Commentary on the prospects
CPO price has fallen sharply since May 2022 following Indonesia’s decision to remove the ban
on palm oil export and market concern over rising palm oil stockpiles. However, it appears to
have stabilise in recent times and is currently hovering at around RM4,000+ per MT. It is
anticipated that the CPO price will remain supported at current levels on the back of supply
concerns arising from the prolonged Russia-Ukraine conflict and softer production outlook for
soybean due to the return of La Nina in late 2022 and early 2023. Barring any unforeseen
circumstances, the Group is optimistic of achieving satisfactory performance for year 2022.
The Board also remains optimistic on the long term prospect of the palm oil industry.
Restrained hectarage growth in oil palm planting over the last few years due to RSPO
regulations and Indonesian Government’s moratorium on deforestation will have an impact over
the global palm oil supply. Global population and per capita income growth as well as the many
health qualities of palm oil are expected to drive greater demand for palm products. This augurs
well for the Group as palm products segment will remain the core contributor to the Group
profit.

Revenue has actually increased. It is the impairment and forex that trimmed down the profit. Overall the prospect of the company is still good.

Other than the EPS, TSH has actually improved its fundamentals

Borrowings decreased. Leverage (equity vs liabilities) is better. I’d failed to follow TSH much of late but I’m just curious about that RM200M decrease in non-current assets…

The reduction of about RM250 non-current assets must be the amortization of the property, plant and equipment, if I am not mistaken. Further details should be available in the next annual report.

In the best of time, TSH's performance appears to be lacklustre.

UPlant's operating profit ratio was 36.83% whereas TSH operating profit ratio is only 20.8%

It's puzzling that payments for Indonesia export levy and duty more than doubled to over RM100 millions, especially since the percentage of sales to Indonesian customers was 64% compared to 39.8% in the previous quarter. [Presumably, export levy and duty will be applicable only for foreign customers. And export levy and duty ought to have declined due to a reduction in the percentage of export customers]

Perhaps TSH should run a pipeline from Indonesia to Malaysia to avoid paying export levy and duty.

Like how Hibiscus is doing.

Run a pipeline from Sabah's territorial waters and deliver oil to Labuan terminal, and therefore declare own self that taxes do not have to be paid to the Sabah government.

p.s. Hibiscus, that's call stealing.

[ The Sabah government has collected RM808 million in sales tax on petroleum products during the first six months of this year, the state assembly was told today.

Sabah finance minister II Masidi Manjun said this was 73% of the total sales tax revenue of RM1.1 billion expected to be collected this year.

He said the total collected from the implementation of the sales tax on April 1, 2020 until June 30 this year amounted to RM2.45 billion.

Between Q1 and Q2, the increase in levy and export duty is around 50%.

Is puzzling that TSH's payments for levy and export duty jumped from RM46M to RM100M.

The percentage of sales to Indonesian customers for Q2 was 64%.

Wouldn't Indonesian customers be classified as local sales and , as such, levy and export duty do not apply?

Revenue up SIGNIFICANTLY , profit is down slightly only because of foreign exchange. But profit is still 3 times better than few years ago. My dream is real.
