 in Sep '20 & avged down @ $10.50 & $9.86 but didn't buy any more @ $8 in '22? A win is a win is a win! And more than 5 months of electric bills worth of dividends paid for waiting....EPF $ is gonna pay my capital gains winnings when I eventually take profit!

Someone using Tenaga to hold the CI to mask out the weakness of the overall market. Is it Epf? Kwap?

Question for all the experience player here from a newbie... My main aim to invest is to get better returns than FDs or unit trust... so far its been well. But for the first time in 3 yrs, it is February and I already made 10% return from the value of my investment - luck I guess. So should I just sell everything and put money on FD for the rest of the year or should I continue to commit in the market? What would you do?

It all boil down to your risk tolerance. From your msg u have low risk tolerance. Nothing wrong with this. Everybody is different

@furball, One lesson I've learned from the market and investing is that if the money you've invested is causing you sleepless nights, it's better to secure your gains and place them in a fixed deposit. Essentially, you should only invest money that you can afford to lose.

When deciding whether to sell your investments after a gain or stay invested, consider your risk tolerance, market conditions, and long-term goals. If you're risk-averse or you've met your goals, it might be wise to secure your gains. If you believe in the market's potential and have a longer-term perspective, you might choose to remain invested. Always consider diversification to manage risk.

Thank you for the guidance speakup and 1DERFUL. It seems I will need to do some self reflection of my risk appetite/tolerance. Will do that and decide on my action. 🖖

Should be able to break 11.4 resistance easily. Next resistance at 12 and taking a breather before going for 14. Trace back to 5 years. Go greedy or average out?

Tenaga all time high is around 17!
Even if adjust for dividend, all time high is 12!
So Tenaga still got room to up

DEEKAY, I plan to average out. Usual trend is to rise up to qtrly report and stabilise. 12 to 14 will take some time. Might switch some to other industry. TNB is pretty predictable

The gain before QR already more than past dividend, probably the coming dividend already factored in. No problem to cash out. However, Tenaga is for long term la. If still undecided, sell half keep half.

Hehe.....Kimsua. I need to see the qtrly announcement and the analysis by the IB first whether there's a re-rating on TP.

Based on the IPI Q4 report we can see a 3% increase in electricity production, which roughly translate to 200-400 million in revenue, not knowing the breakdown. Revenue near 14 billion and with coal ASP stabilized and the coal hedging lost in the last qtr behind us, will be great if we can see a 1bil net profit again this qtr. Not knowing its tax deferment, impairment , but cash flow will be much better with consistent receivables payment, Q1 onwards new ICPT calculations will continue to improve its cashflow and see an uptick in Revenue and cashflow, but profit margin will depends on its input cost.

Too expensive already. PE is approaching 25 and dividend yield is just around 4%. Better buy Maybank or RHB Bank.

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2024-02-28 09:59 | Report Abuse

RHB Bank earned 65.69 sen a share last year and would be paying a final dividend amounting to 25 sen a share, in addition to an interim dividend of 15 sen a share. It now trades at around RM5.60 a share, about half of Tenaga.

Why run so early ? RHB ? OK , will decide later after TNB ex-date .. usually TNB ex in March. RHB ? April???

Posted by GreatDreamer > 2024-02-28 10:34 | Report Abuse

No rush to sell. Investors still like Tnb 2023 figure eg Sales grow 5.3%, electricity demand grow 3.8%

Fuel margin lost of 620 million. The person that hedge this should be sacked, hedge for 1 whole year. This is the only major mistake, earnings and ICPT is very predictable. Even the analyst did not see this coming 6 months of fuel hedging write down. 1 billion national revenue gone mainly to Indonesia for someone's prediction mistake
