@linges you to start queuing your orders now if you plan to buy at 9.50 as by the time it breaks thru 9.55 no more chance as big boys queue up way way before hand. I always do this queuing ip early, that's how I manage to pick up some good stocks at very low price e.g. MAHB at 5.50, YTLP at 0.67, etc. Some calculated luck too as if you dabble in stocks long enough you know the big boys how they will trick the anchovies. I have paid my share of fees from learning it the hard way. That's why I would rather stop day trading to make small gains but rather buy and keep.. less stress la.. planning to build up my stock and EPF portfolio and hopefully give me a double digit pension when I am sixty

@jeffchan1901 congrates on MAHB and YTLP.
yeah RM9.50 would be strong support to break. Even if foreign fund starts to dump Tiger, local institutions will absorb first, like what happen to Tenaga yesterday.

In middle east conflict, both countries are very cautious in their next plan of action. Thus, may de-escalate soon.

@linges not too sure. US seems a likely beneficiary in this war as well. Makes the world reserve currency very much in demand and yes continue to support the petro Dollar. Until and unless, BRICS trading using local currencies is a confirmed and permanent trading option for the world outside the influences of US, the US would still want to continue the war as long as possible resulting in their increase spending and boosting their GDP in the process and delaying a possible recession. so far only China, Russia and India started trading in local currencies. I believe Malaysia and Singapore is interested as well but no official mention or stance in this matter. Look at Ukraine, more than a year and US seems to wash their hands off the issue. EU fighting among themselves to see who will fund the ongoing war. the only winner? Gold

Looking at the sell down from 10.30am and the huge volume, this is real sell off and not a fake bear. l would hasten to add, that if anyone wants to buy more then park lower price as it will continue to fall. US market will open ard 3pm-4pm, that will be another round of sell off by foreign funds. IMO dont make the mistake of being greedy and catch the falling knife. Be patient Tiger brothers.

@jeffchan1901…Yesterday US market was mixed with more reds. Today pre-market very small greens.

Yes, Tiger sell-off not obvious yet, compared to sotong and tenaga, which starter yesterday and continuing today.

I prefer to see how strong is RM9.50 support.

How far local institutions could absorb? Very interesting, lets wait for closing today.
If green local fund menang, if red foreign fund menang.

Posted by LadyRepins > 2024-04-17 19:52 | Report Abuse

Hard luck everyone! Tiger survives 9.50 support for today. It's a pretty deep trough to next level, I spy and parking some ammo for 9.10/9.20 and even lower to 8.90 if the sellers are determined.

Tiger is in many local institution wallet, they will sapu more than sellers can dish out...

why Bursa companies need 2-months to announce financial statement, while most of other countries need only less than a month?
Anyone know the reason.

The risk of war between Iran and Israel has never been this high before. Dow Futures are down about 450 points and Nikkei 225 is down over 1,300 points. South Korea and Taiwan are down over 3%. I suppose many investors are now seeking refuge in Maybank.

Yes RHB "looks" very attractive....but it has look so for the past 1 to 2 years ....and it remains looking so.....haha
I am also quite tempted by its looks.....but till now it's not moving yet :p

@skybursa I though every one waiting for 10.00.why dumped all now?

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2024-04-20 21:45 | Report Abuse

I also sold some of my Maybank holdings. At this time of uncertainty in the Middle East, a bird in hand is worth several in the bush. Also, high interest rates in the US may stay much longer than expected.

After ex date, it traded in a narrow range of 9.52 to 9.75.
At 9.70 on Friday, it was near recent high, so am not surprised many took profits....esp during current weak market.
I am looking to slowly add starting around 9.50 level..
....short term might have pain, but confident long term gain :)

stkoay

At 9.70, plus recent dividend it's above 10 ringgit.
I am also tempted to take profits....
....but for retirement fund, if you sell then where do you park?
....and for retirement fund, current price does not matter, what matters is the dividend yield and the forward fundamental of the company.....so no sell....will bargain at lower price :)

@stkoay Yeh same here. Not gonna sell even if hit rm10. As long as DY is above 6% - 6.5% I will continue to add till my threshold meets the income tax threshold for tax free income. Meanwhile my orders parked till Mid May at 9.50

Dont listen to predictions of WWIII. If they are so good in predictions, they would have made tons of $$$$ by now, and having no worries of what tomorrow will be.
