Despite all the wards you see in the news. Historians has stated that we live in the most peaceful period (i.e. post-WW2) in history. China, Russia, and US are all contributed to this peace. But they also caused all the chaos. China/US invaded Vietnam, fought in the Korean war. Russia/US caused war in the middle east, etc. China causing lots of trouble in south china sea, etc.

China will be largest in nominal and PPP soon. But GDP per capita still 5 times less than Americans. No hope to catch up.

Taiwan not even recognized as a country by the UN but already considered developed high income country. But China still developing and upper-middle income only. Gdp per capita is only half that of Taiwan. The chinese made a mistake siding with the CCP istead of the KMT.
