This Bill Ch'ng was convicted with a conspiracy to defraud Ming Fai Holdings Ltd, a company listed in HK, of HK$127 million and sentenced to 5 years jail.

True it was 2001, and Bill Ch'ng served 5 years jail in HK. That shows the integrity of him and how he is going to manage this company. Ever wonder where the RM 100m Amanah Raya invested and the whereabouts of this money?

Bill C.P.Ch'ng definately will not allow MPCORP to be classified as PN17 company.He has supports from few commercial banks to clear his debts

If you said he has the support of few commercial banks, why pay 14% pa interest from 'quasi-ah long" the wife? This is not a Sdn. Bhd. lah

This stock started to drift lower after the artcle Troubles at MPCorp came out at around 3pm. That mean still lot of investors are unaware of the problems in the company

CEO Charged by SC

Just weeks after resigning, Ch’ng Chong Poh, former chief executive officer of Malaysia Pacific Corporation (MP Corp), is claiming trial to 58 insider trading charges brought against him by the Securities Commission (SC) today.

In a statement, SC said Ch’ng bought the MP Corp shares ahead of the property developer entering a joint venture project with Oriental Pearl City Properties Sdn Bhd to undertake and manage several projects in the Iskandar Development Region, Johor.

The offences allegedly took place between May 14, 2008 and Aug 20, 2008.

Oriental Pearl City Properties is a wholly-owned subsidiary of MP Corp and Amanahraya Development Sdn Bhd, which is in turn a wholly owned subsidiary of Amanah Raya Berhad.

All 58 charges were for offences under Section 188(2) of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007, which states that “(a)n insider shall not, whether as principal or agent, in respect of any securities to which information in subsection (1) relates–

(a) acquire or dispose of, or enter into an agreement for or with a view to the acquisition or disposal of such securities; or

(b) procure, directly or indirectly, an acquisition or disposal of, or the entering into an agreement for or with a view to the acquisition or disposal of such securities.”

Seemingly LKH is quite a gentleman, I don't think he is of Bill Ch'ng's species. More so he has the money from Sunrise disposal, don't see the reason he is out to cheat this company. Perhaps he failed in his business acumen that led to the big loss of writing off 85 sen to a ringgit and having to called a right issues last year

That is very true, selective prosecution. I know of one Tan Sri involved in insider's trading, caught red handed with recommendation to charge but SC cannot get consent from AG Chambers. Long live MalaysiaBoleh!
