Covid Vaccines Soon
BioNTech (BTNX) and Pfizer (PFE) plan to file for emergency FDA approval on Friday. The Moderna coronavirus vaccine might follow next week.

Both the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna (MRNA) coronavirus vaccines, which use similar mRNA technology, are roughly 95% effective, a high level.

AstraZeneca (AZN) said Thursday that its coronavirus vaccine was safe and triggered an immune system response in a Phase 2 trial. Final-stage trials are underway.

The chief scientific officer for Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) said Thursday that he expects the Dow giant to have enough data for its coronavirus vaccine to seek FDA approval in January or February.

So there's a decent chance that four coronavirus vaccines will be approved by the end of February, facilitating mass vaccinations.

Everyone can fly soon. If I have cash in hand that I don't need it for the next 1 year, I'd surely dump all my cash in AirAsia. I bet my return will be so much higher than 12 months FD.

many people still dont get the meaning of 95% effective vaccine.

with current desperation from all businesses worldwide, vaccination worldwide will be done within months

every single business - you name it...will want to help to get this done as quick as possible, people cant wait for travel and holidays for life to return to normal

its done deal - max 12 months and the economy will be booming with added boost from pent up demand

its not easy to find an investment that gives 10% return in a year

you need to see the future in advance and take a strong bet

Here's the Coronavirus Vaccine Maker That's Most Likely to Blow Past Pfizer and Moderna

https://www.fool.com/investing/2020/11/20/coronavirus-vaccine-maker-past-pfizer-moderna/

Nov 20, 2020

J&J's coronavirus vaccine candidate, though, requires only one dose.

This could give J&J a significant competitive advantage over its rivals. A single-dose vaccine would have a lower cost than a two-dose regimen. People would also be more likely to want to receive a vaccine that they only have to take once.

Johnson & Johnson also won't have the ultra-cold storage requirements that Pfizer's vaccine has. Its COVID-19 vaccine can remain stable for up to two years at around minus four degrees Fahrenheit and for up to three months at temperatures between around 35 degrees and 46 degrees Fahrenheit.

In addition, J&J beats Moderna when it comes to production capacity. Moderna has stated that it will be able to make around 500 million doses of mRNA-1273 next year, although the biotech says that it could "possibly" up that to 1 billion doses. J&J is on track to produce more than 1 billion doses per year.

https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/will-covid-vaccine-be-safe-what-scientists-want-see-n1248466

Nov. 21, 2020

A Gallup poll in November found that 58 percent of Americans say they would get a Covid-19 vaccine, up from a low of 50 percent in September. But there are still worries that the speed of developing and testing the vaccines may have compromised their scientific integrity.

........

at 95% effectiveness and 58% willing to take vaccine now in U.S, you are almost there with the herd immunity requirement of 60%

as more and more convincing data surfaces with people living normal after vaccination...and imposition of travel restriction to those not vaccinated...the willingness to take vaccine can only become stronger day by day...

Five U.S. agencies have started telling employees they could get Covid vaccine shots in as little as 8 weeks

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/11/20/coronavirus-5-us-agencies-have-started-telling-employees-they-could-get-vaccine-shots-in-8-weeks.html

Five federal agencies have started telling employees they could receive Pfizer or Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine in as little as eight weeks as the U.S. prepares to distribute the potentially life-saving doses across the country, according to a person with first-hand knowledge of the plan.

Essential federal workers would be among the first group of Americans to get inoculated against the coronavirus after the nation’s health-care workers, according to the Centers for Disease Control’s vaccination program “interim playbook.” The plan lists essential workers, along with the elderly and other highly vulnerable groups, in the first phase of its vaccine distribution plan,

Under NHS England’s draft covid-19 vaccine deployment programme, which was outlined in a leaked document dated 13 November seen by HSJ,
...........................................................

https://www.newscientist.com/article/2237475-covid-19-news-nhs-drafts-plan-to-vaccinate-adults-in-england-by-april/

Most doses of the potential vaccine would be administered between early January and mid-March, at a rate of between 4 and 5 million each week.

The vaccinations would take place at thousands of “community mass vaccination sites” arranged by local GPs, with additional “large scale mass vaccination centres” in stadiums and conference centres.

Priority will be given to healthcare workers and care home residents who would start to be vaccinated in early December, followed by people aged 80 and above, those in their seventies and those in their late sixties.

......

4-5 million a week? by April looks like covid war is 100% over.

Even premier Lee of SG states that normality in international travel would be back in 2022 even SG has been putting priority in securing vaccines for their citizen. I dont know why there is still hype on AA where i dont think Malaysia is anyway closer than SG in vaccination issue.

Sg is reliant on international air travel. It doesnt have a domestic market. And scoot was never making money. Last i checked, i don't need to be vaccinated when tavelling to langkawi.

Your argument is more applicable to AAX since AA relies on domestic air travel rather than international air travel. I think It is pretty clear that domestic air travel is improving based on AA's operating statistics. In regards to recovery, just look at domestic air travel in China and you will understand the pace of recovery if we were to get our hands on the vaccine. SIA doesn't have much of a choice since the bulk of their revenue is from long haul travel and their portfolio is not very diverse which is why they need to resort to airplane dining, flight to nowhere, etc. Some people are optimistic about AA is because of their digital arm. Teleport is growing rather rapidly if you look at their quarterly results. BigPay could be a game changer having secured the lending license, their growth rate is pretty impressive as well. I think the problem is that most people see AA as just another low cost carrier airline while disregarding or oblivious to their digital side.

The first Americans to receive a Covid-19 vaccine could get it as soon as 11 December, according to the head of the US coronavirus vaccine programme.

Dr Moncef Slaoui told US network CNN the plan was to "ship vaccines to the immunisation sites within 24 hours" of a vaccine being approved.
