PERBADANAN Putrajaya (PPj) mengesahkan kerajaan akan meneruskan laluan monorel yang sebelum ini ditangguhkan pada pertengahan 2004.

Presiden PPj, Datuk Aminudin Hassim berkata, pembinaan monorel itu akan dibuat secepat mungkin dan kajian mengenainya sudah dibuat.

“Pada pertengahan tahun ini, Kementerian Wilayah Persekutuan dan Kementerian Pengangkutan akan membuat perbincangan susulan mengenai projek terbabit.

“Antara yang akan dibincangkan adalah jenis laluan akan digunakan serta jenis pembiayaan sama ada ia akan dibiaya sedikit oleh pihak swasta atau sebaliknya.

“Tetapi saya menjangkakan sudah tentu pembinaan monorel ini tidak akan dibiaya sepenuhnya oleh kerajaan, akan ada syarikat swasta turut sama membiayainya,” katanya selepas Majlis Pra Perlancaran Festival Kesenian dan Kebudayaan Islam Antarabangsa Putrajaya 2019 (PIIACUF 2019), hari ini.

Aminuddin berkata, pembinaan monorel itu sudah tentu akan memberi manfaat ekonomi kepada Pusat Pentadbiran Kerajaan Persekutuan.

Selepas Perdana Menteri, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad berundur (sebagai Perdana Menteri keempat) banyak idea beliau dibatalkan oleh penggantinya, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Antara dibatalkan ketika itu ialah monorel yang kini hanya tinggal terowong yang tidak disiapkan dan jambatan yang tidak dihubungkan merentasi tasik buatan manusia.

Mengikut perancangan asal, monorel berkenaan dicadangkan mempunyai dua aliran, satu sepanjang 12 kilometer (km) dengan 17 stesen dan satu lagi sepanjang 6 km dengan enam stesen.

Pembangunan fasa pertama projek itu membabitkan sistem pengangkutan monorel bawah tanah dan jejantas sepanjang lapan kilometer menghubungkan Kementerian Pertanian dan Industri Asas Tani di Presint 3 hingga ke Kementerian Pendidikan di Kompleks E
