Both local institutional funds and foreign funds are buying into YTL Power now not because of the high TPs given by local analysts, but because of its improving earnings outlook.

Before data centre segmental earnings kick in, the traditional utility businesses (Wessex Waters, PowerSeraya, Jawa Power, Jordan Power, Ranhill Utilities, 5G Yes, UK Brabazon property etc.) are providing solid earnings of over RM3.2 billion net profit (or EPS of 40 sen) a year to YTL Power.

At current share prices, YTL Power is trading at PER of just 9x, a steal for a large cap, much cheaper than other utility companies in Bursa with over 20x PER.

Come 2025, both colocation and AI data centre divisions will start contributing meaningful earnings to YTL Power. Earnings are expected to improve by at least 25% in FY2026 to break RM4.2 billion or EPS of 50 sen. Forward PER is going to fall below 8x. That's a fact funds cannot ignore.

FYI, latest Maybank fund flows report shows that foreign funds net sold a whopping RM588 million worth of Tenaga shares in the month of November 2024. They are seen shifting back to YTL Power in early December trades.

When the share price of YTLP was at 2.83, it was the best buy opportunity.
I also dared not buy when the share price was below 3.00.
When the share price dropped, many naysayers said it would drop to 2.50, below 2.00 and below 1.00.
This kind of message really spreads fear among investors. 
I am also affected and I cannot sleep well when the share price is below 3.00.

Luckily, I bought a lorry load at 3.00.
The portfolio showed a big loss when the share price was at 2.83.

Looking at the technical chart, I believe the Golden Cross formation will happen in the next 2 days.
My Golden Cross formation is defined as the 20-day EMA cuts above 70-day SMA.
The Golden Cross will be formed around 3.48.

I believe the worst is over for YTLP.
The uptrend will start after Golden Cross formation.

A Well, all depends on you and the public confidence in the company. I think there is enough research done on our company and the fundamentals. People are beginning to be more aware. As you know our company has the lowest PE of all the top 20 companies. We are in single digits. All the other companies are in double digits, the high twenties or low twenties, whatever you call that. So we have a long way to go.

It is a known fact that YTL Power is the cheapest big cap in Bursa with PER of just 9x, falling below 8x come FY2026.

But the indicated foreign shareholding level seems too high to me, it is not consistent with the fund flows reports presented by Maybank IB every month.

I believe the figures given at the AGM are more accurate than the ones given by the investment banks.
I asked specifically and they replied directly. They probably have backroom people including the secretary/registrar to provide the latest figures.
I have noticed errors made by the investment banks before. At times their total buy sell by foreign funds, local institutions and retail does not add up.
Furthermore past few days the foreign funds net buy figures were not available. Maybe sometime they work, sometime they don't.
So like it or not, foreign funds are a major player determining the direction of the share price at a point in time
But for us it is better we go by the fundamentals. as hinted.

YTLP MD Dato’ Seri Yeoh Seok Hong in yesterday AGM said he is going to meet Minister of Communications to address their concerns afternoon. YTL Group also donated RM 5m to flood relief fund set up by the government to provide aids to flood victims across the nation.
This shows that YTL Group is very much keen to maintain good relationship with govt, besides participating in nation building and helping the society.
