And you missed the point completely. The question isn't whether Malaysian scandals are more or less than other bourses. The question is whether what stock god does constitute a criminal offense.
2018-02-19 16:16 | Report Abuse
Bursa has it's fair share of scandals no? On the contrary, the purpose of a pump and dump operation is precisely to create volume for low capitalised stocks. If a market it deep and the stock is well capitalised, like Apple for example, it would take a fortune to manipulate the share price. Bluemont, Asiasons and LionGold are all penny stocks before they are manipulated to high heavens, it is only possible because these stocks have limited liquidity.

arv18, yes and no. Pump and dump operation is illegal anywhere in the world. That's why John Soh is now being prosecuted for the collapse of Asiasons, Blumont and LionGold. It's not about accusing others for their own foolishness, it is about whether stock god's modus operandi is legal or illegal. If it's just a simple caveat emptor, John Soh would be sitting in a mansion sipping long island ice tea instead of rotting in a jail with bail rejected even before his case goes to court.

I absolutely agree with you stocknanny. That's why I propose building a temple in Jelapang dedicated to the almighty stock god kyy. Since stock god rained gold on you, why don't we go 50-50 on the cost of the temple. In the future, devout followers of the god above all gods can worship the almighty together. And stock god will excrete gold on all of us faithfuls.

Yes please, anything that comes out of stock god's orifices, whether it's his anus, mouth, ear holes, nose, must be gold. Please rain shit on me, almighty kyy the god above all gods.

Coffee and curry puff treat only? That's not enuf to cover the cost of my altar leh. My kyy altar is made of gold. Stock god must be according due recognition for his wisdom and bravery.

And KC, how dare you insult the stock god. May lighting strike your head and cause you great loss on your portfolio from your intransigent. The stock god cannot be insulted, the almighty kyy is sacred.

From this day onwards, I will put an altar in my living room with the face of kyy and worship the stock god. I suggests everyone else do it also, and I'm sure stocknanny already has a kyy altar taking up half his living room. I will pray 5 times a day to kyy, everyone who does so will get filthy rich. Next, I'm going to petition the country to make kyy's birthday a national public holiday, coz a god like him must receive proper recognition for his wisdom and bravery. Finally, I will petition the Chinese community to add kyy as the 13th zodiac sign. People born in the year of kyy will never starve, everything they buy will sure up. Couples will have sex like desperate bunnies to try to get their kyy babies so gold will fall from heaven from the almighty stock god.

The problem with Mr Golden Rule is he doesn't really talk about risks. He will say the banks in China has done their due diligence but he doesn't tell you that the same Banks allow the Sri Lankan Hambantota port to fail so as to further indebt the country to China, allowing China to assert more influence over the country. Mr Golden Rule will only sell you a beautiful picture because it is in his interest to pump his stocks sky high, which offers him the possibility of dumping his stake to people chasing the tooth fairy.

Well, yes and no. Petron's refinery is designed to process sweet and light crude. By definition their raw material has low sulphur content. While I'm not privy to exactly how much sulphur is in their fuel oil, it should be low because the raw material is sweet.

I have no issues with uncle sharing his knowledge or whatever he wants to talk about. But I do have issues with pump and dump operation. To my knowledge, that’s market manipulation and it’s illegal in Malaysia or anywhere else in the world. So the more uncle talk and boast and leak how he operates, the more evidence the authorities have in nailing his nuts to the wall when and if they close in on him. His loud proclamation of wealth has already landed him kopi sessions with the tax man. Maybe the next visit will be the criminal investigation department. Now don’t go and complain how he is victimised becoz he’s a pakatan supporter when he himself left a nice paper trail for criminal prosecution. Good luck uncle, there’s a reason why God gave us only 1 mouth and that’s to talk less.

Mark Twain? Man kc you never fail to impress. Having said that, whatever his intentions are, he should stop posting in public because there's sufficient evidence to convict him of running a pump and dump operation. But of coz, people who are enlightened already know that's his true intentions anyway. Why else would a person swears off i3 and then happily come back, if not bcoz i3 is the perfect platform to do his pumping.

Very detailed article, thank you. But I can tell you are not from manufacturing. With regards to your statement: "D&O的生产技术高到可以达到一百万个产品内完全零失误。", manufacturing processes are not gauge on how many good pieces without failure, but how many failure per how many pieces. A six sigma process produces at most at most 3.4 failure per million pieces. The statement a million pieces without failure doesn't really indicate how good their process is. Is it 1 failure per 10m pieces? Or 1 failure per 100m pieces? Or 1 failure per 1 billion pieces? That's how manufacturing process are measured.

