Indeed unsung heroes, exploited by huge co-operations who secure contracts via politicians. Its dirty and unjust. Treat the work horses with fairness and they will work hard for you. MOH needs to do something about this.
The MCO has revealed who are the truly important workers of society, without which society cannot function.
Its not the CEOs, investment bankers, con-sultans, middlemen, and salesmen who are paid big salaries, commissions, and bonuses and attend gala dinners to congratulate one another.
Its the little people who earn a pittance and rarely get any respect. The cleaners, delivery riders, truck drivers, laborers, farmers.
These are the ones we rely on to keep society functioning.
This is the woe suffered by the lower income group workers. Exhausting work demand and expectation by Employers but unjustifiable salary.
It is unimaginable why cleaning maintenance is farmed out to contractors, when it could have been easily absorbed by the government, especially if it is not a private hospital. It is not surprising it happened during Mahathir's 1st term of Office, under the privatization scheme.
Contractors are businessmen/women, whose sole intention is to make big money, by tightening on expenses and salaries. Contract Workers are also deprived of medical and hospitalization benefits.
Being an Contract Employee also means one can be mercilessly terminated for trivial reasons, without going through the grievance determination process. A disadvantage to contract workers.
This lot of Contract Employees must be protected under a national union, MTUC must jump into action to help Contract Workers in all sectors.
It has been recognized that restricting employees’ speech goes deeper and relates to the continuing piratisation or privatization in the name of the corporatisation of public delivery systems in Malaysia. Gag orders and representatives who come across like spin doctors waging a political campaign are the product of corporate health care systems focused on their “brand,” outselling the “competition” and making as much money as possible through the web of cronyism. Edgenta UEMS is built on such systems. They are not coming from any background of organised or scientific knowledge in the hospital maintenance other than their expertise in the outbidding other crony companies in the public hospitals. In layman language, they knew someone’s spouse in the decision making authority to win the massive publicly funded projects.
PSM shouldn’t work in isolation in organizing the workers in the style of MTUC, CUEPACS or even NUPW. We are in the era of publicly funded social welfare system with well supported civil societies in the respective field. PSM must tap into welfare Payment systems to assist the low income earning workers if they lose the job in the event of organizing the labour. We must tap into the funds available with the ministries to run cooperative societies. The civil societies can do this with the assistance of retirees of the healthcare industry to bid the public-funded cleaning contracts in the sector. The collaborative system can tap into HRDF to train its members to qualify for the corporate type contracts to empower the low income earning population socially and economically. PSM must be the political voice in turning the public procurement system for the benefit of the marginalized communities of our beloved land.
The Master who embraced privatization for one reason--corruption. Mahathir knows this.
The contract system works like this. The government gives the cleaning contract to a company-you know who--paying out millions annually. The company then sublets to others for a sum. So in the third or forth level the workers are engaged and paid the basic minimum. And the first ,second third or whatever level earn a huge sum for doing nothing while the real workers toil and suffer with basic salary. How nice Mahathir but you failed to enforce a higher wage for health workers because you didn't care --only the man who gets the contract matters. God willing you survived with that evilness.
As for Rita it is people like you that make the changes for better. You know who is the evil and who the good one is.
This is how "kerajaan" treats its rakyat....We have money to build tall buildings, highways,MRT and so on but there still live so many who struggle to survive....Billions go missing when so many suffer in silence without sufficient income...

MP Claims Govt Sponsored Food Packs For The Poor Worth RM100 Contained Only RM35 Of Groceries
In a bid to help those who lack the necessary finances to purchase groceries and food during the Movement Control Order period, the Malaysian government has taken upon the duty to distribute food packs to those who fall under the B40 category recently.
Each was said to contain over RM100 worth of groceries that included basic essentials such as rice and cooking oil.
However, despite having sent in an application for 950 food packs that were supposed to have arrived on 8th April 2020, the local welfare office only received the food packs on Monday (20th April 2020). If that wasn’t already bad enough in terms of delay, Mr Cha found out that instead of the 950 packs of food he requested, he only received 150.
And this is after the Ministry told him that his region would receive 1,000 food packs, instead of 950, in an updated list.
What makes this all the more strange is the fact that when he took apart one of the food packs to inspect the items, the total retail price of all the items included in the food pack came to only RM35.
Consisting of seven items, namely 5kg rice, 1kg white sugar, 1kg cooking oil, biscuits, rice vermicelli noodles, coffee powder, and tea, the grocery items did not reach anywhere close to the RM100 these food packs were said to be worth.
While he has already been working on distributing these 150 food packs to his constituents, Mr Cha has requested that The Ministry of Women, Family and Community be transparent in their handling of the food packs.
“The ministry should investigate and explain to the public why there are discrepancies between the food distributed to the B40 group in its constituency and the guidelines distributed earlier, and the authorities should also disclose the cost of purchasing materials and the quantities that were distributed.” he said.
So, such a blatant case of cheating from the underprivileged in the case of Rasah! These people really need the aid badly yet they are shortchanged by the people involved in preparing the aid packets. Yes, Rina Harun you may not be involved directly but the buck stops with you. I am sure Rasah is not the only case - get to the bottom of the issue and make sure the aid recipients get what they are supposed to get!!
Ie divided by 0.333 to gross up For example the Rasah pack of RM 34.75 should be 34.75 /0.333 ie RM 104.35 The missing value is RM 69.60 This is cost of BELAKANG
Hi guys,Can MACC step in to see who is lying MP for Rasah & his team or the minister/JKM officials. This is a serious allegation money from/for the rakyat is stolen. Stealing from the poor rakyat is a big sin unlike one who has put his/her hand in 1-MDB or SRC, KWAP etc, etc and the list is endless.
Well, Balance is commission -thats the DNA even Covid 19 cannot change that ingrained corruption -the world is undergoing a surreal time but these guys its corruption as usual- shame.
Rina ? Will the MRegime ever change when even the coffers are almost empty. May be only death by covid19. Defacto PM Mahathir Langkawi untouched by scam . Will The Star, Sinar, Sin chew etc report this scam ?
This BN style backdoor gomen, if they dont loot now, when do you think they will,, lol... As usual, every opportunity they can under cut, you will surely see they will do it... With bunch of Mercedez Pak Lebai of PAS and DUMNO around, sure they will dry up the national coffer soon..
With ministers believing themselves beyond the restrictions of MCO, daughters of political leaders snarling arrogantly at those who would question them, and police officers discovering that the virus attack is a god-sent opportunity to rape, we see the contemptible side of Malaysians during a time of crisis. Almost to compensate for the countless others who slog day and night at personal risk to themselves to keep the country safe.
Using just Rasah as an example, the swindle would be more than the already obscene amount siphoned off, which seems a simple RM100 – RM35, that is, RM65 per packet. It must be remembered that the contents of the aid packages running into the thousands would have been purchased in bulk with discounts given by the supplier. Thus an aid-bag with a price tag of RM35 may actually cost about only RM30. And we thus encounter the new norm – from RM100 for the poor, steal RM70. This does not even include other features of ingenuity like items past their use-by dates and 5kgs mysteriously becoming 3kgs.
The first official reaction to the accusations would be that these Opposition MPs have a secret agenda and are bent on presenting the government in bad light when it is dedicated and sincere in its efforts. It is almost certain that there would be no follow-up action, no investigation, no nothing. That is because if we dig deep enough, we will find that those responsible for a scam of this magnitude would be much higher in the pecking order, old wine in old bottles.
That loud noise you just heard was PAS, UMNO, and Bersatu leaders keeping their silence.
