correct... normally this is the trend. Postman will deliver the letter (good news) first, then the owner (DRB) open the letter .

@人生几何,totally agree for fsp n e-commerce nid at least few years to materialize.
But b to the root, drb is making average rm200million profit from 2013-2016, if proton is taken out.
If n mayb drb can let go 51% stake of proton to the fsp...n no nid to consolidate proton in2 drb profit n loss acc, straight away can c the profit for drb...as the ctrm, bank muamalat, pos, deftech, puspakom or even the indah water r all doing great tis few years.

But of cos, to let go controlling stake of proton, just a big maybe...no one knows wats gonna happen..when ppl think government will let go proton to GM or VW b to 2012, drb is the winner.

N really dunno how mahathir able to influnce tis time...after all, he was 22 years PM, got wide connection.

If crude oil still hover around usd90-100/barrel, i damn sure government will still keep it, but now even budget oso susah to plan...government will just let proton bankrupt instead of taking it b...fsp sure will go thru, but the crucial thing is at wat price n stake drb gonna let it goes...

i did simple math, drb bought proton vf rm2 billion, n the accumulated lost since then is around rm1.2 billion...so total cost is around rm3.2billion after drb takeover proton...but proton has a tax credit of more than rm8billion, so which mean even after fsp successfully make proton turn around, they can get profit without taxation for years.

Under proton's tjg malim plant, the actual planning & facilities is for proton city to manufacture cars for annual capacity of 1million units, which means the infrastructures ady there, just nid touch up n some installation then can pump up the capacity...

so advantage is there to attract fsp, but the big question is how much drb gonna sell n price proton...n will politic involve into tis deal again?

Posted by helloworld123 > 2017-03-14 20:29 | Report Abuse

Proton is a badly wounded animal on its last legs. It either gives up majority control or die !

I believe the management understand that no FSP (expecially the successful one) is willing to turn around and improve Proton's performance without having a majority shareholding in Proton. DRB may hold substantial quantity but not majority.. and its necessary.. or Proton will continue to drag down their hurdle. Really hope the management make a wise decision and not based on ego or to safeguard the cronies.. hmm

For tis i cant agree...as Asean is really untap market for western n china mid class auto producer, cos mid class belongs to all japanese brands, high class belongs to germany brands...

Like it or not, Asean has huge population n growing middle class, believe or not AFTA is becoming real to Asean, walk in2 hypermarket, u will realize shampoo, can foods, instant foods all import from Asean, cos duty free among Asean is happening now.

In automotive industry, or wat market named it OEM, the margin is not as high as we think for mid n low class vehicle, they survive tru volume, tech n platform sharing & merge n acquisation, cos globalisation make most brand hard to survive without global present. OEM always wants to venture to as many countries as possible, but the nightmare is wat they called "beginner mistake". To set up a factory, capital is huge n involve lots of paperworks vf local authority, tats y big OEM ows keen to joint venture vf a local partners to lower the chances for "mistake".

If u been to china, n c all those VW, Toyota, Honda...u will c, ows a china name in front of their brands. If the FSP wan to work vf proton just for malaysia market, i think is the most stupid auto producer in the world, even no brainer than proton.

So able to takeover vf proton is the best, merge unlikely cos proton is too small for them...joint venture, they all knew wat happened bout proton history vf Mitsubishi.

So Geely chairman is unethical to comment smtg during the negotiation stage, but he really wants proton management to understand how worse is their position now...too much political involve since the forming of proton, tats y if drb able to cut a deal for FSP will be a boost to drb.

takashi86

Main point is we really dunno hows the deal for FSP can b formed ...if not buying controlling stake from drb, who wants to do tat favor?
If joint venture, better they go to thailand set up a plant as the whole auto ecosystem n supply chain is thr...
If merge, y a multi billion car tycoon wanna merge vf a kacang putih loss making proton?

Those stupid ministers just like keep come out to say something stupid make the situation even worse, one said proton is private is okay to sell it off, another said proton is nation "PRIDE" cant sell majarity stake...

If the final deal is drb let go 51% or even 50% stake of proton, whole market will be surprise...but mahathir might get heart attack...

Posted by helloworld123 > 2017-03-15 08:11 | Report Abuse

The sun may have to rise up from the west if fsp gets 51% control - haha.

I oso hope can sell 51%, but hey...doesnt proton belongs to drb which is private entity...y goverment can has so much saying bout it...like i mentioned last night...2day MITI said is good for proton sell 51% to fsp...2moro, another minister will shout out loud proton is nation pride, wont sell more than 50% stake...guys, u all c the clear pic?

Is not bout the wise biz decision in making now, is political show for them...y drb no more making comment, cos they dun wanna offense any1 in the parliment.

Gosh...1st time invest in a stock like gambling...such excitement!!

@人生几何,ya...battery car is taking on the stage, but buyer nid to pay at least 250k sg dollar in singapore for basic telsa model, even after sg subsidy tax cut of 25k dollar...a market cant flourish when oni 1 company is doing it alone, while others big brands all still selling hybrid...

The biggest problem for battery...is the recharge cycle...u will nid longer time 2 charge but shorter distance travel after charging...after 3-4 years, the battery efficiency oni left 50%.

Battery car protect environment...okay, Lynas at kuantan producing rare earth material, is one of the key element for making magnet which power the motor...to produce lithium (battery) tru earth extraction, u know how much pollution created to chile, argentina n bolivia?

Western media is really good in marketing...show u the bright side but hide the dark side...u can watch a movie called Blood Diamond, n check out how romantic n precious a diamond is extract n make in the process.

Because of the low volume and stagnancy (due to lack of any catalysts).. its normal for traders to leave and move to other counters where the actions are. Also.. due to this sell-offs.. its price will keep going south slowly especially when there is no support from the institutions. DRB is starting to join one of the boring counters club until certain news are revealed. Stay tuned

A very good morning to all here.

I am generally bullish on KLSE but extra bullish on DRB because it is going into a revolutionary transformation. Innovation will bring DRB to a higher level.

Latest good news to benefit DRB is US has raised interest rates.

How so?

The Answer is DRB owns 70% of Bank Maumalat. And banking stocks will make more monies when interest rates move up. So this is another important division of DRB which will add to its overall earnings.

Posted by semperamaris > 2017-03-16 07:51 | Report Abuse

wtf.

Posted by helloworld123 > 2017-03-16 08:48 | Report Abuse

FED Interest rates increase benefit US banks only. How does it benefit B.Maumalat?
