TM,Unifi high-speed broadband business growth rate returned to normal levels, analysts optimistic about the next wave of growth will be driven from the enterprise technology services business.
Currently, the through VADS company development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and business process outsourcing market, business covers video conferencing, database, server and storage, cloud computing.
2011 financial year, VADS contributed RM 1.9 billion turnover and a profit of 300 million $ 100 million ringgit, accounting for 21% and 26% of the turnover and profitability of the Telekom Malaysia.

Momentum would pick up for the second half of this year as the company focuses more on investing in its infrastructure services and in its people. The Telco has allocated RM2.6billion capital expenditure this year, of which RM800million has been spent.

Sector Update

2QCY12 results were all within expectations. Despite more aggressive competition from Maxis, DiGi and Celcom produced a fairly good set of 2Q results, while Axiata had a solid 2Q.
Non-voice contributions took a breather in 2Q, but we note that 1Q non-voice revenue was boosted by rather high device sales of iPhone 4S.
A positive takeaway from 2Q is that industry voice revenue has held up fairly well. Maxis and Celcom saw just a marginal sequential decline in voice revenue of 0.7% and 0.4% respectively.
Despite intensifying competitive behaviour, we believe earnings growth momentum for the sector remains intact. The recent partnership between Maxis and Astro suggests more competition for retail fibre subscribers, but we still like TM as the owner of the HSBB infrastructure (thus benefitting from wholesale revenue). Maintain Overweight on sector.

TM had on 21 September been served with a Writ of
Summons and Statement of Claim in respect of a suit
filed by One Visa Sdn Bhd (“OVSB”) in the Kuala
Lumpur High Court.
 OVSB seeks the following key reliefs against TM 1) a
declaration that TM is a trespasser on five pieces of
land belonging to OVSB in Pekan Ulu Temiang,
Negeri Sembilan, by the supply of telecommunication
services to the illegal occupiers (“squatters’) on the
land and is a nuisance to the plaintiff; ) special
damages amounting to RM23.1m being the total
rental value of the land; 3) special damages
amounting to RM198.1m being loss of opportunity
and/or loss of profit by reason of the continued
wrongful occupation of the squatters and 4) Quit rent
and land assessment for the 5 pieces of land for the
year 2012 amounting to a total of RM284.0k.

TM should counter sue One Visa for allowing squatters to stay on their land and not taking any preventive measure to stop these squatters from applying for phones.

TM may rebound after finding support at RM6.00. A purchase can be made if it closes above RM6.07, with a close below RM5.97 as a stop-loss. The price target is RM6.80, should the recent high of RM6.30 be broken. Failure to stay above RM6.00 could see the stock lower with further supports at RM5.80 and RM5.65.
