But, as long as TNB giving good dividend, then it is ok

Posted by lionel messi > Aug 3, 2021 4:10 PM | Report Abuse

Yes, the div trap argument is totally valid but it also depends on your cost and if the company can continue to consistently pay high div. At 9.67 and a div yield of more than 8%, I don't think the trap works anymore. Happy and savvy investing. Cheers.

@risingstar21 - You are right. It depends on your cost, those who bought before Nov 2013, and still holding it, would have enjoyed good dividends, but capital appreciation as of today almost back to purchased price. From now on no one knows.
Being new to investing. Learning a bit. Discussions are good. some well experienced investors here. Cheers.

BUYING TENAGA FOR its: 1) the biggest utilities giant supplying electricity in the county
2) the company is getting more and more into renewable energy play.
3) would be the largest renewable energy player in Malaysia.
4) good and growing dividend pay (excluding the dividend given during pandemic period)
5) stable blue chip stock that is resillende.
6) invested heavily in the renewable energy sector in other country such as the UK (solar & wind), Turkey ( gas, wind, hydro), Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Pakistan and India (coal, gas & solar plants).

MALAYSIAN VERSION OF TESLA....TP RM10.5 END OF THIS YEAR, THEN AFTER COVID GETTING BETTER TP RM11. AND IF POLITICAL ISSUE IS RESOLVED AND TNB INCREASED THEIR INVESTMENT MORE INTO RE IT WILL BE TP RM15 IN 2025

Covid cases should be peaking this week and continue to drop after this week. Delta variant peak is around 5 weeks seen in india and UK. With the aggressive vaccination drive, 70% 2 dose rate for herd immunity will be achieve in mid sept. Now lets hope for a solution for a good transition on the political impasse. The market just need some good news and all good recovery stocks with strong fundamentals will benefit. Good luck guys.

Current price is attractive. I will buy more if I have surplus funds - QR coming out in 3 weeks time and I think there will be some good dividend to be announced then,

personally, I think the dividend will remain around RM0.20 like previous years. Also the good news include:

1. postponement of the LHDN v Tenaga on Tax issues after dividend is good,

2. additionally i think market is expecting more good news in the very near future as they unveil their plans for ESG roadmap leading to the reduction of carbon footprint via coal power generation and investment into solar energy in 2H, 2021,

3. diversification of investment into the EV market, Broadband, diversification,

4. it's damn cheap now, DY is high.

Why need to worry about the drop? This is a monopoly counter. Confirm earn money one, just sit and collect dividend every year. Any price below RM10 is good for collection,
Current price is a real bargain

Those days central bank advisor contributed multi billion losses for the country, then appointed as mof. Yesterday another genius was appointed as even higher ranking status advisor, nonetheless believe he is capable of contributing positively to the nation and indirectly to the market.

High yield tnb, est remains relatively strong supported by genius politicians.

Tenaga report is due at the end of the month, then we can judge if EPF has been selling because its been given information the rest of us don't get. I'm sure that's not the case, we all know how honest the Govt is in its share market dealings.

Hi TreeTop. I suspect it will be at least same as last interim of 22 sen. But likely to be higher due to the need to do national service as most shareholders are financially stressed and also div bar set so high by Bursa at 24 sen. Cannot be seen as lower than Bursa's.

Posted by mokluhanj21 > 2021-08-09 12:14 | Report Abuse

EPF been selling because of all frul i this i that i citra citrox..
which counter can take the hit from huge liquidation? not a lot. TNB sure one of them...

guess how much EPF had to sell their investments? not 1 or 2 billion ya darling.
hundred of bilyonz.

so, now, when shark is kena paksa by Biggest Dinosor, bilis wanna run or wanna sapu? think think think......... hehehe :P

-----
In total, the total outflow due to Covid-19-related assistance offered by the EPF had resulted in an outflow of RM86.2 billion as at Aug 4.

These programmes included employees’ contribution rate reduction between April 2020 and December 2021 (RM6.2 billion), i-Lestari (RM20.8 billion), e-CAP deferment of employers’ contributions (RM200 million), i-Sinar (RM56.7 billion) and i-Citra (RM2.3 billion).

The EPF expects the total estimated outflow following these programmes to amount to RM117 billion.

More economic activities allowed in states under Phases 1 and 2 of NRP where half of adults fully vaccinated from Aug 16 — PM

(theedgemarkets.com / August 15, 2021 12:45 pm +08)

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 15): Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today announced the government has agreed to allow 11 more economic activities to be reopened in states and federal territories under the Phase 1 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP), provided that 50% of the adult population have been fully vaccinated.

Muhyiddin also announced that the government has agreed to allow public recreational parks for states and federal territories in Phase 1 to be opened for recreational activities.

However, only individual activities such as jogging, cycling and exercise are allowed, in line with the sports and leisure standard operating procedures in Phase 1.

"This decision is very important for people to get more time to be out in the open and have a better ventilation system than just being confined at home. So, I really hope that this will not be abused," he added.

Meanwhile, states in Phase 2 are Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, and Sabah.
