I recently bought Armada @ RM1.14 and although i am currently losing money, i still believe my entry price was good.
I am investing for the long term and i believe i will still make money on this investment in the long term.
I feel this counter is fundamentally sound and will hold onto my shares in-spite of the current market volatility.
Although i have read everyone's comments and opinions, the decision to buy in was my own.
Whether i make or break, no one is to blame nor does anyone get any credit for my decision .......

i also know absolutely nothing about how the forex market works but during the Soros crash, a friend (non Malaysian) found out that her boyfriend was part of a group of people doing the trade.

When she tried to get him to stop, (because she has close Malaysian relatives), he said that it was too late and that everything was already in motion.

He also said that it wasn't just him and his group that were involved. He said that it was a large number of groups from all over the world and that everyone had already jumped onto the bandwagon and it was too late to stop anything.

Seems to indicate that there exists some kind of a network (syndicate?) at work.

If you are new to the platform there is a Video Tutorial on the OSK site that teaches you how to use it.
You can learn how to view, make or cancel orders, use the calculator to calculate the transaction cost etc.
Try the video, it's quite comprehensive.

Hmmm ... not sure about the nasi kandar eateries, but my neighborhood mamak eatery didn't really raise prices when the petrol prices went up.
(Not sure about the drink prices because i don't buy drinks.)
But the prices remained the same for the food that we pack and take away.
I think it depends on the business owners and how they choose to run their businesses.
The neighborhood eateries have alot of regular customers and i think the maintained their prices to make sure that we keep coming back.

Analysts have predicted that this current market volatility will last between 2-3 weeks. (I also share that view).
We should spend time to analyze the situation instead of immediately jumping to conclusions and (quoting Chicken Little) scream "The sky is falling!".

The first recession that i can remember happened when i was still quite young and in school. My dad took a 20% pay cut in order to keep his job. Times were hard and the family tightened our belts
The 2nd recession occurred just 2 years after i started my first business. Let's just say 2 years after that, i was forced to start all over again.
During the 3rd recession, i took Dr.M's advice and bought up stocks on the KLSE. (Some of which, i still hold until today.)
During the last 2008 recession, i took the opportunity to re balance my portfolio.

I don't believe that this hiccup in the global markets is a "recession".
But this is just my opinion.

Please check and verify. Dividend is 0.10 i think.

I am a long term investor.

I buy and hold my shares for an extended period. I have held some counters for over 15 years, although nowadays, (as i have become more active), i now normally look at a 3-5 year horizon.

I am a bottom feeder.
I will only look at shares when i think the market is dropping and the shares are near their 52 week lows and if an opportunity presents itself, i will buy in.
Please note, that i do extensive research and make sure that those counters are ones that i will be comfortable holding for a long period.
I don't listen to rumors nor do i play "active" counters.
I also only trade on a cash basis.

I do not trade on a daily basis and have ever not even looked at the stock market for more than a year.

The majority of the shares i own are blue chips or dividend paying stocks, although, i do hold a few "speculative" counters.

Have i made lost money? Yes!
Have i made money? Yes!

Everyone has their own strategy for investing.
No one is right or wrong.

Malaysia's reputation has already received an undeserved "bruising" at an international level.

I personally believe that Malaysia has done the best that it can do under the circumstances. (It is sad to see that instead of being defended by it's own citizens, Malaysia is being defended by it's international partners.)

MAS is the national carrier and before this unfortunate and tragic flight, there have never been any questions about the flight safety record of MAS.

MAS has been around for a very long time and has provided employment to alot of people as well as opened up employment opportunities at a host of other supporting industries. I'm very sure that alot of us know or have relatives and friends who are still employed by MAS or who were employed by MAS at one time or another.

Don't the current employees of MAS deserve some support from their fellow Malaysians?

Whatever happened to national pride?

(I normally hold for 10 years or more.)

Everyone invests based on his or her own rules.
I don't think there is any right or wrong way to invest.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions since we have to bear every loss and also enjoy every profit.

I think this will be helpful for all newbies who are trying to start trading on their own.

Note : This is not about much is your portfolio worth now or how much you are trading with now but
1)How Much did You Initially Set Aside to start trading with and
2)How was the money was Leveraged if at all
3)What proportion of your total assets were allocated to trading
4)Any other helpful information or advice

It would also be helpful to include information on how often you
1)Check the market
2)Place an order and Trade

(I am a long term investor and Not a trader. However, i am now looking into setting aside some money for trading and i would like to get some input/insight as to how it should be done.)

Have you ever considered that maybe he was already offered a Cabinet post before the GE13?

And in order for him not to be seen as being biased, he could not allow TI to be one of the election observers?

