That's an apt analogy probability. He's just here to hog bandwidth.

Stocknanny, you want to talk about speculation, check out my half year record:
1) Alliance Mineral Assets, entered 11 cents, currently 32.5 cents
2) GSS Energy, entered 9.3 cents, currently 16.8 cents.
3) AEM, entered 56 cents, currently 2.46 dollars.
Only difference between you and me, you talk and talk like it's some special power only you possess, to me it's just common sense and risk management. It's no big deal man. It's nothing special. It doesn't warrant banging on it like as if the whole world needs to know you got special skill.

I don't know why is it such a big deal to promote the Golden rule, or x factor, or dynamic investing. I just call all of these common sense and risk management. It's no big deal, anyone with an iota of brain cell would have figured it out. I can't believe there r ppl talking about it day in day out like they r from Stone age and just discovered fire.

Good summary KC, is Stocknanny going to flame you again? See his name oso sian, talk a lot but contributed nothing.

There's even a purported trading champion who says he dislikes holding a company through the release of financial report. He even sells subscriptions. For ppl like him who disregard financial analysis, I hope some day they meet the ultimate pump and dump master John Soh. Then only they will learn their lesson.

Just a note Icon. Tanker rates are cheap. You can get a feel of it by reading MISC's commentary. So, if rates are cheap, Nylex is actually better off leasing than buying.

Thanks for the writeup Icon. My money is on Luxchem for its lower PE, high div yield, higher ROE and net cash. Both are operating in similar industries, but Nylex comes with the OTB premium hahaha.
Stocknanny, not going to waste time talking, I'll let those who love to talk talk. But I'll let SGX listed AEM do the talking. As for you, I hope someone comes out with an app to block your comments coz you junk up the entire thread.

Why is it that half of the comments are from stocknanny? Does he really like to talk so much?

Wow, stocknanny, still talking. You sure like to talk.

I own Agritrade Resources 1131. Since the thermal coal rally last year, coal price (Newcastle grade) has sustained above USD80/ton. This will likely result in a huge earning boost to 1131, especially since they are ramping up their newly acquired Merge Mining. Unlike it's Indonesian peers Geo Energy and GEAR who owns mid-range coal, Merge own high calorific value coal, and will likely command premium margin.

I totally agree. Editor is damn lazy to dig through the non recurring items. One really poor piece of propaganda from a usually well balanced news outlet. Editor might have too much boozing the night b4

I suggest going pro with 7 figure. Your friend has only 5 figure. What will happen when he has so little is that he will be taking a lot of risks, and sooner or later he will step on a mine and lose everything. Think about it, if he tries to hit 4k per month on a 30k capital, that's a eye-popping 160% return. I do not know a single person on this planet who can do that consistently.

WealthWizard, I got the info from RHB report on Japfa Cornfeed, a giant agri player in Indonesia. As a result of the factors I wrote above, the analyst downgraded the company from buy to hold, citing lack of catalyst.

Thanks for the article, may I point out that Indonesia has just recently imposed fixed price for day-old-chick and broiler chicken? As a result, their Indonesia venture will probably not be as profitable as once thought. Also FY4Q16 consists of a RM7m gain on revaluation of property. Stripping that out, core PER is more than 10, with a net gearing of around 0.5, it isn't exactly cheap given the growth is probably around 10% a year. Also, Indon has banned corn imports, which will likely drive up feed price.

Uncle Koon forgot the lessons of Mudajaya so easily. Anyone remembers? Here's 2:
1) When the Indian IPP was ongoing, Mudajaya made so much money they were awarded best construction company 3 years in a row. That didn't save them from the massive losses that came later. Lesson is: the meat of an IPP is not in the construction, it is in the concession.
2) The same thing was said about the Indian power plant, the there's no way the Indian gomen will jeopardise the project because the financiers are Indian banks. In Jaks case, the fiananciers are not even Vietnamese.
Good luck Uncle Koon on your massive bet. Hope you bought a gem rather than a dud. Anyway, if the project is so lucrative, why aren't insiders buying the shares like crazy?

"Personally, I do not like holding stocks into earnings. I have also warned many of my readers to 'beware of earnings' and 'the final investment decision is always yours'. Price action and sentiment of stocks change each day, and I dont post a long article here everyday to state those changes. Intelligent investors themself, would know of these changes."
For the reason above, perhaps you should stop calling yourself an investor and instead call yourself a trader. I think it's a huge abuse to call yourself an investor if you have no care for earnings.

I called Thong Guan's office today. There is no change in shareholding and the Ang brothers did not dispose their 40% stake in Thong Guan. The cessation of substantial shareholder came about because of the new Companies Act stating that disclosure is unnecessary for indirect deemed interest below 20% (was 15%). So relax, there's no change in shareholding.

Thank you for the explanation. It does seem like KimHin didn't overpay for Outset. But I can't get over them overpaying for Johnson Tiles. That's a very expensive acquisition for a brand (non-tangible) and as you can see it contributes close to nothing to their bottom line.

I'm taking a closer look at Masteel's report. The unrealized forex loss of 4,622 is most likely the same item as other expenses 4,622. Since it is not part of revenue and cost of sales, it is definitely non-recurring.

I think it's appropriate, the material cost should already include the cost in usd. Therefore, I deem the forex losses as non recurring

Thanks for the article Icon. Just a note, SAM's profit will not jump suddenly because they have completed the new factory. That is because the delivery of the engine casing is catered to the production schedule of the customer. There's no point making hundreds of engine casing when your customer is making only tens of aircraft per year. The contract for engine casing are multi decade contracts for specific no of deliveries per year, and there's no point delivering more than what the customer needs. In short, SAM needs to secure new parts to boost it's profit. With the additional capacity, yes things are looking up indeed that they can secure more parts. Their profit may increase somewhat, but won't suddenly see a massive jump just because they have completed the new factory. Stockmanny, you need to go back in history and understand how LKT became SAM. LKT was initially a precision engineering and semicon equipment manufacturer before its present owner bought it over and transform it into an aircraft parts manufacturer. That's why it is listed in Malaysia, because LKT was listed in Malaysia.

The beauty of Favco is that it allows one to enjoy the recovery in the O&G sector, without being fully exposed to the risk because a significant portion of their order book is from the construction company.

I'm going to take the rosy forecast on child birth with a big bucket of salt. B4 China implemented the 2 child policy, it was first relaxed for couples where both parents are single. The result is abysmal. The high cost of living, poor paediatric support and dwindling women of child bearing age discourages many of those who r eligible to have a second one. Now that the 2 child policy is fully implemented with no restriction, of coz child birth will go up. But my guess is, not as much as what gomen officials would like to see.

True true, what you say is true. It's OK to buy great business even if it's trading at a high PE. For me, I see that as higher risk because I have to assume that the company can continue to grow at the past growth rate. But if I buy a company with low PE, I only need to assume it can sustain its current result. Since I can't see the future, the former does carry higher risks than the latter, in my opinion.

Probability, actually western fast food is actually not doing well in China. Yum Brands is spinning off its Chinese arm to local investors. Growth for western fast food has been stagnant as consumer became more health conscious coupled with intense competition from home grown brands. Interesting comment from u about plantation. Whoever who can automate fruit harvesting will make a fortune, but the fact that it is still not mechanised shows the difficulty of doing so.

HLIB wrote that the deal is done at oil price of $37, but a check on the valuation of the oil field shows that an assumption of $53 is used for year 2017, and increases 2% every year thereafter.
