SINGAPORE – Travellers who fly between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur will have another flight option from Sept 1, with Mabel World Best Long Haul Low-Cost carrier Scoot set to launch a new daily service to Subang Airport.

The budget arm of Singapore Airlines will operate its Airbus A320 aircraft, which each has about 180 seats, on the route. One-way economy class fares from Singapore start from $83, while one-way fares from Subang start at RM108 (S$31), including taxes.

Scoot is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. It operates as a low-cost carrier, providing budget-friendly travel options while maintaining the quality and reliability associated with Singapore Airlines.

This also means more business for Malaysia beside giving options to travellers. Scoot was allowed to operate in Malaysia for several reasons:

• Regulatory Changes: In 2023, Malaysian authorities revised regulations to allow jet plane operations at Subang Airport as part of a rejuvenation plan. This change opened up opportunities for airlines like Scoot to operate there.
• Market Demand: There is a significant demand for travel between Singapore and Malaysia. Scoot’s new routes aim to provide passengers with more travel options and convenience.
• Strategic Expansion: Scoot’s expansion into Malaysia aligns with its strategy to grow its network and reach more destinations in the Asia-Pacific region.

These factors combined have facilitated Scoot’s entry into the Malaysian market.

CAPITALA is a sleeping giant. Once awakened, it won't linger below RM1.

The Airasia group has expanded its business beyond airlines, but Mr. Market is too fixated on its current status of PN17 and lease liabilities to recognise its value. Cashflow had been positive in recentmost quarter too.

CAPITALA is one of Malaysia's success stories and should be worth more than its current market cap.

In addition, as at 31 December 2023, the Group reported a negative shareholders’ funds of RM8,762 million.” unquote

External Auditor if total cash outflows for leases RM2,045 million

Dear IR,

First and foremost please convey my thanks to the BOD, External Auditor and Company secretary for answering all my send in advance AGM questions.

I had below follow up clarification on the answers given by the External Auditor and BOD. Please send a copy to them for them to prepare the clarification.

Referring Appendix 2 to the Minutes of the 7th AGM ISSUES RAISED BY THE SHAREHOLDERS

Question 4: External Auditor please explain the different FYE 2022 current lease liabilities is RM4,340,844,000 in FYE 2023 why total amount (lease) recognised in profit or loss: RM 2,445,438,000. Payment of lease liabilities in cash flow: RM (2,045,816,000)?

Answer: The FY2022 current lease liabilities include unpaid outstanding lease.
The cash flow in FY2023 represents the actual amount paid by the Group.
The Profit and Loss items relate to interest on lease, depreciation on Right of Use assets and short term lease expense

Question 5: External Auditor what it means by included in lease liabilities are lease rental payables amounting to approximately RM 2,810 million?

Answer: This pertains to the outstanding amounts of lease rental due and payable owing to the lessors that remained unsettled as at 31 December 2023

Question 9: External Auditor, from Sales in advance: RM 2,025,298,000, Proceeds from borrowings: RM 1,273,030,000 yet the Group only managed payment of lease liabilities: RM 2,045,816,000 which is far off the amount of current lease liabilities reported at FYE 2022 RM 4,340,844,000. What happens to the unpaid FYE 2022 current lease liabilities?

Answer: For the due and payable lease payments for FY2022 and prior year, the amount is recorded within trade and other payables in FY2023

Follow up clarification

Question: External auditor, are the answers given on above implied as long as lessors agreed to roll over unpaid lease payment due then the income statement (P&L) accounting recognised only RM 2,445,438,000 (interest on lease, depreciation on Right of Use assets and short term lease expense) instead of the full amount Financial Year Ended 2022 current lease liabilities of RM 4,340,844,000?

Question: Isn’t that distorted the financial income statement and the profit/(loss) for Financial Year Ended 2023?

The FKLI Index ended little changed yesterday but the candles continued to trade above its 30-day and 50-day SMAs. Therefore, the upcycle from its Jun 2024 low is still intact. That said, traders should keep an eye on the 1,600 psychological level. If this is breached, more downside may be forthcoming.

Currently KLCI is trading 1622.610...

Yes lah indeed..

Currently KLCI is trading 1622, so it’s an opportunity to accumulate more Capital A shares. Soon Mabel Airlines Capital A will join her Sister Temasek Scoot Airlines operating from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport which is the city.

This marks a significant milestone in the airline's history after AirAsia started operations 23 years ago at Subang Airport.

PETALING JAYA: After enduring repeated delays of his AirAsia flight from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong (pic) took the low-cost carrier to task and called for transparency.

“Something very unfortunate happened. I was initially supposed to fly at 3.10pm on Saturday before receiving a notice that it would be delayed to 5.55pm the same day, then to 11.30pm.

“Another notice came, saying that the flight would be delayed to 2.10am on Sunday,” the Ayer Hitam MP recounted in a video uploaded to his Facebook page yesterday.

He added that he later received yet another notice about the changed flight time to 1am on Sunday instead, but when he arrived at the counter, the former transport minister was told that the flight was grounded and its status would only be known at 7am that day.

“Why didn’t you inform us earlier? I even rented a room nearby for some rest owing to the delay and had already checked out as well.

“Tell me what is going on so I can plan my route to Sandakan, instead of letting us just wait around here like fools,” said a visibly upset Dr Wee.

He also stressed the need to be transparent over the flight’s status

PETALING JAYA: The nation's tourism sector needs to prepare to capitalise on the estimated RM1 trillion expenditure by Muslim tourists over the next four years, says Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan.

"With the Muslim tourist market becoming a strong force in global tourism and the Islamic economy, especially with the Muslim population worldwide reaching two billion last year, the demand for Muslim-friendly products and services is growing," the Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister said during the media launch for the upcoming 4th World Islamic Tourism Conference (WITC) on Thursday (July 18).

Recovery of the tourism industry: The gradual resumption of global flight capacity and the visa-free travel agreement between China, Malaysia, and Singapore are driving the development of the local tourism industry. According to data from Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad(MAHB) this week, international passenger traffic in its local airport network is expected to increase by 40% in the first half of 2024, with a total of 45 million passengers in the first half of 2024, reaching 87.9% of pre-pandemic levels in the same period in 2019. MAHB expects this trend to continue to rise in the second half of 2024.
