@sheldon, APOLLO is a stock to buy when it is cheap / oversold, and sell when it is expensive / overbought. I have made small sells on strength, to lower my Average Cost down to 2.93, where if future yearly dividend = 25 sen, my Dividend Yield on cost is 8.5%. 25 sen is conservative, 35 sen more realistic giving yield on cost of 11.9%. Over the next 3-5 years, I am actually looking forward for the stock price to fall back down so that I can buy back cheaply again. For now, it's just enjoying the ride up.

I wrote about Apollo when it was at RM4.08 back in April-2023, today already RM5.1

25% in 7 months, not bad!

Good show. Perhaps special dividend on the way with the extra ordinary gain from building/land disposable. Or bonus issue in the pipeline.

Let’s wait for coming Monday announcement. Hope goods news. Special dividend or bonus issue or other favorable news. They have more than RM130k cash in hand and zero borrowing.

It's insightful to consider the potential effects of global energy cost increases on Malaysia's consumer products industry, especially with subsidies playing a role. I'm keen to see how companies like OFI and HupSeng navigate these challenges in their upcoming reports. The comparison of energy costs in Asia adds an interesting dimension to the discussion. Let's keep an eye on how it unfolds!

Apollo Food, likely a takeover target, to be suspended on Monday

Agreed with King3K. The company with no borrowing and more than RM130M cash /deposits and annual decent dividend …… Apollo is undervalued.
Let’s wait for the announcement.

My instincts tell me good news but never rely on a man's intuition.

Any guesses what the news will be?

Offer RM5.80 only

hhhiii123

Sound like bad news? Because the offer will only made the main shh not minority

ubudayah888

hhhiiii123 i think you read it wrong. Every minority shareholder is entitled to the RM5.80 offer.. "Scoop Capital is obliged to and has extended an unconditional mandatory takeover offer to acquire all the remaining 48.49% stake in Apollo at RM5.80 per share" https://theedgemalaysia.com/node/694419

Looks like more to come, this is beginning

Is 5.80 cheap, right price or expensive? Think about the following ...

1) FX RATE - The offerors are Singaporeans. The SGD/MYR exchange rate has increased over the years to 3.5273 (Today BNM FX site). It's peanuts for the investors who have deep pockets.

2) INFLATION - The world including Malaysia has been subject to high inflation over the years, accelerated over the recent months. I checked my spreadsheet which indicated that I've sold Apollo shares at 6.25 a piece back in March 2016. This international business with only 80m shares should be worth a lot more today (Shares of companies are not monetary claims but instead a claim on the business model of generating revenue as well net assets including real estate.

Based on the above it can be irrefutably concluded that the price is too low

"... it intends to maintain the listing status of Apollo on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia." Meaning that Apollo has the possibility of getting privatized in the future...?

AlphaAdventurer - "... it intends to maintain the listing status of Apollo on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia." Meaning that Apollo has the possibility of getting privatized in the future...?

I think the implication is that the new owner will pay 5.80 per share (as compelled by law) but if nobody wants to sell, it'll just continue business as a listed co. If however everyone sells their shares to the new owner then it will need some time to redistribute and attain the public spread as required for listing.

So perhaps 5.80 is take it or leave it as they are not enthusiastic to swallow more.

wkl1063

any sifu can enlighten, since its mandatory to take up all share at RM5.80, why now still have sell queuing for 5.73 - 5.99? isnt should be swallow up unconditionally?

wkl1063

I mean still have selling queue of 5.73 - 5.79 unmatch

Chart can tell tomorrow's news today,
my guru said.

News today, Apollo has a new owner at 5.80:

[2023-12-19 3:42 AM]
I made good money every cycle on
NEW-OWNER-PLAY

the new owner of APOLLO, an A1 stock,
spent abt the BIG $250 million at 5.80 a share to take over.
n he must do the MGO at 5.80.
he wants it to be the PLC, as the MMM, money making machine.,.

he n team must hoot.9.e to rocket it up to 50-100% X 5.80 on MGO day, my wild guess. mkt forces will help him, JUST DO IT.,.

DividendGuy67

Price didn't go higher than RM5.80 yet, because some people wants the monies now and so, are willing to sell first at below RM5.80, instead of waiting for RM5.80 later.

My guess is the Singapore buyers are looking at higher earnings yields offshore (Malaysia), and diversify by currency too. Also possible for future dividends to be increased, due to high net cash and not efficient capital wise. Current dividends 25-35 sen is likely to be enhanced (but speculative) or maybe special dividend after take-over.

Anyway, I had an extremely lovely ride - not inside my Top 3 largest wins - but still a very decent win having bought at 3.xx, excluding dividends and realized gains. The easy gains have already been had, now going forward, it's going to be harder.

I like Apollo for its conservative but very safe strategy. Always without debt and cash rich, giving good dividends to shareholders. A good example of a well managed Chinaman company . Hope new management can maintain the status quo and not mismanage.

chickenriceseller , what is the correlation between this shoplifter many years ago with Apollo ? 🙄

Nighelanghelo

@wkl1063 i think those queuing to buy are those doing arbitrage, not the offerors.
and mandatory means offeror must make offer, not must buy all the shares in the market, haha...

I'm selling half my holdings. Apollo may benefit Scoop, but benefit of Scoop to Apollo, if any, may take several years to realize. The brothers Liang are reported selling because advancing in age and lack of a clear succession plan.

sheldon

If Apollo is the only listed vehicle in Scoop's business, then it would serve the owner's interest to see that the share price rises. On the other hand, as part of a group companies for which they have no full interest, I hope they'll not strip this company.

Anyone thinks that the share price will go higher after the offer ends?

APOLLO
this is the v 1st time, am seeing the stock price is abt the MGO price
in msian sejarah.
n so none substantial s/holders r selling on the mkt to get their money now than to sign the MGO form ex on Jan 29th n await.
Risk is the new owner finally has > 90% of this stock = the condition to be delisted.

Price Action Theory, always can help us all.
Watch for a special day of grand BO, break out to the new blue sky.

I LOVE THIS 3RD WAY ON KLSE:

IN GWS, WHAT HAD HAPPENED WILL HAPPEN AGAIN
these were words of wisdom of Livermore Theory.

WHERE'S THE BIG MONEY IN STOCKS??

Jim Rogers - "Figure out the money and you’ll figure out what’s going on."
Jim Rogers is asking us, where is the big money in charts n to find them ourselves.

yes, where's the big money picture?

There r 4 ways to big money in stocks:

NEW.OWNER.PLAY
+ is the 3rd best way to win in stocks on KLSE.
+ n usually it gives the BIGGEST money if the new owners r the super greedy type!
+ greedy means, TP, target price could fly multi baggers to 3X to even 10X like hextech did 2 yrs ago.
+ stock as PLC, is the fastest route for them to be the newly minted billionaires!

APOLLO
The New.Owner controls 78.42% i.e. 62,736,000 shares.
It has to sell down to < 75% i.e. sell 2,736,000 shares to comply with public spread as a PLC.
Or going thru some smart corporate plans.
after this MGO, it can choose to taichow anytime with no holds barred.

let's watch for the price action.

spent big money of $363 million to take over a PLC.
Is the new.owner the greatest fool in stock?

So good oh.
Taking over at RM 5.8
And share price is not trading at 5.8 after Jan2024. Why so? What's the story and plan behind? If so, buying at below 5.8 is good bargain. Ya. Dunno y he wants to do that. And, Who are those sellers below 5.8?
