Let's watch if Taann can break out from 4.10. On cargo surveyors' data, shipments of Malaysian palm oil products for March seen rising between 20.5% and 29.2% compared to February, according to Intertek Testing Services and AmSpec Agri Malaysia. Palm oil future close@4392, 2nd day higher than 4320, let see if can sustain tomorrow. If flag pattern breakout confirmed, with roughly measurement of 1st leg (4300-3840=460), 2nd leg potential uptrend can be 4150+460=4610.

FCPO: On cargo surveyors' data, shipments of Malaysian palm oil products for March likely jump between 11.77% and 29.2%, said Intertek Testing Services, AmSpec Agri, and SGS. Meanwhile, Reuters estimated stockpiles likely fall by 6.65% mom to an 8-month low of 1.79 million tons at the end of March.

Malaysia palm oil stock level fell 10%............
Malaysian palm oil futures were below MYR 4,280 per tonne, falling for the second session after hitting MYT 4,360 last week due to weakness in rival edible oil on the Chicago Board and a fall in palm olein on the Dalian. A drop in crude oil prices also weighed sentiment, as bets grew that the ongoing Middle East conflict would be contained. Traders were also cautious as the Eid al-Fitr festive buying nears its end. At the same time, they anticipated crucial economic data from key buyer China, including Q1 GDP figures and March industrial output and retail sales. Limiting the downside momentum was fresh data from the industry regulator showing Malaysia's palm oil stocks at the end of March fell 10.68% mom to an 8-month low of 1.71 million metric tons. Crude palm oil production gained 10.57%, while palm oil exports climbed 28.61%. On cargo surveyor data, shipments of Malaysian palm oil products for April 1-15 rose about 9.0% from the same period in March, Intertek Testing Services said.

I believe total dividend FY24 shall be 35sen.
This give rise to 9% DY! It’s hard to find this elsewhere.

Q1 results: oil palm segment performed very well .Timber segment is a drag due to poor margins caused by weakened JPY .
Oil palm’s PBT +33% yoy
Timber’s PBT -70% yoy
Overall NPAT is +10% yoy.

Encouraging results … actually , I was expecting a 10 Sen dividend so 15 is a nice surprise. This share is still cheap considering a couple of years ago it went as high as 6.15 - I’ll use the div to buy more.

Ta Ann is a Bursa Malaysia timber cum plantation company. Since Oct last year, its price had gone from about RM 3.30 per share to as high as RM 4.30 per share. Today it is down to RM 3.80 per share. Does this represent an investment opportunity?
I would consider Ta Ann a wonderful company in the Buffett sense. There were topline and bottom-line growths. It had diversified into the plantation sector delivered a big part of the growth.
The are signs of improving operating efficiencies as exemplified by the gross profitability, asset turnover, and leverage. It is financially sound and had been able to create shareholders’ value.

My valuation as shown in the Chart shows that there is more than 30% margin of safety. Surely Ta Ann cannot be a value trap.

see two macro picture
1. In Peninsular (West Malaysia )
there is a 52% diesel price rise
as such all industries will be impacted by a corresponding rise of 5% to as high as 30%
these will see higher cost
1. property
2. construction
3. construction material
4.logistic that send goods by lorry or ships
5. consumer food and drink which are bulky
6. Toll road owners
as lorries now see higher operation cost by 52% they will make less trip so less collections from till
others
2. By Nov 2024 if Trump gets elected he will impose 10% tariff (tax) for all and for China it will be 60% tariff
so all industries related to export to USA will be hit
two things will hit all
a universal price rise caused by rise of diesel 52%
a universal tariff by USA from 10% to 60%
that is why it is of utmost safety to go invest in East Malaysia stocks which got no 52% diesel rise there
and palm oil export is more to India and China (not USA)

Net profit for the three months ended June 30, 2024 (2QFY2024) was RM48.71 million or 11.06 sen per share, compared to RM42.98 million or 9.76 sen per share in the same period a year earlier.

With drier weather conditions since July, Ta Ann Holdings reported significant improvements in its timber sector, with increased production volumes of logs and plywood.
However, the group anticipates that timber product prices will continue to yield only modest profit margins.
The group’s palm oil production is on an uptrend coming into the second half of the year, with the fresh fruit bunch production cycle reaching its peak.
“With anticipation of tight supplies of vegetable crops due to dry weather in the Black Sea region as well as higher consumption of biofuels in diesel in Indonesia, crude palm oil price is expected to hover only at current level in the second half of the year,” the group said.

Public Investment maintained an “outperform” call with a revised target price of RM4.88 on Ta Ann
CGS International maintained an “add” rating with an unchanged target price of RM5.50, highlighting Ta Ann’s strong balance sheet and attractive dividend yields.
CIMB Securities maintained its “buy” call on Ta Ann with an unchanged target price of RM4.60, citing the stock’s attractive 6%-8% dividend yield.
All three research houses remain positive on Ta Ann’s long-term prospects, driven by strong performance in the plantation segment and potential recovery in timber production starting from July.
They also like the stock’s attractive dividend yield and potential for unlocking value. They also noted the higher payout ratio as another key positive factor.

TAANN has been good and I think is still a very decent business on the verge of breakout.
However, I am committed to divesting 40% of my local Bursa position from now till FYE 2025.
