Future gojek of malaysia in the making. AirAsia super app will dominate grab and food panda. Looking forward to post covid scenario. tp wont be RM 3. It will be RM 6 or 9

Sweetchocalates that is some delusional thinking, Gojek, Grab and Food Panda are backed by billions in venture capital, they can easily do another funding round to get more money. AA need to borrow money just to survive, increasing the debt burden of the company.

@newbie1111 Hahaha, sifu knows the weight also but anyway just for info caam has already given approval for some time mow for both AA and AAX to carry cargo on Pax seat.

newbie1111 Airlines, by nature, are built on huge debt. When the economy goes back to normal, aa can easily increase its return on capital because cost of debt in the long term is lower than cost of equity - if AA manages to survive until post covid . Food panda, gojek, and grab have to give a proportion of their equity just to get funding, thereby diluting shareholder returns. AirAsia is the only airline company that is offering a super app. I dont see gojek, food panda or grab offering airline services. Even if they do, they have to form a partnership with some airlines, which would lead to some conflict of interest during the negotiation process. I think AirAsia already has the infrastructure to make a super app ...together with its fleet of planes( logistics and travel), hotels(tune hotel) or partnership with other hotels, food delivery, and micro loan services, AA can dominate the super app market in Malaysia or perhaps the SEA region.

The key is why Airasia park online lending license directly in under the group?
Do people actually know the impact? Just look at what alipay did to china.
And the amount of ex presidents scrambling for a market share in this.

Sweetchocalates AA have the infrastructure to make superapp? don't make me laugh, everytime they have sale the booking system would crash. AA are running very old fashion IT system compare with startup that use the latest technology.

what is the point of superapp having a airline? they can just add a travel app like kayak or kiwi to search for deal across all the airlines in the world.

The reason why AA isn't soaring is because big funds can't enter. Not because they don't want to. Ask someone with financial regulatory rule knowledge.

Posted by Sweetchocalates > 2020-11-26 16:36 | Report Abuse

Newbie1111 A superapp having kiwi, kayak or others alike to get airline deals is hard to execute. Currently, what they can get at most out of this path is hotel deals like gojek and tiket.com to book hotels. As of now, i have yet to see any superapp that has airline deals alongside food deliveries, microloans, ans hotels. Even if it's successful, it's not permanent. AirAsia got kicked out of traveloka platform not long ago.

Posted by Sweetchocalates > 2020-11-26 16:37 | Report Abuse

As i have already said, airasia already has the infrastructure.

Posted by Sweetchocalates > 2020-11-26 16:41 | Report Abuse

And also ...do you see traveloka, kiwi or kayak do food deliveries or micro lending? No.

The most important aspect for the app is the health. Look at the partner involved to get digital certification to travel which will be crucial next year. Pcr test. Covid 19 travel insurance. And evevtually proof of vaccination.
Do you see any other airline providing you a one stop shop ready for the new travel rules next year?

Worst is over for Travel/ airlines stock. If you are optimistic about airlines stock, Airasia is one of the cheapest stock in the world. Add now for better rewards.

Budget 2021 approved by Dewan Rakyat

Ahmad Naqib Idris/theedgemarkets.com
November 26, 2020 15:32 pm +08
https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/budget-2021-approved-dewan-rakyat

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 26): After a heated session during Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz’s wrapping-up speech on Budget 2021, the bill was approved at the policy stage.
Towards the end of the session, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun asked for a show of hands of those for and against the budget, and decided that there were more Members of Parliament (MPs) who agreed with the budget, although Pokok Sena MP Datuk Mahfuz Omar interjected and motioned for a tally of the votes.
However, this required 15 MPs to support the call for a tally. Only 13 stood up in support of the tally, according to the Speaker.
“There are fewer than 15 people [supporting the call for a tally]. There are more voices [in agreement with the budget]. The bill will see its second reading now,” he said.
The wrap-up by the minister was a heated one as ruling and opposition MPs furiously interjected for clarifications of certain issues, including the expansion of the Employees Provident Fund's (EPF) i-Sinar facility to include those receiving pay cuts due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Subang MP Wong Chen claimed that the EPF’s inflows amount to no more than RM20 billion per year, and therefore could not cover the total increased allocation of RM70 billion for the i-Sinar facility.
“Where is the EPF going to find the extra RM50 billion? Are they going to sell their shareholdings in listed companies on Bursa Malaysia? If this hits the headlines tomorrow, we will have a big problem,” he said.
However, Tengku Zafrul clarified that the EPF is seeing inflows of RM80 billion per year, adding that the Ministry of Finance (MoF) had looked into the matter.
“I would like to correct the facts. We conducted a detailed analysis of this for over a week. Actually, the inflows are not RM20 billion, RM30 billion or RM40 billion. It is RM80 billion per year,” responded the minister.
Following that, Wong pointed out that withdrawals by contributors, amounting to RM40 billion to RM50 billion per year, had to be taken into account as well — before his microphone was muted by the Speaker.
The session quickly devolved into a shouting match among the MPs, which resulted in intermittent muting of the MPs’ microphones by a visibly irritated Speaker.
“This is embarrassing behaviour. We are debating on the budget and this is how we are behaving? The rakyat are watching all of us here!” he said.
Other points mentioned during Tengku Zafrul's speech included a reduction in allocation for the Special Affairs Department (JASA) to make way for increases in other allocations, although he did not elaborate.
On the various proposals for a further extension of the loan moratorium, he said all who are eligible — whether they are in the B40, M40 or T20 category — will be able to request for various forms of assistance, which also include reducing or rescheduling loan repayments, from their respective banks.
