Frankly, its easy to advice people to buy on undervalue stock and entry level. But its difficult to advice on people when to take profit, the exit level. All depend on each individual risk profile.

Share buybacks is a good capital allocation strategy. Long term investors will be rewarded. US companies like Teledyne and Capital Cities which have use share buybacks strategy have rewarded shareholders very well in the past.

Must known what its company intention to share buyback

Share buybacks = cancellation, reduce total number of share (YTLP)
Share buybacks = distribute back as share dividend (YTL, symlife)
Share buybacks = Sell back to open market and reap profit (Glomac)

First of all, why there was nationwide electricity breakdown ?? Incompetence of TNB never mention here...Why after so many year, and until IPP with concession 21year is due to expire in just another 2 year, only these TNB reveal it ??

If without nationwide electricity breakdown, i don't think Gov have idea to build IPP, instead could just relying on TNB alone. These is cause and event....

Very good point. Teledyne and Capital Cities basically cancel shares and reduce no. of shares outstanding. These companies bought between 40-50% of shares outstanding in the 80s. Good for earnings per share. i think share buybacks is a very good allocation strategy. Other capital allocation strategies like investing in existing business, acquisitions, pay back debts and pay dividends. i reckon if share buybacks is done properly, it will reward shareholders.

Share buybacks = cancellation, reduce total number of share (YTLP)
- Reduce total number of share, increase EPS, fairness to all shareholder

Share buybacks = distribute back as share dividend (YTL, symlife)
- Major shareholder is main beneficial, increase stake and further strengthen control over the company

Share buybacks = Sell back to open market and reap profit (Glomac)
- Realize one off, non recurring profit.

Francis Yeoh is smart investor, he won't spent money to buyback and cancel share later for no reason. Just patiently wait till end of these year for the outcome.

just a wild guess....
ytlp has a par value of 50cent.
after ytlp sbb and shares cancelled exercise.
ytlp decide to cancel 40c par value as shares distribution back to shareholders just to make same par value as ytl at 10c.
indirectly it exploded the share issued back to where it used to be.
then only the privatisation come into place.

can this scenario happen....!?

Thts y i said ytlp getting hard to collect now. This stock ll move very fast right now provided ytlp keep on buy back. If no mistake there are another party accumulating as well.

Possible, but YTL privatize YTL cement also via share swap despite YTL cement have par value RM 1.00. Other scenario could be combination of selective capital repayment + share swap.

Hng, simple theory im using. Because those scare and not greedy has edi sold their holding. And look at the volume and price. Volume getting less as price keep moving on. This means what? Those still left now are greedy or looking for long term.from the percentage of daily bought buy ytlp failed to get more. This means what? There are other party accumulating as well. I hv to look n observe longer to confirm this

" His point is, those shares worth hundreds mils. Bought back using hundreds mill and cancelled it means burnt hundreds mils. If those money were used to pay as dividend, he will get...." But he missed an long term point, EPS in the future has increased, the ability to pay higher dividend and shareholders holding(%) has increased as well. This is individual view, some like dividend some like long term/future. Depends. But i love buy back and cancel rather than redistributing back.

Warrant are assure by deed and poll stated by law and guided by various formula adjustment to exercise price according to protect and safeguard warrant holder interest. Corporate exercise like share dividend/new warrant issue/par value reduction/capital repayment of underlying share, all will lead to adjustment in exercise price. Last few year back, YTLP declare share dividend to shareholder, the exercise price adjust downward by 4sen from initial RM 1.25 to current RM 1,21.

this show that the buy back continue and still in force. reaching RM2 is just a matter of time. :)
