Nothing wrong in seeking an offset, says Dr M

PUTRAJAYA: Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that asking for an offset in a business transaction is a normal practice, provided the money is not pocketed.

The prime minister said normally when the government procures equipment, they would ask for an offset.

“And whether you regard an offset as a bribery, that’s up to you,” he told reporters after an event here.

Mahathir was asked to comment on corruption allegations involving budget airline AirAsia and Airbus.

why not just give discount directly from invoice on purchase of aircraft. so funny must do off set. took advantage of the company discount to put in another company? This 2 executives also never think far ahead. Airbus is such a big company subject to audit, how can they give money to another company which has no business dealing. Instead can easily give discount on invoice on AAX/Airasia invoice. big fund now stay away from this counter. so how far this counter can go really doubtful for now
