There were three levels of prices palm oil traded from past history

1. Rm800 to Rm1800 for those early years of 1970 till 2008

2. In year 2008 when subprime caused massive QE or money printing Palm oil jumped to the next level of Rm1800 to Rm4,000

that was when Remisier King Peter Lim of Spore turned into a Palm oil Billionaire when he sold Wilmar in year 2010 for $1.5 BILLIONS (His original investment was $10 Millions)

Of course Cpo at Rm8000 was not sustainable as it was a sudden upthrust due to news of Indon palm oil export ban

and then the pendulum swung back to another extreme near Rm3500 when ban was lifted

that created a fear that palm oil might be "glove 2"

no no no

Palm oil cannot and will never be "glove 2" for these reasons

Answer :

Gloves made Billionaires due to Corona virus

It awakened China and it became a Fierce competitor

if China could set up a 1000 bed hospital in just 10 days it could set up new glove factories in just 4 to 5 months and start churning out gloves by the trillions leading to total glut and price under cutting

What China can do with Gloves China could not do with palm oil

It takes little space to start glove factories and they could be set up vertically anywhere. And can be fully automated 24 hours day and night

For palm oil you need vast tracts of cheap farm lands like in Borneo which China does not have

plus the TIME FACTOR

It takes up to 9 - 10 years to see success in new palm oil ventures according to experts in Tsh/Inno interviews

as such there is no real threat till year 2030 if any

plus the need for sunshine and abundant rain

all these are barriers to entry

palm oil on the other hand is now helped by high competing vege oil prices world wide

Soybean oil decimated by drought in Europe last July and last year drought in South America

as of now Soyoil is Usd1600 a ton while palm oil only Usd1,000 a ton

Soyoil is selling at Usd600 (Rm2400 more) premium to palm oil

so palm oil will not fall much lower but play catch up with soyoil soon

for gloves

Malaysia
1000 pieces = Usd24.00

China
1000 pieces. undercut at Usd22.00

and going lower and lower in the killing fields

last year in China canola crop was wiped out by drought leading to very high new record for both canola, rapeseed oil

now at usd800 and above last record of Usd600

Same goes for sunflower oil of Ukraine

war impacted last year store in silos

this year got war decimating and limiting planting and harvest

so sunflower oil spiked the highest

With competing vege oil selling at 50% to 100% from all time world record it is very hard to see palm oil can fall below it's past record of Rm4000

plus you must know ringgit also gone down against USD, Sing Dollar and even the Indon Rupiah up against palm oil

making Malaysia super cheap and super competitive in world markets

might see little razor thin profits or none

now prepare to see Npl surface from Non payment by SMEs (70% closed during Mco lock down with loan moratorium swept under the carpet . Top guns of Cimb bank, Rhb bank and Maybank resigned

so take profits from banks and buy palm oil

Tsh only listed 10 palm oil assets in Top 30 of latest Annual reports

go back to year 2009 Annual report and you will see lots more assets listed and reported

from Rm731.09 millions Bulugan land sale

Rm57 millions set aside for infrar works of plantation

Rm55 millions for planting new Palm oil or replanting old trees

so that is a Rm112 Millions for Plantation infrar and planting expansion

it does not say buy lands as Tsh still got lots and lots of palm oil lands

With palm oil planting moratorium by both Malaysia and Indonesia forbidding conversion of new palm oil from forest since year 2018 for 4 years there was no additional supply of new palm oil

even Klk cannot expand by new greenfield so it has to buy brownfield by taking over ijmplant at premium prices of Rm3.10(from Rm2.20)

infant food formula by nestle, dumex, S26, And all others got palmic or palmitic acid

palmic acid is found in mother's breast milk

so infant food formula has 25% palmic acids

0f all vege oil palm oil has the highest palmic acid content at 44%

soybean oil has only 11% palmic acid

palm oil only need 1/7 of land compared to soybean to produce 44% palmic acid while Soyoil only got 11% palmic acid

so falm oil has 4 (x) times more palmic acid than soyoil
