All telcos are not fools. For example, there are no telcos which give u a free smartphone with no contract to enable u port out the next day. They have better safeguards than that. Digi gives free smartphone with some of their packages but u have to pay for the smartphone upfront. Then they will reduce yr monthly bill with a fixed amount for a period of time till the upfront payment u made has been exhausted. Some of those with an axe to grind who posted in facebook that other telcos do not require them to sign a contract.

The competition btw. telcos are getting fierce, the market expects it could go even more challenging in future and therefore the telcos' profit margin will be affected in the coming days(even the clients base are getting bigger for some telcos). Therefore, it could be one of the reason why all telcos not perform well lately.

yes, congratulations to Maxis. looks like many people want to dump this stock and many people that have been with maxis > 10years including their M.O.C and elite M.O.C also ported.. next quarter we should be able to seem more how bad the earnings for maxis are. Hell even me that is spending > RM 500 a month on maxis bills also ported to Celcom.
So awaiting for this stock to reach lower, the lower the better.

In the StarBiz today..Interview with Lundal.. He hinted that Maxis is not much affected by recent events. "I'm guessing between 3 and 5 million and I have seen over 10 to 12 years-that changesm to whichever operator has the latest promotions ...They follow all promotions..The majority of them are probably multi SIM cards and lower ARPU cards... They are promotion seekers who shift around to the lowest promotions. He means to say even if Celcom or others have grab these segment, it won't last long n these segment will hop to whichever telco which offers another lower promotion. TM's webe will grab them, I think.
"Giving certain customers certain offers happens to every industry." Only that we are not aware of it.. Financial services, airlines, most service industries...
Investment banks are known to offer lower commissions to funds than they charge the ikan bilis.
