Cos the div 5sen deducted from price, so guess u get the div if u sell today, so real price if we sell now at 6.35 is actually 6.35+0.05 =6.40

In the short term, I think all telcos are overvalued now. As all the telcos price their products higher, a new normal can be achieved.

Junichiro: can you pls elaborate?

Well, it is just thru' the lens of a layman investor. I assume telcos would have to borrow the one off payment. Maxis n Celcom is highly leveraged n thus have to cut their div. As to Digi, it is less impacted but its profit would be affected.
2017 would see the rest of its spectrum expire for all telcos n MCMC would again demand another one off payment n year payment.
Based on this, I am bearish on telcos.
I have already hive off all my telco shares n I would prefer other sectors instead.
Do let me have a glimpse of yr point of view.

I got my portfolio heavy on this two telco : Maxis & Digi. I assumed since EPF & ASB were heavy in it... the GOV will not 'disturb' it too much cos EPF will have to pay divvy, hence any form of dilution would effect the most heavy investor , namely EPF & ASB. Digi is stiil in the red but maxis is green already in my portfolio. Maybe I think I wouldsell down on these two.

But this was already known few months back, so must had been factored into the price. I feel epf will try to scare the weak holders and push down the price for a while.... the might sell amiliion and just buy back a few mils when the price is low... then push the price back up

I have a feeling that Maxis have the intention to make private placement of its shares at a discount to the current market price to certain investors. It does not make sense to push up its price as most analyst price it at 5xx.

For me Maxis is win. I have 1 win n 3 losses for Digi.

If Telco dont increase price of service to subscribers, then share price will go down.. less profit...... BUT if ALL telcos pass the price to consumers... Telcos will stable.... and there is a YEARLY FEES to be paid to the Gov...

UNLESS the payments was forseen and factored into t he price of share ... this was know a few months back.. just not the exact quantum......

minus about 800 million plus and annual fee maybe 70 million from their revenue ( if cost not passed on to customers),.... just like price drop for AA when stupid Gov increased the airport fees for each flier... AA dropped... but when they realised the cost will be passed to the cust by way of tax etc.. the price improved.

Opinions given are my own. Do not use it for your sale or purchases decision. Refer to a qualified broker for your investment/divestment decisions.

Published on: Friday, September 02, 2016
Kuala Lumpur: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) announced the spectrum reallocation pricing in the 900MHZ & 1,800MHZ spectrum.
In a statement, MCMC chairman Datuk Seri Dr Halim Shafie said the two bands of spectrum are being assigned for a fee to Celcom, Digi, Maxis and U Mobile for a period of 15 years. Halim said this is also in line with the government's decision to optimise the use of spectrum resources.

"A study was conducted and the fee determined per block of 2x5MHz in each band, 900MHz and 1,800MHz," he said.

The 2x5MHz block in the 900MHz band will cost RM499.725 million and the 2x5MHz block in the 1,800MHz band, RM217.77 million.

The total fee payable by each player will depend on the amount of spectrum allocated to them in these bands.

He went on to explain that to ensure costs are not passed down to subscribers, it is a condition of the allocation that players should offer packages that are cheaper than current prices.

Halim said the same approach in spectrum optimisation would also be used for all other relevant spectrum bands such as the 700MHz, 2,300MHz and 2,600Mhz.

Meanwhile, U Mobile Sdn Bhd has received a Letter of Offer from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, dated Aug 30, 2016, for the allocation of 2x5MHz of 900MHz and 2x15MHz of 1800MHz bands, effective July 1, 2017.

In a statement Thursday, U Mobile said the acceptance deadline for the offer letter is the same for other telecommunication companies.

"The spectrum fee consists of price component of RM503,406,000 and an annual fee component of RM43,305,000," it said. – Bernama
