broadband services cannot make money lah......very competitive...it is very hard for small players to compete giants like celcom, telecom and maxis....look at green packets...after 4 years...P1 is losing money and bleeding badly.........
Most likely the 0,64 volume is support by Redtone Share Buy Back. Lets see how long it can support. I agreed that Redtone is still a good company to invest but I also wish to enter with the best purchase price
They are also tendering for infrastructure jobs in East Malaysia as well as competing for jobs in building telco towers and Gov's HSBB project in East Msia. On top of that, their transfer to Main Market would attract more institutional and foreign investors, as the company is a successful turnaround company at cheap valuation now with high ROE and huge room for growth. Can buy on weakness now as we expect quarter result to improve further.
I think most of the investor are still holding firm eventhough failed in bidding for DTTB. No significant selling pressure at this moment. This is only affected shorterm investors. Long term investors have confident in this company. Let's see how is the coming quartery result.
kenlfo, u have a point there. on top of that, the management has been actively buying back shares from the market, reducing the float in the market. i believe today management is also buying back the shares, collecting them at a low price. we shall be able to see this during closing at bursa announcements.
Lets look at last previous year profit they made and try to give a guess on the coming financial result. Normally they will compare with last year same quarter result. Last year result post basic earning per share is 0.84. However, the previous quarter result earning per share only 0.74. So, in order to impress investor, the coming Q result has to be more the 0.84. Is it possible?
Just open for discussion. Without any additional businesses award, it is possible to break the previous quarter result since previous Q result is performing so well?
Vincent Tan bought Redtone subsidary or Redtone share to bid DTTB business. After failing to get it, I have the feeling that he might throw away whatever share connecting to Redtone. So, conclusion is stay away from Redtone until the price is stable.
I heard also that Redtone is now working with Celcom for the hp line service. To get a postpaid card of Redtone only need RM8. You will have 100 hours free call to the same Redtone line. So, beside Maxis, now Redtone is expending their relationship with Celcom.
I find it funny to those who thinks that Vincent Tan, a large shareholder of Redtone will just dump his shares because Redtone failed the bid. Firstly , he would lose a lot of money doing so, as the counter is liquid enough to absorb all his shares and 2nd, Redtone has just turnaround and there are so many potential projects ahead in this year. In fact, VT once said he regretted selling his Digi shares too early when he was a major shareholder too, resulting in him missing out in billions of profits more.
If you want to scare ppl away to pick this counter at lower price, save it. I'm sure firm holders of this stock will benefit in the end.
If what they said is true, 20% increase monthly, will generate revenue of RM210 million just from user subscription alone (500,000 x RM35/user x 12 months = RM210m ). But the number of months should be lower if 500,000 users can only be achieved by end of this year. Nonetheless, based on this calculation, it looks appealing.
Today price is quite stable between 0.64~0.65, it shows some support at this price. If tomorrow continues to drop, is better stay away for temporary until price is stable.
looks like positive news! not forgetting redtone int'l only hv 35% share in redtone mobile. still 35% profits is sufficient to validate the forecasted FY13/14 profits if capex is keep minimal. only how quickly they can get the subscribers......?
damn dttb sucks!!
the sell down is well absorbed today. let's see where it's heading when the dust settles....
Financial report is going to be out around 22 Jan. By looking at what the CEO has mentioned about the increase in subscription, it should be a very promising quarterly report.
Price drop will provide golden opportunity to buy at low. Redtone growth should be on HSBB and venture to China not DTTB (team up some many parties in order to tender this DTTB project)
REDtone will keep dropping because they fail to get DTTB Project (RM 1 Billion) and they have dispose its REDtone Mobile unit at 12/3. There will be not much hope this stock will flyhigh as there will be no more opportunity for U-mobile listed via REDtone backdoor nor REDtone will emerge as a new rising star apart like Digi or Maxis. What a stupid move to sell this REDtone Mobile for RM5 million only!
Maybe they are too confident they will win this DTTB Project (RM 1 Billion project revenue).
