He just doesn’t know how to evaluate a share based on its profitability and going concern issue, I don’t see any going concern issue in this company and in fact the government has just announced there would be an increase in demand of palm oil in the near future and palm oil price is expected to continue to rise.
During the quarter, Sarawak Plantation registered the strongest fresh fruit bunches production growth, up 20.9 per cent followed by FGV, 14.8 per cent and IOI Corp, 12.4 per cent.
The company is currently trading at a forward PER of 13x, which is unjustifiable given its explosive earnings growth. We value the stock based on 20x FY20 PER and maintain our Outperform call with an unchanged TP of RM2.80.
I have held SWKPlant for 4 years, but have never lost faith. I bought some more in November @1.60 and a few more about 2 weeks ago @ 1.96 - I note that PublicInvest increased their price target from 2.06 (20th Nov) to 2.80 on 17th Dec. As this share has seriously lagged behind other planters I believe 2.60 -80 is quite possible, especially if trading volume continues to increase. I also think the dividend for 2020 could be as high as 8 cents. Hang in there - we are about to be rewarded !
SARAWAK PLANTATION's main business segments include oil palm plantations and milling.
Its earning performance has been overall unstable in last five years, whereby its earning per share overall fluctuated from 2.3 sen to 15.7sen. In 2018 financial year, the company declared a dividend of 5 sen per share, which amounts to a dividend yield of 2.44%. In terms of current development, Ta Ann Holdings Berhad undergone acquisition of a significant stake in Sarawak Plantation to enable the Company to leverage on Ta Ann's experience and expertise in plantation managements.
The price trend over the past 1 month has been rather confusing. if you look at the reported production statistics alone: Q3 2019 (Jul-Sept) CPO Production: 36,759MT (average selling price: ~RM2000/MT) Q4 2019 (Oct-Dec) CPO Production: 35,909MT (average selling price: ~RM2500/MT [conservatively])
there is already an upside of about RM18mil revenue from higher selling prices. Assuming overheads remain unchanged (presumably fertilizer application rate is the same, overheads under control due to Ta Ann management) operating profit should improve by at least RM15-16mil.
Q4 results just announced, I was off on the operating profit figure because of higher operating costs (not disclosed in the report) but earnings per share did improve to 3.11 sen per share.
Solid quarter overall, expecting more of the same in 1Q2020
the lack of volume is so frustrating. here you have a fantastically efficient plantation player. solid results every quarter (even with CPO price was shit). Production not affected at all by Covid or MCO and traders are instead focused on counters like RSAWIT (cannot even make money at RM3,000/MT), TSH (profitable and well managed but overloaded with debt), JTIASA (same issue with RSAWIT) and FGV (nonsense)
If trading volume could only increase to 400-500,000 per day SWKPlant could well go to well over 2. One of the few small cap planters not to have diluted their shares with pointless bonus and splits. Look what happened to TDM and THP and BPLANT SWKPlant only 280m shares issued.
KM loong result good With the recent volatile movements in CPO commodity price and sharp recovery from a level near RM2,000 per MT in May 2020 to the current level of above RM2,900 per MT, the management is of the view that CPO price could hold above RM2,700 per MT in near term. However, CPO price is generally susceptible to fluctuation of currency exchange rate, demand and supply of commodity and import policies of major importing countries. With the impressive performance for the first six months which has surpassed the profit made in the whole of the preceding year, we foresee the Group’s performance for the financial year 2021 will be good.
