Today, another 14 points drops in KLCI...

Based on Peter Lynch the cocktail party theory

Stage1: At the party, people are not talking about stocks. There is little to no interest to talk to an equity fund manager. The folks are inclined to talk about plague with a dentist than about stocks.

Stage2: People may talk about stocks but still think it's risky. They still talk more about plague than stocks.

Air Asia is between Stage 1 and 2 and has taken lowest hit and continue to close Green

Stage 3: Market is up 30%, people start asking a professional money manager like Lynch what stocks to buy. Most have now bought a stock or two.

Stage 4: People are crowded around Lynch but now they are telling Lynch what stocks to buy. Dentists are now offering stock tips. This stage is a good sign the market is near a top.

The Beneficiary from this Pandemic are the Mother and Wives of Gloves which is already in Stage 3 and 4..closed RED for two consecutives days..

Mother of all Gloves - Hartalega

Yesterday Hartalega dropped RM 0.90, I collected one batch
Today Hartalega dropped another RM 1.40, I collected two batches.

Wives of all Gloves - Top Gloves

Yesterday Top Gloves dropped RM 0.84, I collected one batch
Today Top Gloves dropped another RM 1.36, I collected one batch.

...exactly like what I did when AirAsia drop RM 0.70 recently...

Moral of the story is It doesn't really matter which stage you are in...Train yourself to approach the market with discipline and avoid decisions based on emotions..

AirAsia share price will plunge tomorrow? :)

KUALA LUMPUR (July 15): Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd's (MAHB) passenger traffic in June plunged by a staggering 92.1% year-on-year (y-o-y), its third consecutive month of experiencing such a massive drop.

The number of passenger traffic passing through MAHB's airports plummeted 98.8% in April and dropped 97.8% in May.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the airport operator said it recorded 954,000 passengers in Malaysia and at its Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SGIA) in Turkey combined in June. That figure was down 92.1% when compared with the 12.14 million recorded for June 2019.

Of the total passengers, international and domestic passenger movements during the month stood at 110,000 and 844,000 respectively, said MAHB.

On a last-12-month basis, MAHB's passenger traffic at its network of airports contracted 26.6% y-o-y with close to 100 million passenger movements, compared with 136.25 million previously.

The June 2020 figure, however, was a significant 300% improvement over the May 2020 headcount of 237,000.

"June traffic movements indicated signal of revival in air travel for both Malaysia and Istanbul SGIA market following the relaxation of travel restrictions announced earlier in the month," MAHB said.

It added that the day-to-day increase in passenger movements was driven by airlines' resumption of domestic flights in Malaysia, which corresponded with the relaxation of interstate travel ban from June 10.

While in Turkey, it said the domestic flights resumed operations after intercity travelling was allowed from June 1 and the international passenger movements were recorded on June 11, after a NOTAM (notice to airmen) lifted Turkey's airspace effective on the same date.

"Domestic average load factor in Malaysia recorded an increase of 20 percentage points towards the last nine days of June, registering 65.7% average load factor compared with the first nine days before interstate travel ban was lifted in June. Istanbul SGIA's daily domestic passenger movements gradually increased in June, with total domestic passengers reaching 24.3% of June 2019 movements with an average load factor at 67.7%," MAHB further said.

In terms of aircraft traffic, Malaysia recorded an 84.2% y-o-y decline to 11,850 planes from 74,840 planes. This is represented by 3,019 planes or 25.5% in KLIA, and 8,831 or 74.5% at the Malaysia Airports Sdn Bhd airports.

In Istanbul's SGIA, plane count plummeted 79.1% y-o-y to 4,237, from 20,251.

Moving forward, while Malaysia and Istanbul SGIA June traffic performances are encouraging, MAHB said post-lockdown demand for air travel is expected to be in stages with domestic sector leading the recovery.

For the resumption of international traffic, MAHB said it is expected to be gradual, mostly due to dependence on travel bubble arrangements and a slower easing of border restrictions as countries remain cautious.

Shares in MAHB closed 15 sen or 2.94% lower today at RM4.95, bringing it a market capitalisation of RM8.21 billion.

