Already announced today Airasia will borrow another RM1.5billion and RM1billion rights issue by year end.Airasia post rights issue total shares will double and EPS and NTA will reduce 50%.

What was mentioned up to RM 1.5 b from bank loans and another RM 1 b from investors not shareholders. It implies that the current shareholders will not be burdened with a rights issue.

BEIJING, Sept 8 — China has put its homegrown coronavirus vaccines on display for the first time, as the country where the contagion was discovered looks to shape the narrative surrounding the pandemic.

A Sinovac representative told AFP his firm has already “completed the construction of a vaccine factory” able to produce 300 million doses a year.

China's nationalistic tabloid Global Times reported last month that “the price of the vaccines will not be high.”

Every two doses should cost below 1,000 yuan (RM606), the report said, citing Sinopharm's chairman, who told media he has already been injected with one of the candidate vaccines.

China's official Xinhua news agency reported yesterday that another vaccine candidate, developed by Chinese military scientists, can deal with mutations in the coronavirus.

Agree with the comments above, i think likelihood of a RI is low.

If AA wants to raise RM1b from equity funds, it can either choose to do so (1) via private placement to investors (PP); (2) via RI; or (3) a mix of both.

-> Assuming it is (1), no RI involved. Recall that resolution (5) of the upcoming AGM is to allow AA to issue additional shares such that the additional shares issued do not exceed 20% of the enlarged share capital. Based on current number outstanding shares (3,342,000,000), that means AA can issue additional shares amounting up to 25% of that figure for a PP.

-> If (2), likelihood of AA doing a RI without being accompanied by a PP doesn't sound feasible, as AA needs to boost confidence before doing a RI to at least move the price up before a RI.

-> Assuming it is (3) and on the basis that PP and RI is shared 50/50, that means a RI will be to raise RM500m only instead of the full RM1b. That wouldn't have as big an impact on the shares as have been hyped. Assuming rights price is as high as RM0.60, RI will be on a 1 for 4 basis to raise that RM500m, which doesn't add as many outstanding shares as initially thought.

Rights issue is a certainty. It is just a matter of timing and amount to be raised. For AA, only Survival is Key. We need AA to survive with fund raising or White Knight (certainly not via Government) ASAP as travelling will still be a necessity Post-Covid in 2021/2022 and beyond.

RI is one of the rescues plan for AA and part of the solution to troubled AA . Can't do without this ! Anyway after the vaccine appear in a couple of months times, I have a strong believe that the sky will be clear for AA.
