Good point. AA is old company with >20K staffs how to fight with new airline?

newbie1111 sampooler the competition will not be less, the bankrupt companies would be bought at liquidation and new airline started with lower cost base.

@8888_ Maybe because Virgin airlines already close shop! way too risky to buy airline stocks now, even if they lift MCO, there will still be travel restrictions imposed by governments

Worse than Virgin Aust. Tied at the neck with Gigantic Oil Long term Contracts at very high USD 70 per barrel. Oil cannot reach back that height. AA forever non competitive and losses may be more than RM 1.5 Billion. Impossible to bail out or even administer. And we do not have Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Tmorning already parking to sell 0.78. By afternoon will drop to 0.75. Target close below 0.73

Posted by steveninvest > 2020-04-22 09:47 | Report Abuse

With the current low oil price, definitely it will benefit airasia. There is oil price stock drop a lot, but those benefit like airasia is sustain and will go up soon.

Based 1Q2020 results, say AA stops flying(grounded) for 2 months----Total expenses( salary and others non-reducible like Debt payments etc )----AA got to forked out 1.192 Billion ( of course Tony can say no money don't want to pay )

dow jones future rise...

Posted by steveninvest > 2020-04-22 10:34 | Report Abuse

newbie111, let me tell you. Nowadays people collect stock is for the future. If they really hedge oil at 60usd, what are we worry about a quarter result ?

If you read the news, Adam said AirAsia and AAX have started to implement 7% to 39% crack hedges from 1Q20 to 4Q20 (averaging around 25%), ranging from US$8 to US$12 per barrel. Usual crack spreads range from US$13 to US$15 per barrel.

It is a good sign. Just collect this stock at current low oil price.

jus collect this stock, and it will shoot up again after get approval to fly next month after the MCO.
The cash owned by airasia is more than Virgin Australia. Malaysia government will assist if there is any problem for airasia not like Virgin Australia, their government just don't care. There is no need to worry at this moment.

I would suggest to stay away from any Airline stocks. First of all, we do not know that gov has approved to lend some money to AA and Tony just seeking around to ask for more cash.

Besides, Azmin has no intention for merging because 50% flights in Malaysia conquered by AA and he don't want any monopoly in this field. It is like uber and grab once a upon time. I believe the merging will not happen but might be with others. MAS has to take care first before others.

I don't think all the finacial arm has alot of money now as they need to think of people and country. AA has cash in reserve but if they want to be the king again then more money needed.

For me retaining the employee in AA is a gimmick to show he is not retrenching anyone and able to find more source. I do know he has fair intention yet it takes some time.

If you guys has more cash then dump here slowly it will go up else keep average down till how low it gonna be we don't know.

Plus, does anyone knows if AA has oil contract with any companies, if no then it's good news for them?

Do you think the Gov going to help AA at this moment? I do remember, Tony ever teased MAS for some reason of his achievement in the past. Yet, it's time for all airline start from 0 and good time to gear up whatever they had missed.

Not retrenching any existing employees simply means AA group is using the employees as the bargaining CHIP for negotiating with respective countries' government.

AA is very important to revive the growth of the economy of malaysia through cuti cuti in malaysia campaign. to this end, the Government will provide funds to AA . so no worry

MAS is inefficient but AA is ..... MAS is hopeless in Management AA is already proven to be well managed . MAS is a burden to the nation but AA is the asset to the nation. For these valid reasons, it would be silly to kill the duck that lays golden eggs ........

AirAsia need to look for external funds for survival. I personally don't think Malaysian gov have the money toout both MaS and AirAsia. if they want, they will help MAS first rather than AA Vail

Oil drop why AA no gain?

https://www.afr.com/politics/federal/why-scott-morrison-called-virgin-s-bluff-20200421-p54lny

Why Scott Morrison called Virgin's bluff

The government's line in the sand has sent an unmistakable message to other businesses to back off.

"The Coalition government's refusal to bail out Virgin Australia sends a clear message to other large businesses not to come begging for taxpayer money.

The government is aware that if Virgin were rescued by Canberra, it would be a green light for other under-siege businesses to lobby for multibillion-dollar bailouts.

Struggling universities, major airports, toll roads and media companies will be watching the Virgin scenario closely to gauge their chances of receiving government support.

By holding the line, Scott Morrison, Josh Frydenberg and Mathias Cormann have sent an unmistakable message to other businesses to back off.

The hard line also recognises that some industries will be permanently damaged by the coronavirus economic crisis, so throwing good taxpayer money after struggling businesses will not be a wise investment."

even if they help AA, they probably put their crony in which further mismanage the company...Global travel will not return to normal even when MCO is lifted. how can AirAsia keep flying if say the plane is not even 50% full. they will make losses on every flight
