Castlelake deal has just been completed. So AirAsia group just got about Rm3,000,000,000.00 cash inflow into the company.

According to previous news report, Tony Fernandez has publicly spoken the proceeds from the Castlelake deal will be “special dividend out”.

Analysts expect it to be rm0.50 per share.

Airasia has a dividend payout ratio of 20% net operating profit. In fact it means net profit. In order to make interim dividend of 12c, AirAsia needs to make profit of about 2 billion in Q2, which is about 20 times more than the preceding quarter (correct me if I am wrong).

Unless the price shoot up to rm2.90 by this month or so, dividend of rm0.90 is as good as putting money from your left to your right pocket. Many companies nowadays declare dividends but the price never reach back to the ex dividend price. That is a rip off. As a matter of fact, current AA price still far below ex. It was almost rm0.30 drop from ex date price but recover some foot. Having a huge rm1.00 to climb, it probably takes months or perhaps never if the selling volume keep strong.

Both views are correct..

Let's put it this way..

As an investor, I have managed to double up my holding of AA shares. Earlier AA Shares was more expensive.. Now it's cheaper..

As a traders, many would have profited from the recent cycle..

As a shareholders many have benefited by collecting 0.90 + hopefully 0.12 + special SD for the latest announcement.

So really it's a win win for everyone..

As for me, I'm not in a hurry to cash in.. Willing to wait for the shares to go up again

I invested in AirAsia partly because of the brand value...so it is sad to see there are serious flaws there on customer complaints...who doesn't have flaws...what is important is management take speedy corrective actions to address them....

AA is world class but the Malaysian authorities and local employees who happen to be the majority race constantly sabotage to smear it. It's better TF close down Malaysia chapter and move to nearby Asean countries like Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand etc. No need to feed parasites and face "religious or moral" issues.

@shrobin regarding the article, it’s just a rant from an “entitled” passenger. If want first class service then don’t fly budget airline la. It’s called budget airline for a reason. You want additional services you pay for it. And people still pay because after adding all up it’s still cheaper than say, flying SIA. Airasia can’t make everyone happy, but as long as it makes the masses happy, to me it’s a great business.

Agree...AirAsia is still a great business! Can't say that for AAX though! I myself prefer a more comfortable flight for long distant and of understand i need to pay more for it! For less than 2 hours flight i still go for AirAsia!

I have invested in AirAsia and not AAX base on my own earlier research. And i guess i was right on the choice. AAX may need to tweak the business model a bit so that long distant flight need to be more comfortable but price adjusted accordingly!