20% COMCORP
With a proposed special dividend of 45 cents for the disposal of their primary EMS business, Comcorp is valued at about 26 cents for their remaining business. Is the remaining business worth that much? The remaining business is not yet profitable, but I am optimistic that growth prospect is solid.
The company is focusing on green technology, specifically their waste to energy solution for organic wastes. There are a few unique features of their solution:
a) It is modular, therefore easily scaled and constructed so that even smaller quantity wastes and remote sites is economically justifiable
b) It is carbon neutral. Unlike typical waste to energy plant that generates methane and produces CO2 as methane is burned, Comcorp’s solution produces H2 and produces water.
2018 should see Comcorp winning projects based on these 2 features. Management has indicated it is in discussion for 2 projects in Vietnam and should conclude the contract in 3 months’ time.
20% SOP
CPO price is very bearish, and it is probably a good time to buy beaten down plantation stock at the current trough. In terms of value, growth prospect and size, SOP stands out. It has 63.5% of trees classified as young and immature, trades at ttm PE of 10 (before CPO price tanked), and relatively big with 87,744 hectares of land. Companies with younger trees are small, ex Innoprise 11,905 hectares or expensive, ex TSH ttm PE is 33.
20% FAVCO
To ride on the O&G recovery, I choose industry laggard Favco. Cash rich, generous dividend, and should oil tank again, it is not solely dependent on O&G for contracts.
10% LYSAGHT
10% PRESTAR
Most of the numerous highway project should be at the middle to late stage, except DASH. Others are Pan Borneo Highway, West Coast Expressway and EKVE. PRESTAR and LYSAGHT should benefit. PRESTAR trades at a core PE ttm of 7.5. Latest quarter is a bit soft, but net gearing dropped from 0.7 to 0.5. LYSAGHT is cash rich and trades at PE ttm of 8.2.
10% ORNA
10% PPHB
Since China clamped down on the importation of waste paper in mid 2017, waste paper price outside China declined. Surprisingly, that has not helped ORNA and PPHB’s bottom line. I hypothesize that there’s a time lag and bottom line should improve in 2018. Anyway, e-commerce is growing strong and demand for packaging should remain elevated even if cheap raw material doesn’t materialize. ORNA trades at PE ttm of 8 with net gearing of 0.34. PPHB trades at PE ttm of 7, is marginally net cash, but doesn’t give dividends.

I don't understand why people keep saying HY's tax allowance will be exhausted in 2018. At as 31/12/16, HY has tax losses carried forward and unabsorbed reinvestment allowance of 763m. In 2017 excluding q4, they have made a total of 725m in net profit. Even at 24% corporate tax rate, the tax is only 174m and they should still have 588m of tax credits in the worst case. The earliest the tax credit will be exhausted is 2019 or 2020, not 2018.

Late payment does not boost profit. Profit is booked when the goods r shipped and the profit booked as receivables. If the payment is not received after 3 months, it is impaired. Late payment does not boost profit bcoz profit is booked when the goods r shipped, not when payment is received.

How important is import substitution on local steel players? I don't have the figures for long steel, but let's use flat steel as a reference. In 2014, Malaysia consumed 5.7m tons of flat steel products of which 3.5m tons is imported. That's a whopping 61% of imports that can be substituted by local production. So sure there will be pull back in property, no doubt. But judging from the severity of steel dumping in the past, demand should be reasonably resilient even if we are to depend on import substitution only.

Uncle Koon is right that the property slowdown will affect demand, but unfortunately he didn't factor in import substitution as a result of the rally in rebar price in China, as well as the import tariff, nor did he factor in increased demand from public infrastructure project, both of which will drive demand. Both of these positive factors should more than compensate for the slowdown in property, in my opinion.

Thanks for the article. Well, Parkson is still bleeding, no doubt. On the positive side, the same store sales growth for China is positive for the latest quarter, as well as for 9M2017. Although in the low single digit, at least it's not red anymore.

If PPHB is so good, why did they experience margin compression in Q1 and Q2? And don't forget plastic materials like styrofoam can substitute paper packaging. If the cost of plastic solution is cheaper than paper solution, then the ability of all paper players to pass-through cost will be impacted. So elastic or not, depends largely on the cost of substitute as well.

A small company making 1+m a quarter, producing machines that typical Penang automation house can also make, commanding PE 23? You gotta be shitting me. Can their machines do something special other's cannot? Can they do 3d X-ray imaging like Vitrox' machines? Can they do multi-test systems like AEM machines? If there's nothing special about what they make, then PE 23 is stretched beyond reasonable.

And why does Sendai has such huge receivables and debt? Maybe the explanation lies with their Middle East customers. Since crude oil price collapsed, their customers are now pretty cash strapped. Saudi has been running double digit deficits. Where got money to pay? Chances are, they will drag payment as long as possible. Look, if they can't even pay the wages of their own civil servants, where does Sendai rank as an overseas contractor?

Kyy is absent from steel boom because he told everyone to avoid steel since property is slowing. So super investor also get it wrong sometimes. He got it wrong this time bcoz he didn't account for import substitution as well as the roll out of mega projects. Quite obviously, with Chinese steel price higher than domestic price, the flooding of cheap Chinese steel has stopped completely. Finally, generally, raising funds from placement is generally regarded as more expensive way to raise money than bank borrowing. Kc chong is spot on with the numbers. Don't follow old man blindly, if u have u would have missed out on the steel rally completely.

Lately, if you have noticed, Vietnam is the only one left that is still belligerent against China. Most of the ASEAN countries, even Philippines who took China to court over the encroachment of territory has already relented and made peace with the taiko. Pretty much everyone in ASEAN has given up trying to fight China and accepted China as the taiko, everyone except Vietnam. Those who are exuberant about the IPP project may not have priced in political risk should the conflict come to a head with Jaks stuck in between.

Well I'm not going to waste time debating about share manipulation. Kyy has a bulls eye marked behind his head, and may soon be charged for tax evasion. Since the stock god loves to proclaim to the world the greatness of his wisdom, he's most welcomed to leave ample evidence for prosecution, should the authorities sees it fit to nail his balls to the wall. And yes I'm a 10 year old wanker sitting in front of my pc worshipping the almighty stock god.