How would it look if TI was an election observer and TI came out with a report that GE13 was fair and transparent?
And then he subsequently took up a position in the newly formed Government?

Under the afore mentioned circumstances, it is perfectly reasonable and understandable that TI declined to be an election observer.

Sometimes, you need to look at things logically and not suspect a conspiracy around every corner ......

Economists all around the world disagree on what Governments should do in these trying times.

In America, the Government has chosen QE (quantitative easing).

In Europe they have chosen Austerity (although now, i think they are now considering changing tactics and are looking into stimulating the economies as well).

In the UK, they also chose Austerity and sacrificed growth numbers as a result.

In Japan, everyone is talking about "Abenomics" and they have also chosen QE to stimulate the economy.

Who is right and who is wrong?
No one really knows for sure, and only history will give us the answer.

So far no concrete evidence has been produced to support these allegations.

Allegations have been made against :-
MAS, Air Aisia, AirAsiaX, Risda, PDRM, as well as Private Companies/Factories (who were apparently, merely transporting their own foreign workers) etc

Some other so called "phantom voters" detained by members of the public/opposition members have even turned out to be Malaysians.

There have been claims that "evidence" exists and it is in the hands of the Oposition.
Honestly, isn't it about time that the "evidence" is revealed to the public?
And proper legal action be taken against the parties/persons or corporations resposible?

Anyone can allege anything at any time but until and unless it is properly supported by "real evidence", it is only an allegation and certainly not a fact.

I would like to give you an example and ask you to decide if you would consider these people as "phantom voters" or not.

Alot of Malaysians do not update their current addresses on their Identity Cards. This is mostly due i think, to laziness on their part, eventhough i believe it is an offence not to do so.
Anyway, alot of these people were therefore voting at constituencies to which they no longer belong.

If a physical check is made, meaning that, if you go to an address and check if the person stated as living there is in fact living there, you would find that there exists no such person at that address, however, that person has voted in the election. Now, would you say he is a "phantom voter"?

Actually, whether or not you consider him to be a "phantom voter", is irrelevant, the real question is "Who is to blame?"

It takes a long time for the results to be announced because the Borang 14 from each poling stream, of a every single constituency, needs to be compiled and then totalled up before the results can be announced.
(Not all the Borang 14 belonging to the same place will arrive at the same time. So they have to wait until all have arrived, before they can total them up and announce the full results. This was stated in the article. Obviously, this will take time.)

The EC cannot cheat on the Borang 14 because each party's agents who witnessed the counting, also have a copy of the Borang 14 from each voting stream.
This was also stated in the article.

From some of the comments, i think some of you did not bother to fully read the article and understand explainations given.

Well presented and factual.

The same could also apply to the property sector.
(When the property market crashed in America, alot of people were "under water" on their mortgages. It caused alot of pain all around.)

While everyone wants lower prices (fuel) and "freebies" (like water, tollfree highways or education), the reality is that nothing is cheap or free.

There is a cost of these items and someone has got to pay for it.

You wouldn't want to work for free and give away the efforts of your labours, would you?
Wouldn't you expect to be paid for goods and services you produced?

It seems unfair not to make the people, that use & consume these services, pay for them.

For example, would you honestly believe that it is fair for you to have to pay for your neihbour's children's education, if you don't have any children of your own?
Abolishing liability on PTPTN loans would mean exactly that.

The benefit of of someone elses education belongs to that person alone and he/she stands to reap the benefits over time, by being able to secure a better job at a better pay.

If i borrowed money and used the money for my own benefit, would it be right for me to ask other people to be responsible for my debt?

Picking who to vote for is like picking a stock to invest in.

If you want people to respect your choice then you should also respect their choice. Just like picking stocks, we can all make mistakes. And we will have to live with our choices.

The only difference is, is that with stocks, you have the ability to "cut loss".
When an election is over, you will be stuck with your choice (good or bad) for quite afew years.

So, just like stock picking, please think carefully, analyse the available facts and don't just listen to rumours or follow a "blind" crowd.

Your vote is yours and yours alone.
Make it count.

If you don't have much experience trading on the market, my advice would be to start by investing in the market instead.(Trading requires too much experience, time & effort for a beginner to master in a short space of time.)

Now that the Index is slowly dropping, pick a few strong counters (large cap, dividend paying)and monitor them.
Then when the price is right pick up just 1 lot (1000 shares) and hold it.
Don't worry too much if it continues to drop after you have purchased it. Just hold.
(Fundumentally good stocks have a way of recovering their value once the market stabilises.)

Since you are using disposable income, you can try and do this everytime you have sufficient cash.

And in no time at all ....... you should have a decent stable portfolio built up .....

I know alot of people here will disagree with me but this is just my personal opinion based on my own personal experience.