The stock has recovered some 22% from its recent low of RM4.07 on March 19, a day after the government imposed the movement control order to curb the spread of the virus.

However, the stock is still down 35% year to date.

Summing up...

Tony told CNBC the auditors gave "a very fair view" but reiterated that the airline is "well on the way" to raise the funds it needs to ensure its survival. He added that the funds could come in the form of a government loan, more equity issuance or debt.

The amount the company is looking to raise is "a moving target," he said, adding that he'll "be very comfortable with a billion" ringgit ($234.4 million) and "super, super comfortable with 2 billion ringgit ($468.9 million)."

In a nutshell...

Tony said AA needs RM3B to survive.
Latest news says AA intend to raise RM1B rights issue. Rumour say govt to rescue. I hope govt will take this opportunity to merge all the 3 Airlines into one Airlines..

So is it 1B or 3B or more, or less? Only time will tell.

Airasia has given close to RM10B in dividends since IPO. The company has been generous giving dividend. Fortunately, Tony did shared his winning as I too managed to enjoy the RM (0.90 + 0.12+0.40+0.12) dividend from this Airlines..I remember many were cheering those days..what a great Airlines AA was...So I recon buying back AA shares is my way of giving back.

One thing almost certain AA won't disappear, at most the stock price will find a new equilibrium. Today we can see how the equilibrium are being managed with an average 55 million shares traded over the last 4 weeks.

Moral of the story is everything in the market repeats, so stop worrying about the missed opportunities. Once the operator has collected enough they definitely will push up the price and likewise vice versa as we have seen in the Gloves sectors over the last two days. I believe this may continue this week until they secure enough position to push up to the next level

Stay Invested..

In a memo to employees released on Wednesday, American said the notices are tied to the overstaffing it expects in October when U.S. government payroll assistance expires. American, with more than 130,000 employees in 2019, had already warned that furloughs would be hard to avoid as pandemic-hit revenue remains more sluggish than the airline had hoped.

CHICAGO: American Airlines said on Wednesday it is sending 25,000 notices of potential furloughs to frontline workers and warned that demand for air travel is slowing again as COVID-19 cases increase and states re-establish quarantine restrictions.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act requires companies to provide 60 days' notice of potential layoffs or furloughs.

Among different work groups, warnings are being sent to 2,500 pilots or about 18% of the total, nearly 10,000 flight attendants or 37% of the total, and 3,200 mechanics or 22% of the total.

Overall, American expects to be overstaffed by about 20,000 in the fall, but hopes to reduce the actual number of furloughs through enhanced leave and early-departure programs it has rolled out alongside unions, Chief Executive Doug Parker and President Robert Isom said in the memo.

Delta Air Lines Inc said this week it believed it could avoid furloughs in the fall after about 17,000 employees signed up for early-departure deals. [nL3N2EM2PM]

By encouraging more senior workers to leave, U.S. airlines could trim their labor costs - their main expense - during the recovery, giving them more pricing power. Airline union contracts require airlines to furlough junior workers first.

United Airlines has sent 36,000 furlough notices, representing about 45% of workers, and Southwest Airlines has also warned that job losses will be hard to avoid.

After boosting summer flying following some signs of pent-up leisure demand in May and June, some airlines are now scaling back their schedules due to a surge in COVID-19 cases across the country. [nL2N2EK0XF]

The U.S. outbreak has prompted several countries to impose travel restrictions on Americans. The European Union excluded the United States from its "safe" travel list. [nL8N2E72LH]

Both Canada and Mexico want to extend the ban on non-essential travel at U.S. borders. [nS0N2DV04U]

Even within the United States, Americans from 22 states are required to self-quarantine for 14 days if they enter New York or New Jersey, two states that have managed to curb infections. - Reuters

Sectors such as tourism and aviation would continue to face challenging prospects as foreign tourists are still barred from entering the country.

“I think the impact will be selective. Those industries who have benefitted from the gradual reopening of the economy should do well and in the process, they would need more manpower to cater for the higher demand, ” he said.
