I believe, if YTLP take over by YTL through share swap, the ratio will likely 1 to 1, unattractive offer. This is based on YTLP the fact that it cancelled the 3.3% treasury mostly bought at lower side of the share price in early these year, price range from 1.40-1.50 and latest range from 1.56-1.61.

They bought back their shares YTLPOWER at the range RM1.50 - RM1.80 ~~(Not just RM1.40-RM1.50)
And they keep support this counter at RM1.54 ~~
So I dont think the price will takeover below RM1.60 ~~~(Yeow Not same as Vincent Tan)
My friend attended the EGM...Yeoh tell them have to be patient !! For me ~~ I wont get "trap"(sell) when no dividend annouce...when no dividend annouce...MUST be a news coming out ! I just wallap Huge lots aT YTLPOWER-WB TODAY !! :d
Cheers !

YTLP continue buyback share, so expect more treasury share to be cancelled once reach another 3% stake. I think if cancellation share continue, the total outstanding share will reduce gradually, therefore reduce swap ratio with YTL later.

250 million shares cancelled.. more firepower to continue share buy back..new mandate..to absorb wotever EPF wants to throw..i continue to buy the WB on any weakness as hv sold all abv 0.52 last rally recently...

Since YTLP have not declare any dividend, just keep share buyback and cancel later, holding WB actually have more advantage like: almost zero premium, good leverage about 4x and alike new warrant, still have 5 year tenure.

Juz heard CNN that if there is a war strike, its likely this sat. It's more of a question of when. Tomorrow is Friday and usually profit taking anyway ... So it would be interesting to see if sell down will be drastic again...

With good support for mum share YTLP through consistent share buyback, accumulating YTLP-WB offer limited downside risk and once confirm take over news through share swap with YTL, WB will boom up

I think the swap ratio between YTLP and YTLCorp likely to improve from 1: 1 to 1: 1.2, with indicating price for YTLCorp at RM 1.50

So which one is better? Holding the wb or share? If they decide to privatize then wb will lose its value right?

I believe the swap ratio have improve to 1 YTLP to 1.2 YTL corp and 0.4 YTLP WB to 1 YTLcorp, with indicating price for YTL corp at 1.50 (5 sen more than previous take over for YTL cement at 1.45)

YTLP is like previous YTL cement case which its business is about to turnaround. The major dragging Wimax is expect to narrowing loss further and YTLP earning is expecting to improved significantly in next quarter due to

1. Stronger US dollar, Singapore dollar, UK pound

2. Price hike in Wessex Water

3. Price hike in Electranet

4. Further narrowing loss in Wimax and 1 besterinet capex is at tailing end and about ready to contributing earning

Share buyback and later cancel it, is much more better than cash dividend> Share buyback not only deem as own share is undervalue, it reduce share overhang by weak holder, it increase EPS and value of share once the treasure share is cancel. The share buyback rather than cash dividend particularly benefit its warrant, it increase its appeal more and YTLP WB still have 5 year tenure should finally trading at premium.

there are advantages of no dividend given, if you're looking for dividend you certainly went to the wrong counter. Years ago YTLP is for best dividend counter, now buy and hold for M&A news but make sure it's just a small part of your investment money, cause nobody knows when they will do it.

I believe YTLP opt to cancel the treasury rather than redistribute back to shareholder is proof the thesis that privatization through share swap is on the way.

By cancel the share, it essentially reduce the number of YTL share to be issue under share swap, reduce dilute effect of Yeoh family stake in YTLcorp, and increase value of Yeoh family direct stake in YTLP and YTLP-WB

YTLP will keep buyback its share from open market once the targeted exchange ratio is reach and announcement of share swap will be make offer to minority shareholder

certainly, M&A is in progress. Step by step, because ytlp largest shareholder beside ytl is EPF. They control it thru ytl. I just bought in 1.65 today when seeing buying force is so strong at that level, if no mistake shar buy back is excercised at rm1.66-1.65

YTLP continued sharebuy back is good and will support the price; but see EPF transactions also blur what they are trying to do : the last 3 transaction macham playing the fool - buy 1,268,500, followed by sell 4,000,000, followed by sell 1,268,500 ! Next, what will EPF do ? I follow them closely, they are our retirement fund manager.

The weaker ringgit, the better YTLP profits. Next quarter will be a big jump for them as their business are all over the world i.e. UK, S'pore, Australia. It's definitely a plus for YTLP.

Agree, stronger UK pound + Sing dollar definitely are the bonus to YTLP. Also, develop 1besterinet should further narrow Yes Wimax loss.

Stocks that failed the debt ratio are most vulnerable to
selldown by Islamic funds while both Islamic and
conventional funds may also take preemptive actions by
reducing their holdings in these stocks ahead of adoption.
This is despite the 6 months grace period given to Shariah
funds after effective date of Nov 13.

Interest in WiMAX players grows amid possible DiGi M&A

PETALING JAYA: Shares of WiMAX operators rose on active trading yesterday amid speculation of a possible rise in merger and acquisition (M&A) activity in the telecommunications space, with DiGi.Com Bhd seen as possibly being on the hunt to buyout such companies.

StarBizWeek had reported over the weekend that large telco operator needs for wireless spectrum could become the basis for such M&A activity. The report quoted analysts who had speculated DiGi.Com Bhd could be looking at buying out WiMAX players primarily for their wireless spectrum.

Shares of Green Packet Bhd, the major owner of WiMAX operator Packet One Networks Sdn Bhd, rose the most, gaining by 7 sen or 21% to close at 40 sen, with 31 million shares traded.

The shares of REDtone International Bhd and YTL Power International Bhd, the owners of the other two WiMAX operators in the country, rose marginally by 1.2% and 3.13% respectively.

A dealer noted that he wasn’t surprised that Green Packet shares rose the most amid the M&A speculation, considering that the company had already declared some time ago its intention to seek possible “strategic alternatives”.

Last October, following press reports that Green Packet had received bids for its 61% stake in P1, Green Packet had confirmed that it was exploring strategic alternatives for P1 “including the possibility of merger, consolidation, to sell a stake and other options to maximise shareholders value.”

The report by StarBizWeek had highlighted that major telco’s such as Maxis and Celcom have been quick to ink collaboration deals with other recipients of the valuable 2600 MHz wireless spectrum band, leaving DiGi with the least amount of access to that spectrum.

DiGi also has only a fraction of the 900 MHz spectrum that both Celcom and Maxis have.
