Globetronics Technology Bhd develops and manufactures integrated circuits, light-emitting diode components, encoders and sensors, quartz crystal products, timing devices, and related products. Sensors are the leading revenue contributor for the company. Globetronics builds its sensors and encoders for a variety of automation and industrial applications. Sales volume is also significantly dependent on revenue generated from quartz crystal and timing devices. These devices are used in a multitude of electronic products, such as mobile devices, GPS, and PCs. Sales are primarily in Asian markets, with the United States accounting for a significant share.

Nevertheless, all the OSAT companies in Malaysia will benefit gao gao from this China-US tech war. More and more companies will approach our local players for order diversifying and eventually making our local champions to become more prosperous. I guess this is the new theme with almost no downside but huge upside that a contrarian investors can safely bet on. Remember, human will perform the best when they are in pressure.

Chicken heart former major holder NKC bought 3-4 lot per transaction continuously for the last few yrs then DUMP ALL suddenly to APB...got confidence meh? the hapless latter is now suffering a 40% paper loss!

Despite this, the stock closed at RM1.40 on April 9, surpassing analysts' 12-month median target price of RM1.24. Maybank Investment Bank Bhd, which has assigned a "sell" rating to Globetronics with a target price of RM1.05, expresses concerns about the stock being overvalued. New business will take time to materialize. And she highlighted that it can take a maximum of 2 years to happen. Many things can happen in 2 years, good or bad. Uncertainties are there.

CEO Heng Charng Yee,
Heng has been with the group since 2013, starting out as a quality and strategic business manager at subsidiary Globetronics Manufacturing Sdn Bhd. She was appointed CEO in July 2022, succeeding her father Datuk Heng Huck Lee, who retired after serving as CEO since January 2008.
She is also the group’s non-independent executive director. Prior to her appointment as group CEO, she served as the group’s chief operating officer since January 2021.
Early this year, Heng exercised her employee stock options and acquired 829,700 shares before selling one million shares in Globetronics on Feb 7, leaving her with just 32 shares in the company.
According to Globetronics’ 2022 annual report, she had 170,332 shares or direct interest of 0.03% in the company as at March 24, 2023.

Q1 2024 revenue is at more than 20-year low going back more than 20 years ago.
Q1 net profit is also at more than 20-year low, going back to 2002.

They have mentioned multiple times in their quarterly report that they are engaging with new customers to get new orders. I trust what they said because most of the penang tech companies are very accountable and honest. Gtronic is trying hard to position themselves to benefit from the upcoming semiconductor uptrend. The only downside that I can see now is the new management. We need time to understand what's their thinking and whether or not they can be trusted to turnaround the business.
