Another scenario>> Airasia currents hedges loses USD150M (eq. RM600M) due to low oil price, however, this low oil price not only damages the costs side, but to stir people to travel they will have to lower ticket charge (low revenue). Combined both profitability will drop in the coming months. Oil price is not expected to increase in price in short time due to excess supply>demand. Reports came out yesterday oil is still piling up. Next year, when all recovers, oil price goes up. Airasia have to continue charging low>mid price to boost the consumer confidence. Next year profit also likely to drop. (unedited version but that's the gist)

NOT ALL DOOM AND GLOOMY HOWEVER> Virus is expected to subside, economy picks up in 2H2020. This coupled with vaccines/effective treatment, humans always goes back to who we are (eg post 9/11, MH370), therefore AA IS BACK IN THE GAME. Government to bail out AA (giving loan), AA minimise losses by bankrupting some of its subsidiary and contain losses to those subsi.

theTRuthll, kindly look over at $DAL, $AAL, etc over at USA, stronger balance sheet, stronger margin, stronger management, share price and PE lower. Why not invest in those companies? My suggestions to you, don't be so narrow minded.

airasia isnt some cheap company, airasia had tremendous amount of good will, the brandname,the years of experiences, and the experty they have. people just take advantage pf the virus.

If you really want to bet on airline industry, you may look into SAM. If NYSE:BA remains good, SAM should be a good bet (steady dividend, earnings, and protected from margin compression pressure)

Even free also no use..
Airlines business not only affected during MCO..
The fear of travelling will be there for months or even years after the dust is settled..unless there's a cure or vaccine..
From now on..no more everyone can fly..it'll be everyone afraid to fly..

Consumer discretionary spending is always slowest to pick up when there's economic downturn. AA focuses on low-budeget, ie B40 and M40 which is the most badly hurt during this downturn. If you think Q1 can recover, you're joking. Failed hedging and Overhead alone can kill them.

If there's one takeaway from all these, is we need airplanes not airlines. Capitalism should punish companies like AA during economic downturn as they are not prepared, but fred not AA will likely be helped by government. and we shout CAPITALISM while bailing these rubbish companies using taxpayers money

I am planning to buy but just waiting for the right time. There is a possibility to go up or down short term so no point arguing unless you are investing for long term which will depend on the news and the covid issue. Nobody really knows where the market will go.

AA has been down due to Tony's issue and the covid outbreak. Probably will only go lower if it breaks previous support at 0.515 which is unlikely. You can wait and buy at previous support if you are worried and cut loss based on your own risk appetite. If AA gets their loan they will be able to go through this covid and the share will fly up once this all ends. Probably will buy at 0.605. Not much to lose and more percentage to gain.