From Bursa Announcement: REDtone had on 3 December 2013 entered into a Share Sale Agreement for the disposal of the remaining 35% shareholding in RMSB to Theo Networks Sdn. Bhd. for a cash consideration of RM5 million only (“Disposal”). Upon the completion of the Disposal, REDtone will cease to have any interest in REDtone Mobile Sdn Bhd (RMSB).
KUALA LUMPUR: With experience in building telecommunications infrastructure under its belt, REDtone International Bhd is eyeing a slice of the government’s multi-billion projects targeted at expanding Internet coverage nationwide.
REDtone group CEO Lau Bik Soon said REDtone, which mainly provides Internet and data services to small to medium enterprises, could add value to Internet infrastructure in under-served areas.
“Based on the end-to-end experience that we have in the provision of engineering services, our ability to do side acquisitions, planning, optimisation, network deployment and others, we think these would add value to speed up the entire deployment [of the telecommunications infrastructure],” Lau told The Edge Financial Daily.
Lau said REDtone is not a new player in building telecommunications towers.
In fact, the telecommunications group inked a three-year deal with the government in 2012 to build, operate and maintain radio access network infrastructure in Sabah. Valued at RM82.5 million, this was REDtone’s biggest government contract hitherto ever since it ventured into the public sector two years ago.
At the tabling of the 2014 Budget in October, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced plans to bolster Malaysia’s Internet access. This includes promoting public-private partnerships for the second phase of the nation’s high speed broadband rollout, which has an investment cost of RM1.8 billion.
Apart from that, the government plans to build another 1,000 telecommunications transmission towers worth RM1.5 billion over three years in rural areas and lay new underwater cables worth RM850 million to expand coverage in Sabah and Sarawak.
These investments will be covered by the Universal Services Provision (USP) Fund, which finances the installation of network facilities in areas with a low network penetration rate. The USP Fund stood at RM7.29 billion as at end-2011.
While REDtone has the know-how in building telecommunications infrastructure, the group’s main business is providing Internet data and service. For its first quarter ended Aug 31 of 2014 financial year (1QFY14), the group’s data business contributed 70.72% to its gross profit of RM13.13 million.
REDtone’s net profit for the quarter was RM3.65 million, which was 81.72% higher than the previous year’s RM2.01 million. Its revenue of RM36.11 million was a 17.74% improvement compared with RM30.67 million in the previous corresponding period.
Lau said small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and small and medium businesses (SMBs) make up over 50% of REDtone’s customer base. However, enterprises and government agencies contribute about 70% to group revenue and profit.
“As our portfolio of services has increased, I believe that there are a lot more opportunities for us to capture,” he said.
Lau is also excited with REDtone’s high speed mobile Internet segment’s prospects.
To recap, the group has a 10-year partnership with Maxis Bhd to share the infrastructure and spectrum for the fourth generation long term evolution (4G-LTE) network.
He said REDtone’s LTE service has a new tentative launch date of June 2014, at the latest.
Instead of competing for individual consumers in an overcrowded market that is dominated by telecommunication heavyweights, Lau said REDtone plans to offer the service primarily as a value-added service to enterprises, bundled with its existing services.
As at 1QFY14, REDtone was in a net cash position as its total borrowings stood at RM5.65 million against cash of RM38.81 million, which comprised cash and bank balances and bank deposits. Its total equity was RM126.28 million.
All in, Lau said, the group could sustain its growth momentum on the back of its core competencies.
For FY13 ended May 31, the group raked in RM25.14 million in net profit or 5.23 sen per share on revenue of RM142.05 million. Its FY12 net profit came in only at RM2.15 million or 4.5 sen per share on revenue of RM106.98 million.
lost of dttb means redtone failed to secure additional source of income, despite no impact to the current book but it also means no more earning driver ahead.
I used redtone mobile known as redone among the cheapest monthly commitment. Many of my friend convert their telco to this company.. free call to all redone user.
This book is the result of the author's many years of experience and observation throughout his 26 years in the stockbroking industry. It was written for general public to learn to invest based on facts and not on fantasies or hearsay....
