Dear otb, I'm one of your subscriber last year. You mentioned that Hohup was one of your 2016 stock pick but how come it is not under the list ? Is Hohup not doing well ? Why you didn't tell us to cut loss when you give up Hohup ? Thx
My opinion, 3 Loser not mean last 3 from bottom. We can consider whoever pick make -ve return as loser? Then we choose the top 3 that -ve in return as 'winner' OTB prize?
Invest88 , what you said made a lot of sense, first time I came across a contest where the winner is not the best of the lot but the worst. OTB objective to reward the loser is commendable cos his sponsored prize may be useful to loser than to those who are good at stock pickings. Maybe winners should be rewarded in other ways , just my humble view.
Basically boil down to the rules and regulations. In the game of badminton, some organizers do organize a loser plate ie all first round of losers will put into a draw and fight it out again among themselves. Champion of this first round losers do win prizes as well. Of course the prize will not be as grand of par with the real champion/runners of the main tournament.
So the huge number in this year participation is due to many try purposely to lose than win? Sound logical also.

OTB - thanks for your kind understanding and accepting my view on awarding the prizes to the "real" winners. The criteria to determine the top 3 in this category is simple, clear and straightforward - just based on the highest returns at the close of trading on 31st December 2016 as what we did last year.
As to how to award the prizes in the losers category I rather not get involved as I reckon it can only bring more "harm" than good. Just my thoughts.
I noticed that I had made a serious mistake in my selection, I wish to swap Fibon with Tecguan. I prefer Tecguan than Fibon. Please help and allow me to make this change.
(1) The winner is the one who get the #1 on the contest. We pick the stock and hope to make money. The winner will be reward by its investment return and no prize given (in fact, there is no prize on this contest until OTB does us a favor & sponsor it - thanks OTB) (2) I suggest OTB to help the one loss $ but not the one make $. The one make $ should have $ to pay OTB if he want OTB research. OTB is charging less than 1k, it is less than 1% from a 100k portfolio. (3) OTB research to the loser is not a reward but is to help them to make better investment decision.
@OTB, thanks for 3 more prize....
@inwest88, still have 1 more year... we can make the decision when times come by.... feel free to think how it goes...

Invest88...u hv my full support...instead of giving d prizes to d losers why not give it to d winners of those in d self managed portfolio...such a good response from them.
richard88 U can propose to OTB and KYY, c they laugh at u or not. If pick loser, i choose XOX, CSL, Xingquan, KSTAR, Xidelang. U want sponsor me award? kakaka 03/01/2016 14:24
Support fully to inwest88. A competition is to compete to win. Winner justified to be rewarded. Loser shall learn from the hardway or else competition is meaningless.
That's a smart statement "I will sponsor 3 prizes for 3 winners.
I PERSONALLY will give a price to the loser according to Mr Tan's pick. The reason for this prize is to help this loser to improve his/her performance." Great idea and a noble one. Fully support OTB.
hi, may someone kind to clarify is that true? that the self managed portfolio winners are not entitled to prizes?

For the objective of educating 'losers who had sincerely tried to win' (note: there is a difference between these with those who intentionally tried to lose)..by rewarding them a free subscription:
I suggest... the next 3 losers who are behind OTB. This should solve the sincerity dilemma. Perhaps Inwest88 might agree on this.
Reward for top 3 winners should be something way better.
Ya laa..I can empathize with inwest88...we should just make it simple: (1) winners get the price (2) and there should be a limit to the number of participants
too many 'optimus like' participants already...I think we should award the person who is doing all the computations the most!
Inwest88, you have done a great jobs, especially your analysis. If we can have a general view such as what stocks contestant picks, what sector etc, it is good.anyway I hope to see you in future here also, your help in here is unmatch
I do hope you can contribute in other ways really...your thoughts and contributions for 2016.I am sure you will miss the actions if you stay out of the game...it is in your blood really....there is no denying that. With a hefty number of participants in the self managed category I will not be surprised a number of pink swans will emerge from this block. Let the show begins.
