Sorry Boss,
The DY=(6.08*90%+3.14)/160=5.4%,
as 3.14 sen is non-taxable / tax exempt.

rm8

Ignoring adjustments for dividend payments, Maybank hasn't traded below RM8 for over a year.

this year is recession year
dun expect will be bounced back in this few mths

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2023-02-10 10:26 | Report Abuse

Maybank has held up well over the past few days. While a number of other banks have dropped by 6 to 8%, Maybank has dropped by only around 2%. A final dividend of not less than 30 sen a share would be announced soon and it should rise back to RM8.80 again.

Maybank very safe investment mah!

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2023-02-11 16:07 | Report Abuse

Ya, mate. So safe that I am considering withdrawing another 10% of my EPF savings to invest in Maybank and RHB bank. With EPF, you won't have capital gains but with Maybank/RHB bank, this is possible. A small realized capital gain of 3 to 5% per year will suffice, in addition to a dividend yield of 6.6%. Cheers

"However, to expect an average return of 3%+6.6%=9.6% is a bit optimistic.
10 years ago, It was 9.20 on 31.12.2012, and now it is lower at 8.75.
From then to now, in10.12 years time, the average annual return was 5.78%."
@i3gambler, if you want an additional meagre 3% return, you have to buy and sell the counter once or twice a year should an opportunity arise. Maybank shot up to RM11 immediately after GE14.

IMO Its risky to buy plantation as it is very volatile and given the wide swings in commodity prices is not for the faint hearted e.g. demand for Palm Oil etc. It is also dependant on external factors like other countries output. Banking on the other hand is more anticipated especially when BNM's directive is more predictable (more often then not following the Fed Reserve - thats bcos MY external debt borrowing more often than not borrow in US Dollar). Hence I believe investing in Banking especially in Harimau being the largest banking group in Malaysia would be a more safer bet as with other established banking stocks compared to Plantation stocks.

Treasury Sanctions Companies Involved in Production, Sale, and Shipment of Iranian Petrochemicals and Petroleum
February 9, 2023
WASHINGTON — Today, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned nine entities across multiple jurisdictions that have played a critical role in the production, sale, and shipment of hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of Iranian petrochemicals and petroleum to buyers in Asia. Treasury is targeting six Iran-based petrochemical manufacturers or their subsidiaries, and three firms in Malaysia and Singapore involved in facilitating the sale and shipment of petroleum and petrochemicals on behalf of Triliance Petrochemical Co. Ltd., which OFAC designated on January 23, 2020 for facilitating the sale of Iranian petroleum products from the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).

J: sell off
C: sell off
U: don't sell off. Buy more. Need more time for my debt ceiling to increase other no more money to pay.
All: sell off
U: Who dare to sell off, I will sanction who. I can even kick those out of Swift.

The stock is trading at 1.1x FY23F P/BV vs. the 5-year historical average P/BV of 1.3x with an attractive dividend yield of 7.3%.
Source: AmInvest Research - 15 Feb 2023

7.3% yield for FY23F?
Is Am Research targeting a dividend of 63/64 sen for 2023?

Ikut saja ASB beli. haha

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2023-02-16 23:42 | Report Abuse

ASB buys and sells Maybank shares throughout the year. It has bought Maybank shares 6 times in a row over the past few weeks but prior to this, it sold Maybank shares 16 times in a row. You can hardly get any lead from ASB's sales and purchases.

Invest in 8.74. Is it still too high? Use the mbb dividend to reinvest in the DRP ? Is the best?

Of course ASB, EPF buy and sell frequently. Funds needs to reap profits from their investments in orders to paid dividend to investors. It's a normal practices

I hope Maybank could maintain its earnings at 2021 level after providing for 6% prosperity tax and pays at least 30 sen a share final dividend.

Posted by prudentinvestor > 2023-02-23 16:22 | Report Abuse

Someone posted a comment on this forum several weeks ago arguing that Petronas Chemicals should be given the same or higher valuation than Maybank since its earnings exceeded that of Maybank. Today we know why. As far as consistency is concerned, Maybank is peerless.
